  • This is such a great video, I learned a lot! Thank you. I just wish I could learn the traditional Chinese words instead of simplified, but otherwise I really like this video!

  • how to say much is this item

  • 'when are you going to back to china?'

how to say this in chinese, thanks

  • @mbtheja Hi, thanks for your request...

Recently I have stopped making new videos on youtube... Instead, I've got a formal course running to teach you Chinese sentences that are relationship oriented.

Please fell free to visit my website to find out more details about this.

    Cheers!

    Lan

  • @mbtheja when are you going back to china-Nǐ shénme shíhou huí zhōngguó?

pronounced as-knee, shenmuh, shuhouh, hwey, shong, gwuh

happy to help, but if this didnt help then sry..........

  • ^ ^ I'm so happy you requested me as a friend. Your videos are straight to the point and very well explained.

    Xiè xiè <3

  • @PunkStar6661 ^_^ thank you very much, I am glad that you enjoyed it! Cheers!

  • do you have a cantonese version? :)

  • @nieniekim Sorry but I teach Mandarin only...

  • I've taken a lot of classes in Chinese but I think by far you've the best ways of teaching Chinese. Thanks a lot for those lovely short videos and keep them coming.

  • @agmsd ^_^ thanks for your appreciation... I hope I can keep up with it and improve it to be even better... glad to know where I am at too... Cheers!

  • for me is very difficult to pronounce the "ji"

  • @SeriousSam505 Yes, some pronunciations are not in English. It comes into practice, and that's why I have included the facial demo of pronunciations in the middle of the video. Hope that helps a little ^_^ Cheers!

  • oh, btw, lan, i ever say "huo hui you qi, zai jian" when i leave chinese restaurant, haha^^ its a good phrase! i hope i'm allowed to copy that, haha~~~

  • It is " HOU hui you qi " rather than "huo"~^^

  • oh sorry, my bad~~ i typed to fast...

  • @12345Fok12345 :D haha, awesome~~ Yeah, use it, practice it and master it :D I am glad that it is useful for you!

  • How do you say: I Miss You

  • I miss you --- wo xiang ni

  • thank you!

  • @Champollion881124 :D thanks for helping!

  • i love chinese culture! i just visted china few weeks ago for a month. i love Kunming.. City of Spring!

  • @4k3el That's great ^_^ thanks a lot, and Merry Xmas!

  • This is really great!! I hope to maybe see some intermediate language lessons at some point.

Princess, "Im going to Taiwan" is "Wo yao qu dao Taiwan." 我要去到臺灣. I actually came to Taiwan a few months ago.

You should note that the characters he is using in the video are simplified characters and they use traditional characters here in Taiwan.

  • Hi Deviant, I think normally we just say 我要去台湾, but I think 我要去到台湾 makes sense too. Cheers!

  • Thanks heaps,everyone!

But how does it translate into "i want"? Wouldn't it be something like "我打算"?

    Merry late Christmas! ^_^

  • if u wanna express "i want", u can both say 我打算去台湾 and 我想去台湾~

  • xie xie Lan, a sentence that truly could come in handy =o)

It's great that you repeat the sentence several times, if time allows, it makes the sound of pronunciation more real.

May I ask you something about the end words?

I've heard in several movies that someone who have been looked in says: kāi mén a

what does the a stand for ?

Keep up the good work, I will await with suspense for the next lesson.

zhù nǐ zhōu mò yú kuài Pim

  • i think this "a" doesn't have a meaning... do you talk about this? 啊 its the same like the o 哦. hmm.. its difficult to explain... i think, if you are very happy to go to china, you can say "wo qu zhong guo a" or if you are veeery much bored, you can say "wo hao wu liao a"

  • and i think the o is used if you are talking to girls. for example, if you say "thank you" to a girl, you can say "xie xie ni o" or if she is cute "ni hao ke ai o"

but this "o" can also mean "i see" ... if you are chatting with chinese, they often say 哦。

i hope i helped you a little bit and i hope my words are correct~ (if could be that i'm wrong, cause i'm also a starter at learining chinese~~)

greetings~~ and good luck in learinig chinese~~

  • bute note: not every girl like this. i know a girl, she thinks this is gay if a boy sayes this o to them every time~~ so, it depends on if she likes t, or not~~

  • Ops, I should have seen this note before I replied your last note...

  • Hi Fok,

I tried the "xie xie ni o" technique for a couple of times...

It didn't work so well as I expected, cause actually I met some girls like guys to be strong... and as I grow older this happens around me more often...

But I think it does help to practice Chinese :D

    Good luck!

    Lan

  • all the words like 啊, 哦,喔,呵呵 and so on are representing a way of expression. So they expression a kind of feeling in the sentence. :D Thanks Fok!

  • The word "a" is a tone of speaking, it usually expresses some feelings like excited happy or moderate.

Here it bings a moderate tone when u express the meaning of "open the door". But it's not so much polite as Qǐng kāi mén(Open the door plz).

It is an Imperative mood if u only say "kāi mén", so usually we put an "a" in the end when speak to friends~ But if u r in anger or u speak to youngers, u can just say as kāi mén~

If u speak to elders, u'd better put a Qǐng in front.

  • Hi "Champ..."

Thank's for you reply. I think you are right the persons where in kind of a stress so they would use 'kai men a' (in this case the a is used in the centence like ma and me in others)

For me it's a narow world of Chinese as the most used phrases are those who sticks first as I watch a lot of Chinese movies. And the around / advanced talk comes a bit on 2:nd place.

Have a nice weekend =o) Pim

  • Yeah, I have heard that learning Chinese vocally will come in handy, versus learning reading and writing at the same time. And to learn a new language starts from the very basic. So I will say, learn to speak first, and then to listening, and start with the most useful phrases for you :)

    Cheers!

    Lan

  • Man, you are th Santa to me this year! Great helping! Merry Xmas!

  • Hi Pim, miss frog lover,

    Merry Xmas to you :)

As viewing thought the discussion, @Champollion881124 has done a great job of explanations. I am glad someone helped while I am somewhere else busy with making my formal course...

And thanks for your feedback about the repetition. I will keep it up with the work. Cheers!

    Lan

  • How do you say "I'm going to Taiwan"?

    woooo XD

  • Hi Princess, you can follow @DeviantPride 's advices. But I would like to offer one correction. It is "我要去台湾 (wo3 yao4 qu4 tai2 wan1) instead of 我要去到台湾". conceptually speaking, "到" has a meaning of "arriving". Since "going to Taiwan" means not arrived yet, 到" is not spoken in this sentence.

Hope that helps a little, Cheers!

  • xie xie ni wo ke yi shuo zhong wen zui hao

  • That's awesome! I think your pinyin is quite good!~
