Good design but wouldn't you wanna make it a less powerful? If you do that you will most likely hit it out and get a penalty.

The necessary force isn't as much as you may think. Build a prototype, and get a force gauge to measure the force.
A pneumatic cylinder will release it in a "Magic Happens Here" latching mechanism.

That is gonna take a lot of force to pull that thing back...it might be very powerful, but the question is reload time?
