  • the bass line is from Miss you rolling stones

  • thumbs up if you listened for the music before you listened to the lyrics

  • One of the quintessential Van Halen songs

  • sex on the rocks

  • "Rolling Stones: Miss You" .-)

  • VAN HALEN REGAE song!

  • @parka715 "Reggae"? No way, this is funky or disco but never reggae, it's lights years away from reggae

  • @MechaGojira00 listen to bob marley bor the

  • Since you're a stranger here in paradise,you fool..

  • Very underrated song, Eddie at his best.

  • Cool bass line, Mike !

  • Cool bass line, Mike !

  • New album is a 2-track home recording compared to this, no wonder John Shanks fired em because the first 6 albums are quite a ways away from where VH are headed today. Train wreck artwork appropriate.

  • This is the album I like from them no sloppy solo's.

  • Holy mother of all solos...

  • Love the tone of his guitar on the bridge. This whole album saw Ed take his playing to new sophistocated level.

  • This solo just crawls. Kicks like no other!!

  • This song was the best on the album, hands down.

  • the proverbial grand prix of rock guitar solos

    one of ed's best

  • may be the best of VH.

  • merry christmas dave 2011 collapse of morality sinners

    /watch?v=Sbvs1zPw0eE

    give it here

  • everyone giving eddie and dave love, what about the rhythm section of al and mike! the bass makes this songs! sexy basslines FTW

  • eddie dances with this whole song...the solo will never stop giving me chills..i wait for it salivating like a fat kid does to chocolate chip cookies baking in a giant oven.

  • 8 people think the song Jump is better...lol

  • Back when I first played this song at home, my older brother thought Dave was singing, "...bush country shove" LOL!

  • 8 people really need a good pushing and shoving

  • This isn't in stereo. Missing one of the guitars.

  • @alexfattoruso Played by who

  • best ed solo

  • I wonder why they gave this a fade out ending cuz there was some amazing improv' vocals at the very end...

  • This song is in my opinion by far Van Halen's best. Very moving singing by DLR, the most amazing solo I've ever heard: a magical beauty/technical combination. A very interesting bass part, especially during the intro and guitar solo, discrete and perfectly adapted drums. But most of all, it's impossible to notice how thought through this song is: very well structured, keys and rythmes switching from one to the other in an unexpected, yet logical manner ... a master-piece!

  • lets not forget about Anthonys killer bass through the whole song

  • Always been my favorite VH song, and one of Eddie's best solos. I've always wondered why it's been overlooked by so many.

  • @dann3th3manni3 I would guess cause it is a fairly slow or soft song to many, I dig this song and it is merely a testament to the incredible range of musical influences this awesome band had!

  • Mozart himself couldn't have played a better solo.

  • @hummarstra Mozart isn't about Guitar Solo's

  • @JeffWatersRules Perceptive analysis, my friend. I too have noticed the absence of the electric guitar in Mozart's oeuvre.

  • One of the greatest lead solo's EVER

  • thrusday at noon heading out to the bgr to pic up some photos listening to van halen

  • Cool song

  • I hate David Lee Roth. I hate him because I am jealous that I will never have the coolness of his pinky toe. I am jealous that I will never see the amount of pussy that he gets in one night in my entire lifetime. Fuck DLR

  • @TOSportsFan1990 that is pretty sad dude i bet dave has every std that exists, maybe not though i have no idea you should be happy with yourself man.

  • @TOSportsFan1990 That's funny as shit, dude!

  • @TOSportsFan1990 Me too. But you know, no matter how cool he is, no matter how much pussy he gets, can ever beat the fact that he's standing beside the best of the best: Alex Micheal and Eddie. No pussy could ever mean as much to me as my childhood band does. VH for life

  • @TOSportsFan1990 It doesn't last, it's time encapsulated, frozen for a moment.

  • Dave was in his vocal prime on this album. Every song just exudes his masterful sarcasm and attitude that nobody else has ever had, in any band, anywhere.

