  • u should actually wait for it to turn on by herself

  • Lol jk, it does flash and it's a standard RROD, the only issue being it that NOTHING happens, aside from the flashing and the fans don't do shit -.-

  • Maybe someone can help me because when I turn my xbox on I get RROD but the fans don't even turn on and it just sits there like a fucking retard with a constant RROD, it doesn't even flash. If it's any help, the only the part of the light-up circle that doesn't light up is the top right one (the one that would show controller two is connected), I'm not sure if this means anything but I'm confused as fuck.

  • i got RROD so i turned my xbox off and on and it worked

  • This is for those that dont know. The RROD is when the motherboard overheat and ussualy melt. This can't be repaired with 3 towels. You need to replace the motherboard with a new one. Which is not so convenient. Or toherwise aend it to microsoft.

  • Just tried it and my Xbox 360 is up and working again! Even though I know this is a temporary repair (or then again, who knows), I want to thank the person who made this video. You saved me some money! lol

  • thanks dude i had RROD and i searched allover the net but nothing worked and i tried yours and now my xbox works again!!! but is it a permanent fix?

  • yeah i got RROD and i only put mine in the towel at my friends for like 5-10 mins then i put it in my bag and walked back home i plugged it in and it worked does that mean it's more likely to work permanently because it wont be getting so hot or is it still just as likely to last a day then shit out to RROD again? please respond thanks :]

  • thx man it worked!

  • this sucks ur cpu may get over 100 degrees and its gone!

  • dude you are a lifesaver and thanx from me and my friend the our xbox works now yaaayyyy!!!!!!

  • QUICK I KNOW CPR

  • what the hell is that white thing under those towels?

  • @naggedd its ur 2-inch

  • @naggedd Oh it's called an Xbox 360.

  • i hope you all realize that by doing this it is damaging the gpu cpu and capacitors in the 360. To fix the rrod you need to open it up, carefully heat up the GPU with a heat gun, and lift the processor STRAIGHT UP off the board, then use a soldering gun with a small amount of LEADED solder on it to remove solder from the board and the gpu, then use a SMALL amount of flux to clean the board and GPU. then you place .6mm solder balls on the GPU's conductors (they have to be alligned perfectly!)....

  • @TheHaloForum Then you heat up the GPU a little before moving it to melt the solder in place (MAKE SURE NONE OF THE BALLS ARE TOUCHING EACHOTHER!!!) then when they're all locked in place, as best you can position the chip back the way it used to be, after that heat it up so that it reattaches to the board. when this is all done, reapply thermal paste (just a drop, too much is bad). And it should work again if done correctly. Now to assure it doesnt happen again you can apply the 12v fan mod.

  • I did this and i worked for a good month before i got it again...I tried the same method again but it didn't work the second time.

  • You are so fucking dumb because my little brother has the same xbox and if the av cords are out it does that

  • PEOPLE!!! DO NOT FRIGGIN TRY THIS!!! THIS IS VERY STUPID ALL YOU ARE DOING IS DAMAGING YOUR GPU AND CPU! You need to reapply Arctic Silver 5 to the GPU and CPU, play it for maybe an hour or 2, let it cool down, then it will work. Once you clean and reapply the thermal paste games will freeze, HOWEVER after a few hours of gameplay and MANY hours of cool down time it will work like a charm! :3

  • This actually works buttttt there's a defect it will freeze your games always!!

  • my xbox caught fire, should i leave it on??

  • fucking idiot, this will overtime ruin your xbox

  • this guy it's an idiot, isn't ?

  • The question is, does this work every time; and if it does, is it worth it? I know that RRoD is primarily caused by insufficient cooling, and extended gameplay. Cooling is a basic and highly integral part of any CPU based system, just like a car; If you dont cool the motor, it blows up. Whats the point in having a gaming console if you cant play games for an extended amount of time? I know that the Elite is better about this; but my suggestion would be a PS3.

  • @MCArchangel777 yeh your right it does work but after a while it stops working all together your better off replacing your heat sinks but u have to buy a little fix kit for it not sure how much there are thou

  • @MCArchangel777 The ps3 yellow lights

  • Nice man i do it the same works for me too!!!

  • @Kasioris5 so like just put 3 dry towels on it for a while having it still on

  • @13MRko it works but after a while it doesnt your better off replacing your heat sinks

  • Nice man i do it the same works for me too!!!

