  • A question on Lithium Batteries........................Have you ever tried them in this light ? After looking through some forums, a few people have tried em with no problems. Apparently, at the testing phase, Petzl had 2 failures in 1000 trials so erred on the side of caution.

  • @Wutangspam I never use those batteries. I can't give my opinion on them :o)

  • Good review fella ! I bought one after seeing this. I got the standard battery pack though, not the belt version. $70.00 USD off of good ol' eBay !

  • @Wutangspam Thanks fella :o) Good luck to ya!

  • how do you recharge the batteries

  • @90kevigilante It takes regular AA batteries. Replace when dead. Like most headlamps.

  • @Ggreenvideos so you cant recharge the batteries. U have to buy new ones?

  • @90kevigilante You can put any AA batteries in it. You can put rechargeable batteries if you want.

  • @Ggreenvideos OK thank you

  • I really enjoyed your video! Very informative, and unlike some of the hosers that post vids here, you actually used it OUTDOORS!! While we get our share of snow here in Central MA, its nothing compared to what you guys get in a "normal" winter. One thought though- you wouldnt have to worry about keeping those batteries warm if you used lithium batteries. They operate well below zero, unlike their alkaline counterparts. Thanks again for the vid-Happy trekking!

  • @colinsdad1 Well thanks a bunch! Appreciate it ;o) I found that no batteries last long when exposed to this cold :o) That's the reason for this system.

  • I now have headlamp envy!!!!!

    A right goodie.

    Merry Christmas, eh!!!!!

    Shug

  • @shugemery Are you Green yet?...hehe! I really really wanted that 300 lumen! Maybe next week! ...haha! Merry Xmas to you too eh :o)

  • You are welcome eh!

  • @EconoChallenge Huh? ;o)

  • @EconoChallenge Oh yeah eh!

  • i've considered a belt battery pack light for that same reason. send some of that snow east!!

  • @gcstorm1 Yeah it's good to get those batteries in a nice warm place. Ontario just got hammered with snow, figured you would get some of it! It appears you had a lot of rain eh?

  • Very nice! Great set up and holy SNOW!! I'm jealous!

  • @hinckleypoland Thanks man :o) But you're nice and warm now I bet! Less arthritic pain...hehe :o)

  • @hinckleypoland Actually G its way too hot down here. Almost 80 today. As much as I like wearing shorts, t shirt, and flip flops... I can do that when its 100+. I want cold weather! Just saying..LOL.

  • I have a candle that works when the wind aint blowing haha, actaully been looking at some sort of smal lamp

  • @bigskytrapper Haha! Good one :o) Petzl has many choices depending on the amount of coin ya wanna' spend :o)

  • @FourReason Ya know...I never thought of that ;o) oh no!...hehe ;o)

  • Lighting gear has come so far.

Great video brother & stay warm up there. I just got a chill from watching your video : )

  • @CampfireTalk Thanks bro :o) Shall do!

  • Great review, Great lite- PETZL makes some good head torches.

  • @jolietjake1970 Thanks! Yeah, Petzl is "Top Shelf" ;o)

  • Wo....thats what I call a Headlamp...Excellent Rich.....

  • @bushcraftbartons Thanks Mike buddy :o) It does seem pretty decent!

  • Looks like a real nice light. I have an old Energizer “Trailfinder” (50 lumen spot) but only gets 5 hr battery life. The flood setting only gives 30 hrs. I bought a Princeton Tec for the long battery life (150 hr) but it is only 21 lumens area light. The MYO XP would be both lights combined and still have good battery life.

ya know…. at first, during the night test, I thought I heard crickets. Guess not, it must have just been some other ambient noise :-))

  • @Woodenarrows Hey Jim :o) Yeah, it seems pretty decent. My North 49 30 lumen was alright for around camp. Mainly in and out of the hammock. But on the trail it just wouldn't do. I still want that 300 lumen so bad...hehe! Then bushwoman can take this one ;o)

    Crickets?...hehe! Maybe a squirrel, but I'm not sure :o)

  • Good review, good lamp.