  • Very tasty bass intro by Mikey --- only to be outdone by Edward's genius solo

  • @Hunkola. LOL. You are one funny, and correct dude. Now let's raise that shot of Jaeger you always talk about and get ready for the new stuff, my brother!

  • @thisischavez --- I wanna raise a shot of Jaeger when the new single comes out ---- which is when? Fuck, tired of waiting......

  • Comment removed

  • @thisischavez --- I fully agree. I hope Eddie Van Hitler removes the muzzle from Dave and let him do uncensored interviews for this new album/tour. No interviews were done during the 2007/08 tour outside of the big presser at the Four Seasons and that was shitting on the fans and Ed was responsible. Dave needs to be Dave --- he's like a beast that needs to be "unchained".

  • incredible solo , one of eddie's best , vastly underrated

  • @flappospammo Not to mention amazing piece of rhythm guitar.

  • Only song i've seen on youtube where guitarists cover the solo instead of the rhythm . Some of the meanest rhythm guitar i've ever heard.

  • The intro reminds me of something from a 70s porn vid a little

  • whats hear to do tonight? anything?

  • Favorite recorded EVH guitar solo.

  • is there a faint 'wa-hoo' being yelled in the background between 3:03-3:07?

  • @joeglimmix more toward 3:05 or 3:06, I mean

  • this album leaves me shaking my head in wonderment

  • fair warning is the best van halen album there is

    just ask eddie

  • @coltsrule5150 Always was (and is) my favorite.

  • 4o\m/

  • Eddie's Best Solo on Record,hands down!

  • pure bliss at 2:30. Eddie's fingers are like Einstein on roller skates.

  • the whole album has got some kind of a dark atmosphere ... it brought me through many nights driving in my taxi ...

  • Album was almost named "Reggie's Song" due to the Reggae influence on the band during this time. You can hear it in the drum and bass lines especially in this song.

  • terrific plectra on the bass , he's a player

  • I just spent the past hour and a half on the baby video trolling. I feel like a good semeritan already.

  • @PowerMetalEuphonist Good man!

  • Correction:

    1. Fair Warning-By far the best album as a whole, especially if you like guitar.

    2. VH I

    3. 1984-could be switched with VH I, both great albums.

    4. Diver Down.-these last three albums are not on par with the first three.

    5. Women and Children First-never understood the love for this album.

    6. VH II-only took a few days to make and it shows. I'd probably put a couple of the Sammy albums ahead of this one.

  • @GalvestonSucksBalls I like VH II. Well, Somebody Get Me A Doctor, Bottoms Up, DOA, Light Up The Sky Anyway.

  • @GalvestonSucksBalls "Never understood the love for this album"

    Um, dude?

    Romeo Delight

    In a Simple Rhyme

    And the Cradle Will Rock

    EVERYBODY WANTS SOME

    WACF kicked ass!!

  • This is probably the saddest song I've heard with no acoustic guitars or piano.

  • I always thought this was one of his best guitar solo's

  • A true VH Purist Top 5 albums all-time:

    1. Fair Warning

    2. Van Halen I

    3. Women and Children First

    4. 1984

    5. Van Halen II

  • @Hunkola I agree except for Women and Children. Never cared much for that one. I'd drop it off the list and put Diver Down ahead of VH II.

  • My list of fav VH albums:

    1. Fair Warning

    2. Diver Down

    3. VH 1

    4. Women and Children First

    5. Balance.

  • People say Mikey was an average bass player, GET FUCKING REAL!

  • Diamond Dave, the ToastMaster General and King of Frontmen, combined with Guitar Hero Edward Van Halen, his older bro Alex and bass player extraordinaire Mike Anthony form the Mightiest Band of them all...VAN HALEN!!

  • Fuck this net, It's time to ROCK! Show them, eddie...

  • I think I've commented more than anyone else on this video...

  • Does it seem cold in here to you?No one ever pays any attention to Eddie's rhythm

    playing.

  • @tgtrmn1 Ever so true... that's why I like Act Like It Hurts. Great Instrumental, inspiration for modern version of House of Pain (after the solo).

