really it seems like the old death metal genre died out when grind was staring to be mixed in. maybe older morbid angel, suffocation stuff like that was cool. but now its just a bunch of disjointed slow and fast riffs hacked together . no melody, song structure, feeling. Look also at stuff like grave, dark throne, morgoth, older pestilence.they didn't achieve heaviness through chugs and blast, it was the attitude and the song structure. @ lightning splitter, all great fuckin bands you mentioned

@opeth41 It really died out when bands like pantera took over the metal scene. Fusion between death metal and grindcore is perfectly natural, as bands like Dying Fetus and Suffocation demonstrate. What killed death metal was the mix with nu metal horseshit like slipcock.

I think Into Eternity is one of the best death metal albums I've heard. None of their other work can be a match to this.

I want to have their first two albums, but i think on ebay they get unbeliveable prices. They should re-release them. I've got a great collection, but the best disc are so hard to get, like these and god macabre's the winterlong!

@psychomaeggi88 They are re-released but they all have different artworks who look pretty lame incomparison with the originals. I also believe they got bonus tracks and that is another thing that just sucks.

You can have both originals for a little less then €30,-, which isn't to expensive like Spectrum of Death or the Book of Truth who are way to expensive!!!

i have about 18 years ago when i heard this song and disc!, for the new guys.. NEVER!!! BUT NEVERRRR the new discs cant compare with the death metal of the past.. your new age its ok, ... Ok.. its good.. but not better than death metal bands between 1988 - 1997, "into eternity" is one of the best swedish death metal discs ever!

@Goremaggedon so true man,death metal from back in the day is the best,the new age dont even compare,death meatal back then was original,authentic and haunting,new age death metal it's just copied and polished.the best death metal is from late eighties to late nineties,back then when i was all into it,it was something underground which is the way i wanted it,now days they shamelessly exploit the fuck out of it,the new age that is,which cheapens the genre all together,cant believe its mainstream.

@lightningsplitter Of course dude!, you can feel all the splendor in the old death metal discs, like spiritual healing of death, blessed are the sick from morbid Angel, consuming impulse (pestilence), mindloss(gorefest), Loudblast sublime dementia etc etc etc, suffocation effigy of the forgotten! xD hahaha, and all that old stuff, i remember the first time when i heard "the red in the sky is ours" from At the gates, so fucking original!, and what about mercyless?, hailz to the Old Death Metal!