  • @Glockster42 Thanks! Yep! It looks like it should be a good one :o)

  • great little headlamp, thanks for the review

  • @dragonflyhiker ...and thanks for watching bro ;o)

  • @supertramp71 Thanks bro :o) Yeah I seen on the Weather Network you guys are gettin' hammered :o) Good for you man! Enjoy :o)

  • Petzk make great lamps. Thx, Tim

  • @steintanz Yep, good brand! Thanks for checkin' in :o)

  • I have the petzel tikka xp love it, I do like the idea of keeping batteries warm in pocket . So are you styling the light when shoveling snow ah lol

  • @medicjimr Ya man! Batteries in pocket = warm :o) I thought I seen you show it somewhere. I haven't used it shoveling, we do have street lites here lol ;o)

  • @Ggreenvideos Hey a bone fire or oil lamp does not constitute a street light lol . And doing a cold weather video now lol

  • @medicjimr Haha :o) The city actually has poles with Tallow candles...haha!

  • @Ggreenvideos Tallow from moose I Presume . So you staying warm. i skipped hunting today cold 19 ° and 25 mph winds maybe saturday .

  • @medicjimr Caribou tallow ;o) Yeah it warmed up to -8C/17.6F today :o) Very weird weather man ;op Beach weather haha! 19F with 25mph wind ? Perfect...for freezing off the trigger finger...haha ;o)

  • I like this lamp, Mine is worn out, it's high time to replace it.

  • @kookiemoose Yep! Petzl seems to be top shelf :o)

  • Hi Rich, wow, c o o l review, indoor and outdoor, great work. Super Headlamp, very bright light. Good stuff for the lead dog : ))) buddy. 18 hours darkness, man..., -25°C ...better I enjoy your videos, haha. Thanks a lot my friend. All the best Sepp

  • @Waldhandwerk Thanks Sepp buddy ;o) Yep, the lead dog has too see ...hehe!

  • I have an older MYO XP, I'm not sure how many lums it is but I've had it for a few years. Mine doesn't have the strap that goes across the top of your head. It was optional on the early ones and for the way I've used mine it's not been essential however I think it would be better with one. Mine also has the battery box on the back of the head band so it's a bit more compact. Overall I'm quit pleased with mine. It's not the light for a gram weenie but then I've never been one of those.

  • @DrunknShooter Cool! Yeah I don't think the top strap is a must, but I guess it helps if you wanna' keep the light a little looser(No brain cramp:o)) the top one would keep it from sliding down. I thought about the one with the battery pack on the back of the head but again...freeze up :o) I'm not an extreme gram weenie either :o)...and in the winter ultralite pretty much goes out the window ;o)

  • Very complete review. Well done. You sold me - hehe. Do you find the cable getting in the way at all? You'll be able to do some really decent night videos - Bushman 24/7!

  • @wawhiker Thank you buddy! Appreciate it :o) The cable seemed fine...honestly , didn't even know it was there :o) Latenite with the Bushman eh?...hehe :o)

  • Nice Bro! Get some lithium AA's, like Energizer. Supposed to be much better in the cold. I got the Duracell rechargeable ( 4 AA, 4 AAA, and charger for $20- at costco), and so far so good, but haven't had much by way of cold conditions to REALLY test them yet.

  • @matt4270 Thanks bro :o) Good idea, I will try that. We don't have the Costco here though :o) I'd have to travel 1500km. south to go there haha!

  • @Ggreenvideos Costcos nice but it's not worth that long a drive LOL

  • @DrunknShooter Haha! That's for sure :o) Especially in winter. Driving through Muncho Lake B.C in winter is a nightmare at night :o)

  • @Ggreenvideos I live about 70 miles from the nearest Walmart and people on line are always telling me to "just run down to Walmart and pick one up". Most are surprised when I tell them I'd have to cross 3 counties and drive 3 hours (if the weathers nice) to get to Walmart. Of course its not worth the drive unless your picking up a lot of stuff so we usually spend 2 or 3 hours inside the store shopping. Over all running into Walmart takes up the better part of a Sunday. Thank goodness for the Net

  • pretty cool for super low temps as you said. the one i have is the 65 lumens petzl(batteries contained in led housing) . dont remember the model, just got it about 4 months ago...xp2? i think.. i rememebr seeing that boost lumen effect. man thats a lot of snow... 2ft?? i saw the $400 petzl...too much for my blood. LOL

  • @ez2curanut Yeah man! Pretty cool eh! :o) 65 lumen would be pretty decent too :o) I really wanted that 300 lumen...haha! Maybe next week :o)