  • Does it seem cold in here to you?

  • @tgtrmn1 No, I actually find it quite humid. Is there anything left in that bottle?

  • Yup this is their best album. Fin.

  • @PowerMetalEuphonist Dragon who?

  • I'm glad people respect this band, unlike all those DragonForce haters. BTW, please don't bring DragonForce hating onto a video like this. So if you hate them, please don't tell me.

  • Van Halen's best album, in my humble opinion. More angry, dark groove and soul than anything else they've released thus far. New stuff is on the way, though. I'm ready and anxiously waiting. Long live the mighty VH!!

  • How do you think the Intruder guitar track would sound with this song's backing track?

  • I always try and put the talking at the intro into conversation as much as possible.

  • Strange that this is their lowest selling album....because it's their BEST...by FAR!

This album has it all- the riffs, the solos, the humor, the darkness, the funkiness, the soul, the grime, the grit, the vocals, the relentless drumming....epic record for all times.

But we already knew that =)

  • Probably greatest guitar solo of all time ---- AGREE ??

  • I didn't know Dave was a smoker. He said gimme another cig at the beginning.

  • @bucky468 I don't think any of them denied themselves much of anything in their day. The only thing I ever heard Edward say he didn't do was drink dark liquor, be he felt clear liquor e.g. was "better for you". Kinda splitting hairs if you ask me.

Of course he later also said: "You really know you have a problem when you have to drink a six pack and smoke a joint just to feel normal in the morning".

  • @bucky468 Dave probably was addicted to many other products^^

  • Van Halen is said to be recording again, and has already locked in dates in Australia for a tour.

Can you say "New VH album and tour?"

    yay ^^

  • Hey, guys!! This record changed my life & influenced the Zaphod Beeblebrox outta my guitar playing!!

  • Bill Wyman anyone? Nah Mike's got this one

  • The reason I listened to this was to hear the interlude part at the end of chorus 1 & 2. This little atmospheric interplay between the two guitars is sheer joy.

Did Eddie ever do any parts like this since Fair Warning...I mean meshing two parts together so well so artfully two tracks of guitar ???

  • @eddiealexty - completely agree with you about that interlude part! it's got such depth.. amazing! it should have been longer!! taken it more places!

  • Great Album, however, as a kid I was a quite confused by the cover.

  • Sounds like cool jazz in the begining. Mike rocks on Bass on this one. you can hear every pluck.

  • @TheCoon71

    ✯indeed.✯

  • this is VH's "underground" album....great stuff....

i think it's my favorite VH album, as a matter of fact...

Ed's "brown sound" on full display !

  • @TheCoon71 are you really a coon?

  • this song is proof that Dave had it over Hagar{not knocking sammy} but Van Halen is Dave< Eddie<Alex<M.ANthony

  • awesome song, awesome album..

I wish they did more stuff like this!

  • @ninjamojo711 Yeah, same thing with Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. If you have listened to ''Remember Tomorrow'' by 'Iron Maiden' and ''Dreamer Deciever'' by 'Judas Priest' you know what I'm talking about ; )

  • bass is kicking ass go MA!! DAMN, this song is making thangs happen over here!

  • It's a Stones track out there that this reminds me of...

  • It's a shame this album didn't sell as well as their other albums...

  • Love to see this in karaoke form.

  • Sammy Hagar could never in a million years pull this off, people try to compare Diamond Dave with Sammy Hagar, there is no comparison.

  • You know, somebody actually had the nerve to say that Sammy Hagar sang on this song? I told that motherfucker to get the fuck out before I gave him a shove out my fucking door, that fucking moron. DIAMOND DAVE IS THE SHIT, if you EVER confuse him with that queer bag Hagar, then you have no idea what REAL Van Halen is

  • If it says Van Halen on the label and Diamond Dave is leading the way... BUY IT!!

  • probably my favorite VH song. absolute perfection, although in retrospect they could have extended it and made it even more epic, a la "miss you"-- which MA's blues/funk/disco bassline and EVH's riffage is a bit reminiscent of.

