  • PAULSOARESJR!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • but the 3rd one.. burnt down fell over and then sank into the swamp.

  • my favorite part!

  • 1:21

  • my brother has been quoting monty python

  • Have to wonder if Kim Jong Il ever had an exchange like this with his son, the now new supreme leader of the DPRK Kim Jong Un.....

"Someday son... all this will be yours..."

    "What the curtains?"

  • I tried the whole "Won't leave the room" routine at work once. It actually worked!

  • but fatha...

  • The reason why the fourth one stayed up was because it was built over the first three

  • @AssualtgruppeVeir like san francisco lol

  • And in the next scene we get to see her huge tracts of land!

  • What the curtains?

  • Schwomp XD

  • So what's holding this castle up? the remains of the first 3? If that's the case, what will happen when the remains inevitably shift?

  • @artistwithouttalent Turtles all the way down.

  • @neglesaks All the way down? I was always told it was just 8. And if that were the case, then why didn't support the first three?

  • God I love this scene. Palin and Idle are each a bit of a genius.

  • Seven people don't want huge tracts of land.

  • That one burned down, fell over, then sank in the swamp XD

  • she's got hugeee.... tracts of land

  • it starts at 1:54

  • "one day lad all of this will be yours.." -the King

    "What the curtains?" -the Prince

hahaha i love this movie so much!!!! :)

  • I've always loved huge tracts of land.

  • does anyone know if the guard scene was improv? it certainly looks like it lol those guys are geniuses

  • @TheBlueflame25 A lot of the movie was improv. Hell, Tim the Enchanter only has that name because John Cleese forgot the character's actual name.

  • @rankaratar The fact that so much is improv is a shining testament to how comically brilliant these guys were.

  • @TheBlueflame25 NONE of the movie is improv. It's all scripted. People are all over this thread talking about ad-libbing and such, and that's just not true at all.

  • where are you goin

    we're coming with you

no no I want you to stay here and make sure he doesnt leave

    oh right

  • I think 7 people need a HUG ;) x

  • one of the greatest scenes of all the python films.

  • "Listen Alice"

    "Herbert"

    "Herbert" LMAO!!

  • first lines are pure gold.

  • oh go get a glass of water!.

  • I like how all Graham Chapman has to say during the entire scene is "...hic!"

  • My favorite scene of all time. It's GENIUS.

  • Don't like her? What's wrong with her? She is beautiful. She is rich. She's got huge...tracks of land. lmao Love that part.

  • I think my favorite part of this scene is the king recounting his castles at 0:28

"All the kings said I was daft to build a castle in a swamp, but I built it all the same, just to show 'em. It sank into the swamp. So, I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third one. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. BUT THE FOURTH ONE STAYED UP!"

  • "All this will be yours"

    "What? The curtains?"

  • Listen, Alice...

  • 1:28 hahaha

  • HUUUUUUGE....TRACTS OF LAND lol

  • i find myself quoting the first quote quite often in my head

  • @LuLuLuIGotSomeApple1 I came to this vid for the exact same reason

  • -"All these will be yours..."

-" What the curtains?? " heheh best movie ever

  • HUGE tracks of land!

  • shes got HUGE tracks of land! i found the tig ol bitties refrance now ;)

  • @LuLuLuIGotSomeApple1 finally, someone besides me that got the joke.

  • @LuminOfMoonlight i saw the comment from tig ol bitties, thanks now i get the joke :)

  • What language is this? It almost sounds like English.

  • @Wwallace67 -_- It is English

  • @Wwallace67 It's German.

  • I was brought here by YourFavoriteMartian

  • Ok let me help you guys out 1:23

  • "One day, lad, all this will be yours."

    "All the curtains?"

    "No, not the curtains, lad!"

    LOL!!!

  • If we're calling em tracts of land now then my girl has barely enough land to set up to pitch a tent on :(

  • h aha ha ha h ah ah ah a, fabtastic scene !

  • What a total wimp that son is. How on earth does the dad stop himself from battering some manliness into him.

  • @yallop9 why doesn't he take lessons from your own life , you are obviously a wimp and a coward, and your dad tried battering manliness into you, through shoving his manhood down your throat. Problem was you liked it and developed a taste for semen besides !

  • @MrSluggo666 Right, this is the superior intellect from the hendrix/Lennon so called collaboration clip. The highly educated purveyor of wisdom. I guess you can relate to the son in this clip as I tend to find wimps and cowards use anonymous abuse as a rule of habit generally. Great to see your education has been put to good use son!

