Nah! It was superficial beauty. Starting from it's conception, it was corrupt. Constantine killed off any other belief system. It was a center of slavery, and any person not christian - esp. the Slavs in E. Eur. were enslaved. The rulers had huge harems, & to guard them, tptb established the Varigian Guards, males which were castrated. The Rulers wanted banquests and races and circuses, no responsibility, so the reins of gov. were given to the Eunuchs. etc.
