Hi Colin, could do with some advice mate, looking to invest in a good multitool and want to weight up size and weight but robust enough for weekends in the woods etc. Ideas?
@howesmat Hi mate, yeah the Wave is a great all round tool at a decent price, there are many others out there too, have a look at the Victorinox Spirit too.
@ColinOutdoors just out of curiousity why exactly does the UK not allow guns? its been proven in cities like in my country such as our capital washington DC, that gun bans make crime higher, and more guns = less crime. DC has a 100% gun ban and it has the highest crime rate in the united states. and correct me if im wrong the bobby's (sorry if i used the wrong term) now carry guns because crime has increased since the uk gun ban.
my father got me a leatherman before, lost it ages ago though, i was very pissed off at the time, cool that maxpedition sheath goes with the mut! saves splashing out on one!! the hammer looks a cool feature and the bottle opener, NEVER TOO EARLY FOR A DRINK HAHAHAHA!! cool vid man, Thumbed and faved!
Thats a nice multitool im not a big user of them because some MT's look as if they are flimsy but this you can see its got guts im getting one minds made up great vid bro
ive never realy gone for multi tools when im out and about, just cant justify the wieght, but that looks quite a bit handier than what ive seen, gerber suspension, leatherman wave etc, ill have to see if i can find one and give it a good look my self
Colin this is a really great multi tool. The fact that the spare bits fit in the tool and not in a separate case has sold this to me. Thanks for sharing this video.
@SSTTEEAALLTTHH Hi Christophe. I use a Berghaus Freeflow on most occasions. I hope you get yourself a leatherman soon my friend, great tools. Take care
I've never seen that brand in any store in Belgium. I'm using a Jack Wolfskin Mountaineer 30 for the moment, which is an alpine backpack, because my Haglofs is in repair. But even though it's meant for mountaineering, I find it does a nice job on hikes. The only downside is it has few compartments.
Damn! Now I have to buy one of these too... Although I don't own an AR-15 (yet), I do have several other handguns and long guns and I can see where this would come in handy out hunting/shooting. It also has a lot of great uses in the outdoors as you effectively pointed out. Thanks for the vid!
Colin, if i were walking, (Through the woods, not my local shopping centre) would there be a chance of coppers nicking me for carrying this. Thats if i were to get one.
@dontmakepatarangry Well I have never been stopped and searched. I always find it important to adhere to the law. If you have a valid reason for carrying the tool (bushcraft etc) then you should be fine :-)
@dontmakepatarangry I personally think it is a valid reason. Remember this, why are these tools easily available in the UK? Stores like Argos sell Leatherman's, so its perfectly fine to own and use these tools in the correct circumstances.
@ColinOutdoors Thank you for your time, i have been considering something a bit bulkier than a victorinox. (im not saying they are bad tools, nor am i saying that im going to get a parang)
@dontmakepatarangry No problem Patrick, glad to help. Perhaps look at the Leatherman Wave, got plenty of tools and perhaps more versatile than the MUT
@vfthb098 Nice one my friend, yes I have found it very useful so far. I do believe that the Wave or Charge has more utility and is easier to carry but the MUT is still a great tool.
Good stuff, Colin! You did a great job of explaining what the features of the MUT are, how they work and how components are stored. Superbly thorough!
@ColinOutdoors Great Vid man! Not sure why it took so long for me to sub you've got a great channel. But I've got one issue! It's never to early to start drinking mate! It's always 5 o'clock somewhere LOL!
Colin, nice review. Unfortunately, your little idea about switching the saw blade and the knife blade won't work because the blade tangs are ground in such a way that they will only engage the lock on the sides for which they were designed: they won't work otherwise. It was a nice idea to fix a problem, but alas....
Good vid, Colin, this looks like a good knife for firefighters and other first responders. Myself, I have the Leatherman Wave, that I got as a gift. I would reccomend it to anyone.