  • Great song!

  • This is the best!!

  • CLASSIC SHIT. BULLSHIT MUSIC

  • @DISNEYfan4Ever112 Go lick Justin Beiber's pussy then you fucking queer

  • @DISNEYfan4Ever112 Suck a dick...

  • Just a push-over. FUCKING CLASSIC DIAMOND DAVE, LOVE IT!!

  • 3 people are pushovers........

  • an this is a great clean tone!!!!!

  • Mikey!

  • I love that scream at 3:21.

  • Michael Anthony on the bass guitar. Enough said.

  • Is there anything left in that bottle?

  • OH FUCK ME === ONE TASTY SOLO IN THIS SONG

  • EVH at his absolute best..the solo is spine tingling..just a brilliant mix of rhythm, melody and flash. Perfect.

  • @wandcfirst I've always thought this was one of his very best. Both the rhythm track and the solo, smooth, subtle...just genius.

  • this so so fucking groovy it makes my body move to the beat

  • call and response phrasing. Real playing

  • When i hear this i want to get drunk

  • jump got airplay end of 83. album released start of 84.

  • In my opinion... The guitar solo in this song is Eddies finest moment. absolute classic!

  • @EricTF8770

    100% agree with you.

When people ask me why I like VH so much I point them to this album and in particular this song and the lead break - makes the body shudder.

  • I wish someone had bass tabs of this song....they bass makes this track

  • @longhornfan18 oh come on. you can easily figure it out by ear.

  • 2:49 - 2:51 greatest phrase ever!!!

  • No doubt one of Ed's best solos

  • too bad the track is so short!

  • the guy who thinks that this is gary hasbeen sharone is a fucking moron

  • A true guitar classic. Everything you would need to know in order to be a guitar player is in this song. Learn this tune note for note and you'll be on the road to fame and fortune in no time! The solo has Flamenco styled arpegios...tap harmonics, a nice series of two hand taps, while the rythmn pattern features funk, volume swells, clean tone w flanger, dirty brown tone. No huge Alex snare and hi hat. Charlie Watts styled drum track.

  • dude this is the forth VH album and the first six were with David Lee Roth on Vocals:

    1979: VH

    1980: VH II

    1981: Women and Children first

    1982: FAIR WARNING!!!

    1983: Diver Down

    1984: 1984

    All with David!!!

  • @TheRocksmylife You're 1 off on each year. The production year on the label of "1984" is actually 1983, believe it or not.

    78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83

  • @nonplayerzealot4

    yeah you´re right I´m sorry :)

  • @nonplayerzealot4 true. they released it on jan1st 1984, I remember it clearly. either way - they fuckin rocked back then hahahahahaha

  • @TheRocksmylife not that it really matters, but you're off by 1 year on all the albums except 1984. It goes:

    1978: VH

    1979: VH II

    1980: Women and Children First

    1981: Fair Warning

    1982: Diver Down

    1984: 1984

I know because I have all six of those albums in my hand right now and the dates are printed in the copyright notice on the back of each album.

  • @skorziks

    ok good to know :)

  • @skorziks Technically 1984 was recorded in 1983, but not released until January 9, 1984

  • One dislike?Probably from Slash, who wets himself every time he tries to play the rhythm guitar part of this song.

  • best song from the gary cherone era by far

  • @pdat10 What are you talking about? This is David Lee Roth!

  • @pdat10 Gary was NOT on the Fair Warning Album, DLR

  • @NicksEvilTwin1 gary wasnt on ANY of the successful albums!

  • @pdat10 you must've been born in a barn or some shit,.....either that or a lady gaga fan....gagagablahblah blah blah

  • @pdat10 Woah, press pause on your speech, NEVER confuse Diamond Dave with Cherone, EVER!!!!!!

  • Who was the dumb cocksucker who gave this thumbs down?

  • @tittyj2020 gary cherone

  • @tittyj2020 sum dum fuk
