Slim (Bob) Dunlap, actually. He wasn't much of a guitarist, IMO.
Rumor was (never proven, as far as I know) at the time that it was Sire Records, rather than the band, that picked him.
He's kept a pretty low profile since the replacements split.

@BuckHill87 Aren't you kind of glad though that, in a way, the public didn't pick up on the Mats? I make no apologies for being elitist here. They didn't belong to the mainstream and I really don't want some teenybopper with ADD being into them for a short time and tossing them aside like the used Kleenex their dads should've shot them into and saved us a lot of grief.