  • Heating it then cooling it back down doesn't really solve the problem. The solution is to turn off your Xbox 360, turn of the switch powering your Xbox 360, unplug the plug, leave the Xbox 360 away from heat and sunlight for half an hour and then put the plug back in, turn the switch on, turn the Xbox 360 on, then voila! Fixed! Well, i think. I'm sorry, I don't really know, my Xbox 360 i had for a full year and it never got the RROD at all. But in the end i sold it for a DSi... :'(

  • @Xludo73GoEco your a fucking idiot for selling your xbox for a dsi

  • @tatortot174 Actually I'm glad I did now because if i do prefer handhelds over consoles now. I'm just different from everyone else. I prefer a DSi, A less powerful hardware than a crazy all-expensive console full of possibilities. Go f**k yourself. Don't mess with my decisions.

  • I love listening to dumb fucks fight on youtube .

Thumbs up if you agree =P

  • Boobs are awesome.

  • i did that but in less than an hour it got again and did it for my next 7 tries soo after that im like fuck it and took a pickaxe and smashed the shit out of it in front of my yard with a few neighbors watching XD

  • yes u fixed it. one problem ... no one try this. it temporarily fixes your problem after a few days or earlier your xbox will be permenently destroyed

  • The Article here will show completely how to restore your Xbox.

XBOX360FIXGUIDE.TK My Dad and I repaired ours utilizing it.

  • I had it once and it was gone right after I restarted my xbox

  • it didn't work for me:(

  • 1337 comments lol

  • U guys there is an easier way.... GET A PS3

  • @cjmoshpot1995 ps3's to die! yellow light of death (YLOD)

  • @cjmoshpot1995 YEAH...everyone i know who has ps3 get s the ylod... repairs are costly....where microsoft repairs for free....

  • @NIZDISDIK Because it seems you dont know anything, Its caused by human errors.

Unlike the Xbox where it happens all the time. Because Microsoft likes to cheat you guys.

  • @inutichow what human errors would that be? enlighten me you fucking dick.....

  • @NIZDISDIK Dont get so butthurt, Are you mad because your friends are retarded a fuck?

Or that you cant build a strong enough counter argument? Dont reply with such things as "All my friends PS3 got ylod so it must be sonys fault because in no way shape or form could it be my friends inability to use or maintain technology."

  • @inutichow and you still havent told me what human errors cause the overheating in ps3....douche

  • @NIZDISDIK Putting a PS3 in a box with a blow dryer set on high.

    Puting PS3 in an oven.

Taking out the fan and replacing it with a sock.

    Light the PS3 on fire.

Puting the PS3 on metal infront of a fireplace.

    That enough errors?

  • @inutichow lol..what stupid shit to say...you telling me that people go out and buy new a new ps3 and do shit like that? your retarded...of course that shit will cause malfunction. that would not be considered user error... just stupidity. i would like to know of one person who does shit like that. maybe people would do shit like that after ylod...but not before which would mean its a designer flaw. not user error. your just a dumbass and obviously dont know shit about anything.

  • @NIZDISDIK

He was actually just making fun of you and you didn't understand him. =|

  • @inutichow you make yourself sound stupid.....

  • @inutichow and how does microsoft cheat us? free repairs? microsoft points and free live when you get it back? sounds to me like good customer service.... even if the warranty is expired they repair and place a new one year warranty....where as ps3....you pay for repairs...most people just buy a new system because repairs cost just the same...... sounds like playstation cheats you more than xbox cheats us...go ahead...talk your shit... get mad you piece of shit....

  • @NIZDISDIK Herp Herp The error on the PS3 is human error. Thus its like dumping it in water.

Microsoft they designed the Xbox poorly. Thats why the first Xbox model caught on fire, And they didnt wanna spend the money to fix it 100% so now it just ruins your xbox.

  • @so...what are you trying to say? ps3 users are just stupid ? microsoft had poor design in the heatsink? which they designed a new console that have no problems? . ...which would mean ps3 users cheat themselves and microsoft cheats us. think i got it but Because it seems you dont know anything, im not sure what your trying to say. everyone ive seen with ylod had their console well ventilated and was well taken care of....

