  • Wow this version looks like a piece of cake compared to the PC version. They made the PC version more like a science tool for actual biologists rather than a game. Extremely difficult to learn, whereas this version actually resembles a game.

  • I have this game on the Wii (Turbografx-CD version download). It's fun building and evolving your own earth watching the world change with every little change you made with the many options you have. It's oldschool and a little slow though but it's unique and exciting to experiment for a while.

  • i love/hate this game

didnt know what to do 10 years ago and still dont know what to do

  • dinosaurs driving atom powered trucks? nice... :))

  • The SNES versions of all the Sims blow.

DOS, Mac, and Amiga versions were the ones worth playing.

  • it looks liitle bit hmm how could is say shit ... but i never played it maybe its a good game (LoL)

  • the beta version of Spore...

  • LOL...wow

  • i remember playing this game as a kid. I dont know if it also happened to anyone else but i somehow managed to get 3 lizard men to appear. I only remember it because i guess its not meant to happen!

  • @sid8980 You can get fish men too. You can evolve any creature to intelligence.

  • uhhhhhhh what the f*** is going on?

  • this game is basely a sim game on controlling the planet environment, animal life and civilizations. u should check it out in wikipedia on this game if u got confused lol

  • Sooo... basically what you have to do is use monolith on everything? Eh.

  • i do prefer the OLD graphics. The new Sims Earth i got a few years ago looked terrible. I mean it was no fun at all. It looked like a poor bank page or something. Like it had no art to it at all.

  • thnx.

  • Early version of spore lol

  • that's what i thought!

  • lol

  • I remember getting robots on Venus and winning at life basically!

I used to play this game so much omg..my childhood is coming back.

  • lol...yup! played this all the time :)

  • I have this game on CD still, for PC..it runs on vista :D

  • But which rom for sim earth

  • i got a link on a sim earth rom for super nintendo on the video description to the right.

  • @OverusedChewToy It came out on cd? I have this on floppy disks for both color and B&W lol. They seriously need to come out with a new version of this game.

  • @OverusedChewToy lol...vista:"god dam this guy is nuts...im windows vista not 98...i want 3d games....oh hell with it..."

  • Had this game when I was younger...is this the dumbed down version?

  • somehow but i like the sim earth snes graphics :D and the animations. its nice :D lol

  • I know, old games just HAD something with their art... that new games lack... (Im trying to find it, in my game, feudal empires, check out my videos and if you have any suggestions please feel free to opinionate, I want that OLD feel)

  • a critical emotional nostalgia and anything kindling to remember it before

  • I don't think that's it... because I have never seen this game before, and it has that 'something' I think it may be simplicity and good color use.

  • I think people like simple art in old games for the same reason some people prefer books to movies. The lack of detail encourages the player to do his own imagining as to whats going on.

You see a simple icon representing "reptile", "civilization", or "exodus", and let your brain do the wandering as to what that is...

When you have fully detailed elaborate 3D graphics as in today's games, your brain is not prompted to fill in the gaps with it's own imaginative ideas...

  • God I hated this game. Haha.. but I wasn't a smart kid and it was all I had.

  • i remember this game!

  • I love the games music

  • cool music :)

  • someone should make a Freeware remake of Sim Earth :) that would be cool

  • Never figured out how to play that game

  • it all makes sense you just need to THINK

  • surface albedo - how much light is reflected, affects temperature

core formation - geo activity - volcanos, earthquakes...

  • perfect graphics, there IS NO BLOCKINESS AT ALL, probably used the hi res 512 x 478 mode

  • holy shit dinosaurs with trucks

  • Nice

  • The documentation said it is tied to the size of the volcanoes - bigger core -> slower magma -> lesser volcanoes. Never tested that in practice :)

  • that is true what ivanatora said. It deals with the planet heat. But I can't figure out on how the heat travels up and down like in Mars when you do the quest.

  • I haven't played the pre-made plantes. I don't know why is that setting for - "Air-Sea therman transfer". Did someone noticed how it influences the world?

  • Surface albedo is the surface ability to reflect Sun's heat back to space (or to atmosphere). So bigger the albedo is, cooler the planet is.

  • I managed to form ice caps only after evolving multicellular life (thrown a Monolith on a bakteria ;) ) and entering the Evolution timescale. Then the caps just appeared.

  • I'm playing the PC port, but I can't evolve multicellular life :)

Also I can't form polar caps. Tried everything. Did it before, but it happened once for about 20 simulations.

  • Stupid Gaia. Not hatin or anything, but it just looks so silly and annoying!!

  • lol, he just either happy, sad or angry if u did something on the planet rofl

  • wadde ye mean "spore like". This and "sim life" were the first attempts at spore. The Proto-Spores. Good game, too.

  • its consider a game that like Spore but it is fun to play though lol
