  • Philly's finest! Gorgeous music.

  • Fantastic

Beatiful tone and chord voicings and swinging time

One thing in this situation If you could minimize the foot tapping sound it would result in a better recording.

  • @gbtayc Haha that's a funny comment. Actually I like the foot tapping and try to get my students to tap so they feel the time physically and not intellectually and also develop the coordination (much like a drummer) to gain over the bar line techniques. Also, I wasn't going for a studio recording here. Just a solo guitar take on Dolphin Dance.

    Ciao,

    Steve Giordano

  • @jzguru1

It's a beautiful rendition and could be a keeper without the foot tap

But I realize that is not what you were going for.

I don't know if you can repeat this level of performance at will but this sounds like an on moment to me.

    Best to you.

  • @jzguru1 It sure sounds like it can go on a cd to me. I'd buy it. Speaking of which do you have any solo or trio music for sale? Love the arrangement.

    Nick

  • @ubik238 Hey Nick, thanks for your interest. I do have lots of various combinations on CD for sale. Various duos, trios, quartets, and quintets with different combinations. You can write me here for more details:

  • All one can say is nice! The guitar looks like an HR incognito,

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I discovered your website a few months back and continue to be inspired EVERY time I hear you play. What an absolutely beautiful rendition of this tune. Really makes me want to pick up my instrument and explore. You prove in your playing that possibilities are endless...God bless!

  • Thanks Mark! And thank you for writing me that thoughtful email.

    Ciao my friend,

    Steve Giordano

  • Had to come back and hear some very masterful playing filled with space and taste.

  • I am stunned. 39 years of devouring guitar music and today I have discovered another musical genius. Mr. Giordano, your music moves me deeply.

  • The old Koontz has mellowed well! Great playing! Who does your repair work?

  • @jazz1bro Haven't needed any

  • man, you play so beautifully, Steve. Always great to hear you.

  • @MillerOriaDuo Thank you Mike, and likewise!!!!

  • Just beautiful Steve!!!!!!! Jimmy Bruno

  • @JimmyBrunoJazz Thank you for that, Jimmy. That was very nice of you.

    Ciao,

    Steve

  • Bravo! You're one of the few players of the instrument who really has something to say.

  • Thanks for the response. I think he said he was from Wilmington Delaware, I wonder if his folks or family are still there. You didn't by any chance know any of them. Any way nice chatting with you, if you stumble on any info drop me a line.

  • Hi Steve, you sound great man. About 25 years ago I did a few gigs with a guy named Bob Deputy in Florida who used to talk about this guy from Philly "Steve Giordano" and how good he was. He was so right. Have you heard from Bob, or know his where about, I'd like to touch base with him.

  • @onelatstep Hi, I love Bob. I also lost total touch with him. I think about him from time to time but he has vanished from the face of the earth.

    Thank you for the compliment.

    Steve

  • Wow! Real nice ideas in the solo section. I really like your comping / chord-melody too. Thanks for posting.

  • What kind of guitar is that? I think Gilad Hecksleman plays that same guitar.

  • @HendrixcommaMartin It's called a Koontz and it's made by the late great Sam Koontz.

  • Steve Dawg !

    It's Freddy. Awesome

    Dude brings back great

    Memories !

    God Bless.

  • Total melodic freedom with one of the strongest inner groove I have ever heard !!

You sing over these tricky changes and make it sound easy !!

  • Muy bueno!!

  • Wow.

  • very f n!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love your harmonic language and counter melodies. I also appreciate your use of note bending, something far too many jazz guitarists neglect.

  • I've been using Tomastic Bo-Bop which has a .013 1st.

  • You look a bit like Joe Pass. And you play like a combination of the former and Jim Hall.

  • Very cool

  • BEAUTIFUL!!

  • That was my friend... Please ignore that...

  • Excellent, Steve! Thanks for sharing.

  • steve....just brilliant artistry that you continue to deliver. I just listened to this 6 times and hear something new with each listening.......you now top my list of favorite players to listen to solo....once headed by Joe Pass and Tal Farlow...God Bless.

    Phila., Pa,

  • steve, this is incredible. You sound amazing as usual. I hope I can take lessons again, once I graduate and return to Philadelphia. -Ryan

  • Steve is without a doubt, a Philly hidden Gem! A Great Artist!

  • The genius of Mr. Giordano-!! I had the pleasure to study with Steve for several month and learned a wealth of information on harmonic concepts and how to relax and "let the music be the teacher." If you can't go by his house for lessons do your playing a favor and visit his site for an incredible phone or email harmony lesson.

As always very well done Steve-!!