  • @NIZDISDIK Is there something wrong with you? Mental issue? YLOD is caused due to PS3 getting overheated and thereby causing the components to get detached. Much in the same way RROD is. But RROD is caused by Microsofts poor design. YLOD is caused by a human error(I have said this before.)-Owner of a PS3 since 2007-Owner of a Xbox well atleast before it got RROD so i just gave it to my cousin.

  • @inutichow what is your fuckin point dude? everyone knows both consoles have problems with overheating...its not user error you dumbfuck...it poor design on both consoles....only difference is microsoft repairs for free and places a warranty on repaired product.... playstation charges for repairs...so shut the fuck up...you keep repeating what my first comment was in different words... uneducated bitch

  • The flashing rings appear when u don't have the av cable connected, so all you did there was shorten'd the life of your shit x box even more! Fuck xbox name 1 thing that makes the xbox better than a ps3!!!!! Kind regards from an ex xbox owner!

  • @2zeee1 The controller ! Simply the only reason that i hate ps3.

  • @2zeee1 The flashing rings appear not only when the av cable isn't connected. It depends on the number of flashing lights. If there's four, there's indeed something wrong with the av cable, but when three lights flashing, the hardware is broken or something. Same with two or even one light

  • @2zeee1 halo

  • Almost 1337 comments. :D

  • well i no it temporarily work but how does that temporarily fix a major hardware fault

  • ummm i did it but it doesnt stay fixed for ever it worked for me like 4 days and it was over fuck xbax all bout ps3 baby yeaa!!!!! lol xbox is sumwat koo

  • I just restarted mine and it was fine..

  • wut if u only have 2 rings plz answer

  • @collinskeishon Your console overheated.

  • @EpicMan83 yeah i fixed it i had to clean it out it was completely dusty now it dont turn red nomore

  • my friend tou have right today i bake it and work!but i am going to buy xbox 360 slim!

  • Or just buy a ps3...

  • yall could get the RROD and theres nothing wrongwtih your system. just unplug every thing out of everything the wall socket the brick and the console and plug tem back in tight.

  • @biggiesmallzz123 man i was like tripping out but then i did wat u said now it works fine

  • @mkmkmk911 no prob

  • all is good for about 2 weeks your better off sending to ms saying you have red lights and you get a NEW xbox FREE people! come on its that simple

  • It worked! ;-)

  • slim can get the rdod red dot of death

  • just wrapped it up left it on hopefuly it works

  • Look people stop laying your xbox 360 horizontaly because it blocks the vents on the top beside the harddrive or stop bitching and get the slim of a ps3

  • @dcfire541 f**k you why would u get a ps3 slim when u can get a xbox 360 slim?the xbox 360 slim has no red lights so there would be no RRoD the closest thing u would get would probably be a GRoD (green ring of death) which will never happen

  • @dcfire541 f**k you why would u get a ps3 slim when u can get a xbox 360 slim?the xbox 360 slim has no red lights so there would be no RRoD the closest thing u would get would probably be a GRoD (green ring of death) which will never happen un less 4 people have their controllers attached and are playing a game

  • @Eeko00 rbod red dot of death ive had 2 times with my slim now im just sticking with a ps3 xboxs are shit

  • @bestboyxxxx thats a big misconseption just because it isnt 4 doesnt mean anything any 25% of the whole ring means something and 3 means that there is a **General hardware malfunction* as apposed to 1 red ring meaning**Hardware malfunction**

  • and also apparently if you have 1 red ring in section four which is called e 74 dont be a dumbass like me and waste 30 bucks plus shipping on the kit i spent a total of 60 $ cuz i chose the 1 day shipping and all you do is turn on ur 360 and before the red rings come up press the controller reset button or what ever its called up above where u turn on ur 360 and i did this twice before it started working like normal its a good thing the people that gave it to me for free thought it was broken :D

  • this will ruin ur xbox permanetly when you get the 3 red rings of death you have to replace something in your xbox 360 i forgot what its called i think its the gpu or whatever but you need special tools so instead of wasting money thinking your xbox aint replaceable and or sending it to microsoft and paying over 100 bucks if you dont have a warrent it is still better to do this search up red ring of death x clamp fix it will fix your xbox 360 for good and it only cost 30 or so money so good luck

  • i did this and it is now working but for how LONG will it stay working???

  • i know how to fix it 100%!!!

you know that yellow liquid comming from your penis/vagina?

use it on the xbox,it will get cooled :)

  • Epic

  • Im not putting my 360 in the oven??

