  • Ok folks,

Don't hate me for this but swearing just proves the point that your vocabulary isn't bi g enough to be able to express your feelings other ways 

  • Oh god I love that bit a the end of the piece It really shows his compassion 

  • This song makes me feel all happy inside!

  • IN FACT THAT APEARENCE OF THE CURE WAS IN THE MTV AWARDS I RECORDED TOO¡

  • EL OH EL @ their first American performance on Arsenio Hall show...Let the dogs out.

  • I WANNA SEE YOU DO THAT, BRITNEY! BUT NO LIPSYNC AND NO AUTOTUNE...OK, BRITNEY?

  • muito fixe

  • I just love how they're all in their places but Simon is jumping around the stage and the spotlight has to follow him around! After all this years I still enjoy these old performances as if it was the first time I saw them.

  • This was actually in 1989. Great clip though.

  • This is brilliant...thank you so much! I was 14 years old when I watched this and I still remember it like it was yesterday. My 25 year love affair with this band is still as strong as ever...

  • jason you are a motherfucker, get out ... boris come back men...!!!

  • The best Cure line up ever!

  • One of the best songs ever by one of the most original bands ever.

  • break my fucking heart for the 10th time

  • ....great performance!!!....everyone has their fave lineup...mine is the Robert, Roger, Simon, Perry, Jason...that was the most stable...although individually I love Porl, Andy, Lol...and Bloodflowers and The Top are the best...it is all subjective....

  • This was truly a magical appearance indeed!! I will never forget that night or that MTV used to actually play music and that they gave The Cure the true recognition they so deserved and worked so hard to achieve!! Love The Cure forever!! :)

  • I remember the night this premiered!! I was soooo glued to my television!! Couldnt believe they were actually on Arsenio!! My fav band of all time!! What a wonderful treat it was too!! Takes me back to that time when life was really filled with such magic!! The Cure truly rocks this song here as well!! And Robert is just gorgeous!! Hot Damn!! ILY Robert!!♥ The Cure forever!! ☺♪

  • @darkforest121 This was not The Arsenio Hall Show. This was The 1989 MTV Music Awards on Sept. 6 1989 in Los Angeles.

  • @BLACKMAGICNIGHT P.S. Actually, just glad that freakin Mtv gave them some damn reconginition they deserved back then. Back when Mtv was worth something for sure!! Miss those days as well!! :)) Take Care!!

  • @BLACKMAGICNIGHT Whoops!!!!! Wrong show huh? LOL Well, it was a long time ago and as I wrote this the other night, I was a bit loopy on my seizure meds so I saw Arsenio and forgot he just hosted the show!! LOL Anyway, forgive me!! Thanks for correcting me though!! Much appreciated!! I WAS completely glued to the television on that night though, that is for sure!! :)) Well, no matter what show The Cure is on, they are pure magic!! ☺

  • This actually is from 1989. September 6th, 1989 to be exact. Thanks for posting this awesome video. I agree that it's the best line up ever.

  • the drummer rocks!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Cure needs BORIS WILLIAMS back in that drumkit!

  • you cried because ur a pussy! xD

  • LOL...good one!....

  • hahaha

  • This is a good demonstration of the great importance of the drums in The Cure.

Boris knew how to give emotion to the songs.. something that is totally missed nowadays!

  • best moment in tv history

  • what happened to roger?

  • doesnt look like they rehearsed this much.

  • The Cure rules then and now...

  • I love the cure !!!

  • whos the guy introducing them

  • Arsenio Hall

  • The DRUMS make a BIG DIFFERENCE in The Cure. I hope Boris or a guy with similar influences, style, sound and creativity joins the band!

  • Wow I was depending on the time of the year 71/2-8yrs. old when this was aired.

  • i was 3

  • Same!...Though I never really heard/got into the cure till much later!

  • What a way to tv-debut in the US with their most beautiful pop-song!

  • This is from the MTV video music awards in 1989. Just a few weeks before I saw them on the Prayer tour. SWEET SWEET memories! I remember no late night talk shows would allow them, because they were a "punk" band and unsuitable for and American audience. so stupid!

  • so good!!!

  • Very good! This is actually a live performance.

  • This video is awesome. Boris Williams is the best Cure drummer.

  • he always look so shy ,i love the way he looks,so lovely

  • PERFECT VOICE in 88... PERFECT DRUMS

  • the drums make a huge difference! boris has a powerful style....jason is a fucking boring loser!

  • FIRST USA TV performance?

89 and Britain and Europe had been in love for The Cure for several years.

    ha.

  • The tempo dictated by Boris Williams on drums is incredible and really pushes the other instruments to create the atmosphere needed to re-create the studio recording.

It´s sad to hear this song live nowadays.

  • True

It´s Jason fault that this song sounds so so bad nowadays as you say.

Very enjoyable to hear this great Disintegration era version.

  • i totally 100% agree with you. VERY awesome observation. i <3 boris! by far the best drummer the Cure has ever had.

  • woooow, ThEcUrEfOrEvEr

  • Awesome! Just one thing, this was from Sep of 1989. They did this while here in the US during the Prayer Tour.

  • i wish i was 17 in 1988.

  • genial, simplemente genial

  • Just Perfect : )

  • Excellent version! great sound and great cameramen work too!

I hope to see this line up again soon.

  • Excellent sound & energy in the drums!

    Boris musicianship is unsurpassed.

Robert was at the peak of his career

Simon & Porl are great as always

Roger doing the necessary to make the song flow and not over playing like he did in 2000-2004.

The best line up with one of the most creative drummers alive.

  • Boris Williams: hardcore fans miss you man!

  • @SheMELtss

Like Me, we miss you a lot Boris

  • Was 1989 MTV Awards

  • i must say: "WOW"!!!!!!!!!

What an excellent version of this unbeatable classic 80s song!

I'm really impressed by the energy, musicianship, vibe of the band.

Robert Smith demonstrates why he is such a big influence nowadays.

    The drummer is GREAT!

    AMAZING performance!!!

  • The best line up ever!!!!!

  • Yep!

  • Yeah. That line up created some great albums - Disintegration as the best ever!

  • but he get credits for composing and his contribution is the worst in any other Cure drummer ever. And his live performances suck! jason must go home!!!!!!

  • Yes, The Cure changed with Boris departure. And changed for bad. They declined with each new album after Wish.

  • Boris, Boris, where are you now man????

Jason is destroying your drum patterns!!!!!!!!!

  • They were a great great band full of energy but now with their new 'drummer' are just a shadow of their past...

  • thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