  • @yallop9 Brevity being the sole of wit ,we can all see you are witless ! of course, you can't collect your thoughts into a concise statement, when all of your thoughts are of drinking your dads' milk! gee a whole week, you really are slow!

  • @MrSluggo666 The son in this clip and you are one, bonded into a spiritual union, a psychological matrimony. By following me to this clip, you have found your calling. To be as one with the son in this clip. Happy now son.

  • @flaxonx3 Sorry, I should have left you alone it's obvious from this rersponse, you need a week to reply, even changed your name ! out of fear perhaps?

  • @MrSluggo666 Now you're as one with the son in this clip, study him carefully. Yallop9 agrees this is your vocation, Harry5am too as does 15Peter20 who will have the tracts of land, castle & Princess Lucky seeing as you just want to sing.

  • @flaxonx3 Uh , why do you refer to yourself in the third person? oh yeah , the thought of being you ( an insufferable bore) is unbearable !

  • Greatest. Movie. Ever. Of all time.

  • A couple of kids performed this at our pops concert.. it was HILARIOUS!!! xD

  • "Listen, Alice..."

    "Herbert!"

    hahaha :)

  • 3:37 reminded me of the Disney opening/When You Wish Upon A Star...

... I wanted him to sing it D:

  • i wish he got a chance to sing D':

  • shut your noise you

  • I swear pretty much every line of this is funny

  • Lancelot was probably bi honey!

  • @ferretyluv ok gotcha. I'd like to c that. Can't actually picture Lancelot gay.

  • "but mother"

    "father, I'm father"

    xD

  • Hahahahaha lol Biggestv tracts of land i know what he wanted to say rofl :) *****

  • STOP THAT STOP THAT!! You're not going to do a song while I'm here.

  • i want a girl with huge tracks of land.

  • 6 people did get killed by sir lacalot

  • Unfortunately one of the most underrated scenes in the movie.

  • @451ianDragonist if you can call any scene in a movie this amazing underrated.

  • @ferretyluv Never seen Spamalot, tho it duznt surprise me tht he gay married. Wuz it to Lancelot? I had heard tht he wuz gay in it.

  • @Kuroneko388 Yeah, it was to lancelot.

  • It's so great that cute lil' Michael Palin can play a big burly bear as well.

  • @ferretyluv He's a lumberjack. He sleeps all night and works all day.

  • Listen alice.....

    .........Herbert XD Lol

  • I think he called him Alice b/c of how girlish n fragile he acts. It makes sense why the guy got his name wrong. The lines in this part r hilarious.

  • @Kuroneko388 And that's why he got gay married in Spamalot.

  • TVtropes brought me here. Is this a movie of some sort? This looks familiar.

  • @Pooky1991 This movie is called, "Montey Python and the Holy Grail." It's making fun of king arthur. it is a really really funny movie.

  • @Ahkshabaz It's not making fun of King Arthur. All these stories they show are canon Arthurian legends. Even the Castle Anthrax. Even Lancelot bursting into a wedding in a berserker rage and killing everyone. The Black Knight is based on a different Anglo-Saxon legend, I think.

  • @Pooky1991 I weep for this generation. I'm only 2 years older than you, and I can firmly say you truly have no culture if you don't know Monty Python.

  • what, the curtains? lol!!!!!

  • @ 0:58 it's Morrissey's ancestor!!

    XD

  • He looks like King Leonidis ( this is sparta ! )

  • Ah, "Tracts of land."

Much like "talent" isn't it? (cookie if you get the reference!)

  • @dragon8writer ... Moulin Rouge?

  • lol 1:29

  • The king said it was DAFT to build a castle in the swamp! But I built it all the same, just so show em! It sank into the swamp...

lolz this whole movie is genius

  • I was thinking about this part at work today and I about started laughing my ass off. I was sitting by myself and really had to fight so ppl wouldn't think I was insane or something.

  • But Ferther...

  • This is my girls' favorite scene when Herbert's father interupts him from his singing. I agree from how the music stops. Still, it makes me happy to know her favorite scene.

  • "AND NO SINGING!"

  • Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un, everybody

  • The first castle...that sunk into the swamp, SO I BUILT A SECOND CASTLE and that sunk into the swamp aswell then the 3rd castle, that caught on fire, fell over and sunk into the swamp xDD

  • But i don't want any of that...

    i'd rather just....