  • poeple DO NOT WRAP YOU XBOX WITH TOWELS.. that just overheats the system then later your xbox is not going to work anymore then u might need to take it to someone to repair it, fix it your self, or send it to microsoft to fix

  • The red ring of death is simply a solder connection that gets disconnected. The reason why for some people wrapping a towel over their Xbox 360 works is because it heats the system enough for the solder connection to reconnect.

  • thanks i am just trying to fix my xbox now

  • Does anyone know a substitute for thermal glue to use in the penny trick?

  • @nerdsneedmoney There is no substitute.

  • Come check out my idea on my video it has fixed the 0102 error on the gpu

My 360 is the first to incorporate a cpu heat sink with cooler from a pc, check out my proof of concept

btw i know this video is old but never do the towel trick to your 360 or any console

the trick will work maybe for like a few minutes but it will seriously damaged the SMD chips with warping and bowing

  • WOW! that is so stupid, the only reason why it had the three rings because the av cable wasnt plugged in.... So stupd and FAKE

  • @TheeFiloSouljahz If the AV cable's unplugged, it's a 4 segment ring, not 3.

  • <----------

Look at my vid. It's way easier to fix the RROD in my video than in this video, and theres no chance of fucking it up!!!! lol Just click on my channel to watch it.

  • <--- watch

    much easier

  • People are idiots!

  • Maybe i'm not as wise as you, but i thought the RROD was caused by overheating...

and i dunno, it's just that if i drop my tv and it breaks, i don't expect it to start working again if i drop it one more time. :/

  • Hey here's my way my m8 tested for me. CUT ur cock. Take out hard drive. Put ur cock where the hard drive gos. Put hard drive in. You'll notice the hard drives not the only hard thing to. Your a fag. I'm not doing that shit

  • BULL CRAP!!!! this is PROVEN to FUCK UP your xbox360...go to my channel. I have a PERMANENT FIX to RROD! Don't do this crap..

  • @TheRedRingOfDeathFix have you decided to troll everyones 360 fix video?

  • ok. if you are too unskilled to reseat heatsinks (instruction are available here on youtube) and too cheap to pay a shop or someone on craigslist who does it (there are 2 of us in east idaho alone) then do the paperclip in the fan trick. it is still bad but it is much more precise. NEVER NEVER NEVER do the towel trick.

  • Way to fuck an X-box in the long run: Wrap it in towels and bake it.

It is easier to basically take it apart, remove the xclamps, clean off the heat sinks and the CPU's then re-apply thermal paste and put back together with screws. Should take no more than an hour, and you are not damaging any other parts inside the xbox.

You can do as ndogg360 has done, but I would recommend replacing the thermal paste for a much longer fix.

  • @FireyRedPhoenix

I forgot to mention that i did infact replace the thermal compound aswell. I used Arctic Silver 5.

  • OMG that signal is so annoying!!! my ears are bleeding!

  • Id never wrap my xbox in towls. The best way to fix it is to replace the xclmaps that hold the heatsinks on with screws and washers. Then run the xbox without the fan in it until the 2 flashing red lights appear. Let it cool off then it works again. I fixed my friends xbox this way and its been going strong for about 7 months or so now.

  • @ndogg360

actualy the Xclamp is a good thing, screws and washers cause flex. on the MoBo. the crappy thermal compound is the problem. I use my dremil tool abrasive discs to cut the hooks off the ends, bend the arms flat (because otherwise they apply too much pressure) and bend the very ends up just enough so when screwed down they are flat against the MoBo. tighten the screws just enough to pull the clamp to hte MoBo, not push on it anywhere but the center..

  • Thats another Xbox fooked download a free guide from my homepage.

  • I baked it and it worked for like 3 days, then stopped.

  • dfgtgruyytewgteuyryftyeft7yrtf7yregfuerwweguyfgeuyfgurgywegrffgewgfhuyfguyegfehgfuefgguyfgwyfgweuyfuygfygfuwegfegfygfdgfgudfgudgufgufgweufggfuyfgdugfugfurggdufgfgfawegfuygweuyfgufuywqgfuyguyfgwgfsdgfegfwhegqwfweqhgfewgfewgfhjgfhegfhjrgfrhgfhgfgfefrgfgrgregfgggfgrguegfggfygffgggfgfyghughuywguyfgyfguyfuyfurffhffhfgygyuewhgfuygdshfuygfvgdufgdgfdgfgasughdgyfusdgufgydsgfuydsgfugdfgdfgdfgdsfgdsfdgfyudfgysadusdfuygffgyffdffguygdufggfdyugdgfgrgdfrhugfhdfgfsghghgfrhgfgeugfhqwgfqeruifdgfqwjfhqgfhdhdhdhdhd

  • if you had common sense you would nkow this doesnt work

  • it only works for like 20 mins after that....don't do that

  • dont bake it

  • Yeah working :)

  • yeah that never fixes it, just temporally and also harms your xbox, you really think overheating it is a good idea, not at all.