Hey Colin, not sure if you noticed or if anyone said it yet (didn't read all the comments here). But if you leave the smaller of the three bits in the driver it acts as a safety device, blocking the V-cutter from accidently cuting something you dont want to, like you sheath or pants. Awesome vid by the way. Keep up the strong work. Thanks.
Once again Col, great review! it has everything u could possible need, just somthing about it that just dosn't do it for me (every1 is different ha) gald you like it thou, i realy do enjoy ur presentation style brother, have my daughter here so i have been on YT as much (hiking, camping etc =] ) nut im glad i checked in and watched ur reveiw, hope all is ok with u and urs stay warm and stay safe brother
@TheDishD Hey Dishy, good to hear from you my friend, hope all is well down there, seen the pictures of the Hurricane/typhoon hitting the east coast. Hope you and your family are safe my friend. Thats great you and your daughter have been out hiking and camping, hope you are having a good time. Take care :-)
If you go on the leatherman website, they have a Bit Kit available. I believe it adds 42 new bits to the existing 3 double sided ones. I'm not sure if its currently available for civilian purchase though.
@PodeCoet Thanks my friend, glad you got the MUT, its a great tool, sorry to hear your wrench was missing, I think if you contact Leatherman, they will send you one :-)
Great review! The presentation was right on, and all the info one can think of. I don't think you missed any of the tool functions on that multi. I saw one at the store and almost bought it till I saw the price tag of $125. As a gun owner I may have to get it sooner or later.
Another great video my friend. I am not sure if I am sold on this. I have the super tool, the wave and a gerber pro scout. Each of those has tools I love and prove useful, not sure about some of the ones on this unit.
Thank you for the review, I have never seen this reviewed before, and I did not think it was consumer friendly, but you have pointed out some really cool uses for the AR15 specific items. Thanks again for another great review!
You mentioned that you didn't want an AR-15 because you live in the U.K. Is that just because it's illegal for you to have one or do you have another reason? Great review...and I love my leatherman WAVE. :)
@ColinOutdoors Man that sucks... I can't imagine not having a firearm. But yeah I use my wave all the time on the job. It's a sturdy and efficient tool. :)
@ColinOutdoors If you ever make it to the heartland you'd be welcome at my place. But some of the shooting ranges here are pretty incredible.. H&H gunrange a few hours from where I live has a computerized "virtual hunting" archery range.
Hey Colin, best review of this tool I seen so far, thumbs up mate.
Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable using a tool for a task that was designed for something else, but that's just "my mileage" as Nutnfancy would say. :)
oh yeah, im working on my own design of how to alter one or two of the featers on the mut to change them to a more "bushcraft type tool". If it works out, youll be the first to know. If one doesnt own an ar15 or carry plastic explosives in his pack, why not alter the details to be more pack friendly and useful? huh? Ive come up with some cool ideas, now, lets see if they are possible. If so, maybe i'll take it upstairs for tool design to see. have the next tool named after me :-)
@PHARRAOH Alan thats a pretty amazing concept you have come up with, sounds brilliant. I hope it goes through and they call the new tool the Alan Bushcraft Leatherman or something :-) Good luck my friend, take care.
Colin, you mentioned tolerances, yes, they are tight. when we are designing and building the dies used for stamping out the components, we must hold a plus or minus 4 tenths spec! now, a human hair is about .004 on average, divide this by 4 and then that by another ten and you see where I'm going. I do the work with a microscope. we have 11 new dies in the works. All new and different tools. I'll get some out your way when the first come of the line my friend. peace be with you. Alan
@PHARRAOH Hi Alan, wow those are very tight tolerances. Sounds like very skilled work you do. The MUT is perfect in almost every aspect, you and your colleagues do a great job :-) Yeah I seen some of the new tools on a couple of blogs, they look really interesting.
I carry a Leatherman charge. Leatherman products are the best, most versatile multi tools around . I use it in the outdoors, and regularly for household projects. Tonight I put a desk together with it.
yes great vids as always i just have a replica leather man and i find it enough for my needs ut this does look pretty impressive

Great review my man.