    Listen Alex,

    Herbert!...

  • @streetspiritlive Think it's "Alice," not "Alex."

  • WE LIVE IN A BLOODY SWAMP!

  • 2 of my friends performed this skit in drama class :) I was an extra (aka the hiccuping guard)

  • what the curtains? lmao

  • I wonder if this is where JMS got the idea for Babylon 5. The first one blew up. The second one blew up. The third one blew up. The fourth one disappeared without a trace...and probably blew up. But the fifth one stayed! That's what you'll get Commander. The strongest station in this neutral territory!

  • Michael Palin is so great in this part!!!!

  • king looks like zack dingle!

  • Who guards the guardsmen?

    Bloody idiots.

  • We're coming with you! BWAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • The only reason the 4th castle stood up was because it was supported by the other 3 castles despite the 3rd one burning and falling over.

  • No, just STAY here, and MAKE SURE he doesn't leave the room.

  • Oh, go an' get a glass of water.

  • what the curtains? hahaha

  • We're coming with YOU!

  • She's got HUGEEEEEE!!!! tracks of land....

  • "Listen, Alex!'

    "Herbert?!"

    "Herbert!!"

  • @texanhoustonguy I always thought it was Alice...

  • I found a T-Shirt on thinkgeek that says "Huge tracks of land"

Needless to say I'm getting that. xD

  • and NO SINGING! Oh go and get a glass of water.

  • This is the funniest scene from the movie, pure delight! Does anybody know of anyplace that tells which pythons wrote which parts?

  • "One day, lad, all this will be yours."

    "What, the curtains?"

    "No, not the curtains, lad!"

  • Listen, Alice!

  • not to leave the room, even if you come and get him.

  • This is absolutely the funniest scene in the movie.

    We're coming with YOU!

    LTIC!

  • Ouch making you hurt from laughing.

  • Absolutely legendary. One of the best MP scenes ever.

  • Classic. I burst into tears every single time I watch this!

  • HUUUUUGE tracts of land.

  • I want curtains.

  • "She's beautiful, she's rich, she's got huge... tracts of land!"

  • @onemidnightgone

sorry for the mistake. wanted thumbs up for this!

  • @onemidnightgone I managed to get this quote into my 3rd year history essay at university. Only I was speaking about Cistercian monks in 14th C Scotland being, rich, powerful with huge tracts of land. Got a decent grade as well, but I knew my lecturer and examiner liked Monty Python. Otherwise I would never have taken the risk!

  • Out of all scenes in Holy Grail, this one is by far the funniest and the best.

STOP THAT, STOP THAT! YOU'RE NOT GOING TO DO A SONG WHILE I'M HERE!

  • Let's not bicker and argue about who killed who!

  • Princess Lucky - I love that name.

  • "But the fourth one... stayed up!"

    XD

  • Isn't the Father actually from Yorkshire? C:

  • My favorite is, when the Dad is like: "Alex" Hubert

  • alice!

  • You mean Herbert. =D

  • My favorite part in the whole movie.

    "What the curtains?"

    "But mother!(father)"

    "I just want to sing!"

  • "One day, lad, all this will be yours."

    "What, the curtains?"

    "No, not the curtains!"

    I love this scene!

  • really great _O_

  • she's got huge.... tracts of land!

  • I want the girl I marry to have huge...tracts of land.

  • So do I (. ) ( .)

  • 2:59 lol

  • LOL. "We're coming with you!"

  • Guards, make sure the prince doesn't leave the room until I come and get him!

Not to leave the room, even if you come and get him.

No, until I come and get him!

Until you come and get him, we're not to enter the room.----Best part!!

  • "Woa hold on! Youre not gonna make song when Im around."

    x'D

  • "Just me..." "Just you..." "HIC!" "Get back." That's what makes Graham Chapman a great comedian. Impeccable timing, even if he's just hiccuping.

  • "She's beautiful! She's rich! She's got HUGE...

    tracts of land."

  • @TimelesslyTian Best line of the movie, classic!

  • @TimelesslyTian One way or another.

  • "They thought I was daft to build it on the swamp, but I built it all the same! It sank into the swamp. I built another one. It sank into the swamp, so I build a third one. That burned down, fell over, THEN sank into the swamp." lmao one of the best scenes ever