  • Till 10 Minutes and your back to Square 1

  • i got rrod as soon as i switched my xbox on lmao

  • that f#@ks it up

  • i bet that 1 week later you got another rrod

  • why wouldn't you just do it right

  • hmm wont properly last that long...some people gets rrod again after trying something like that, im just gonna send my in to get repared

  • I bet that thats lie he could of just swtich 360s

  • i got rrod again after i sent it in, such assholes at microsoft!

  • stupid u didn't have ur av in that in itself will cause the red lights to flash until u put the cable in

  • @iburmanable nooot!

  • seriously, i mean wtf? who got the bright ass idea to burn your electronics? your not fixing it, your overriding the error by fucking it up MORE, so unless your some rich bitch who can afford to fuck your xbox, i wouldn't do it

  • after i did this it worked for five minutes then it died

  • Fuck microsoft xbox 360

  • also another way to ruin your xbox more

  • I have had my xbox 360 since 2006 and i have never gotten the red ring of death

  • @97Stride me too but mine just red ringed today

  • @97Stride good 4 u ...

  • i had a rrod i kicked it and it fixed :D

  • this can be easily prevented it seems by just giving it plenty of air..

  • my xbox 360 has only one ring of death, its the bottom right (in laying down position) not sure what to do ><

  • this is weird and true i was playing halo 3 then my xbox turned of then i turned it back on then the RROD came on then i turned it back on and it WORKED???

  • how did you do that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @yoperson5466

    Watch the video. :D

  • po huj ci ten koc czy ręcznik

  • @bela144 żeby konsola zaczeła się chłodzić

  • I need some advice. As soon as I turn on my rrod console, it goes straight to rrod. It doesn't turn on or even attempt to. I have put thermal paste over the gpu thingy. If anybody has any suggestion, pm me please. Thanks and also please sub to my Youtube.

  • dude the towel trick sometimes works but it fuks up ur system

if you want a less harmful solution checout my channel

  • I got the rrod what should I do no warranty

  • @NRNiko

Either opt for an out-of-warranty exchange with Microsoft, where you may likely get a reconditioned Jasper or Opus board for a fee, or buy a new one.

With new consoles, the release of the Valhalla chipset in the newest generation of 360 consoles as well as the widespread availability of the Jasper chipset means that it doesn't make much sense now to waste any more time and money getting a broken Xenon, Zephyr or Falcon board running only to risk it going RRoD again down the road.

  • I wouldnt do tht

  • retarded M$ fanboys

  • lol... fuck you asshole... maybe cutting of your penis will fix this bullshit too... xD

  • Cool for 4 days then RRoD again :( if u do this to much you will burn your chip and will not be fixable by microsoft unless they apploe a new chip, if ur warantie has ran out £95 thats all most the cost for a new one!

  • u back in business for couple hours.

  • damn... it sounds like a fucking vacuum on steroids

  • Also it is ruining the fans because they are being blocked by the towel.

  • I hope you guys know that this ruins your xbox. After 3 times it pretty much ruins it forever. Check my channel for a fix that lasts and doesn't ruin your xbox forever.

  • how do u fix it by choking it?

  • I got the fuckin rrod today i might get the slim

  • @Chirs3451 good choice

  • THIS IS OLD NEWS... NEW XBOXES DONT DO THIS.....

  • FIRST before trying this technique, EDUICATE yourselves upon how theis is supposed to work.

  • ¬_¬ should of gone to SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT and brought a PLAYSTATION 3

  • Damn After four years of a good xbox it crashes lucky i got a ps3 lol

  • i got mine 2day after 4 YEARS lol it was karma my mates were all talking about there rrod and i was like yehh miness is amazing i have it for 4 years and then BAM it broke FUKK u Karma
