@dumbblond07 There is no physical way, methodology or means to literally measure chemicals in the brain. That is a fact. The hypothesis of chemical imbalance cannot be proven, yet it has been acted upon as true. I am here to explain to you it is a fallacy that makes big pharma a lot of money, blood money. Since the 1980's every mother who killed her own children was on these drugs, same for the school shootings, and high rate of military suicide, the list goes on and on, drugawareness{}org
Scientific studies show exercise has as much of an effect as these life threatening drugs. Often there can be a genetic mutation that doesn't allow the body to properly absorb folic acid, very important in brain health and mental well being. "MTHFR C677T" is a simple blood test. High quality nutrition can provide the body serotonin. Serotonin can only be increased via food source, like cacao beans or unprocessed cocoa powder used to make chocolate. Seek truth & natural solutions!
@smartblonde07 Drug companies are known to make 20 BILLION a year convincing people they need an antidepressant alone and pay out only 2 BILLION in wrongful death lawsuits. I'd say they have a pretty good business model going. Even John Virapen M.D. who got the antidepressant ball rolling in the 1980's in Sweden wrote his tell all book and the title says it all Side Effect: Death. Confessions of a Pharma Insider. He says the science is bad. Read Prozac: Pancea or Pandora? You got a lot to learn.
@smartblonde07 You lost anyone to drug induced suicide when clearly on the box it says "compared to placebo causes suicidality" or have another relative drop dead from prescription blood thinners that are literally nearly equivalent to rat poison. I didn't think so. Go take your candy from the doctors. Nature's way of weeding out the weak and stupid. You are hardly a "smart anything" if you don't know the facts. 200,000 die per year due to prescription meds and only 20,000 to illicit drugs.
the fact is, these drugs change people's lives. i agree that medicine shouldn't just be thrown at people (ie, ADs at people just going through a "rough patch"), but psychological disorders are enough of a stigma. if you convince people who have an ACTUAL chemical imbalance in their BRAIN that they don't need treatment, they will be MUCH worse off than if they didn't seek treatment. and that is just plain irresponsible, just for him to have his little ego trip.
He's basing all this ENTIRELY on his own knee-jerk reactions. Yes, drug companies r required 2 list these side effects. But do u RLY think, after yrs of scrutiny by the FDA they'd be allowed on the market if they were THAT bad? Guess what? I have a prolactinoma. The drug I am on supposedly has side effects such as hallucinations, nausea, etc, etc. I've been taking it 4 a month & I feel fine. Just bc 2/230 ppl in a clincal trial get a little sick doesn't mean the drugs going to make you die.
Wow. Awesome. Psychological disorders r enough of a stigma as it is. This should really help. And yeah, sometimes there r side affects. But if in the trials, 1 person gets hit by a train, they still have to report that as a "death." Just because it CAN happen, doesn't mean it will happen every time u take a drug. Even drugs for conditions KNOWN to exist have side affects and are not fool proof. There are NO easy/fast/perfect cures in this world. Doctors do the best to help they people they can.
@tipaction@tipaction It is not a proven scientific fact that depression is caused by a "chemical imbalance". It is a hypothesis, not proven, yet acted upon as if true. I expect science will eventually prove malnutrition the root cause of depression.
@Charlotte333 guess what? if you knew anything about science, you'd know that there's NO SUCH THING as a "proven" scientific "fact." ALL things in science are, down to the essence, THEORIES. gravity? a theory. but do you see us floating into the stratosphere? no. that's because empirical study after empirical study SUPPORTS and continues to reinforce the theory. it can never be PROVEN. it can come 99.9999% close to that, but will never reach 100%.
I think that by "unresolved symptoms" they mean the symptoms that come with depression, such as loss of appetite. These commercials are the worst, yes. But that doesn't mean we can take the liberty of confusing medical conditions with symptoms.
if u can't sleep try folic acid, iron and vitamin b12........... 2 billion people world wide are iron deficient
