  • EIPC

  • Rachmaninov...Grimaud...Abbado, what else could I want ?

  • .....I came at 10:05.......!!!

  • Bravo!

  • I never heard of her before and am stunned by ths great interptretation of a difficult piece, plus, she's beautiful. Love the expressions on her face when she plays.

  • I wish they'd leave the long applause segment in every video of this concerto. It really is the icing on the cake to hear an audience appreciate a great performance.

BTW, please check out my own original Piano Concerto No 2 in D Minor Opus 2 on my Homepage, written in the neo-romantic style.

  • holy slut eyes at 3:43

  • This is the best version of Rachmaninov piano concerto No.2 ! ! Love it~~~

  • @jezmuff Stupid comment

  • @jezmuff Idiot!

  • 두 말 필요없는 최고의 피아노 협주곡. 그리고 대단한 연주......

  • wow, the conductors looks very similar to Ted Danson!

  • 狼女 果然超级出色 AMAZING

  • Amazing!

  • extraordinaire comme ça swingue! du bonheur à l'état pur.. il y en avait du fluide qui circulait ce soir-là à Lucerne!

  • STAND THE FUCK UP AND APPLAUD STUPID AUDIENCE

  • This... is... just... beautiful.

  • Abbado...the man can conduct with just the look in his eyes! And Grimaud has always been a champion at this concerto, her playing is never sentimental but always honoust and extremely powerful. This is simply magic!

  • no words...just amazing!

  • Eyes full of tears

  • merveilleuse Hélène, magnifique Rachma

  • this is the best interpretation of this movement. i don't know but others' versions are fast and slow in all the wrong place ><. maybe it's just because i'm most used to this version.

  • @katehoney90 It probably is because you're most used to this one. :p I'm really used to both the Kissin and Ashkenazy versions, so I felt that the last bit of the cadenza before the theme in this movement was a bit too fast here, and the last section was a bit too slow. :p

  • @alexface211 *The last bit of the cadenza going into the major theme, near the end.

  • @katehoney90 Try Richter and Karajan, available on Deutsche Grammophon.

After years, this remains my favorite :) It's an astounding performance. I just looked on Amazon, and found that a good number of people agree. Out of the 26 reviews, 24 are a perfect five-stars.

  • Fantastic Grimaud!! Anyway, did anyone notice Maurizio Pollini at 12:50? :)

  • perfect, thanks for uploading this!

  • abbado rules

  • Hélène is so good and I think Rachmaninov piano concerto No.2 in C minor will

    be my best music song

  • This is great...however i am not educated very much in music, only sometimes i think the pianist is too slow, and her frases is wrong. and it feels like the conducter looses track of what happens. however totally it is a nice recording and wonderfull played.

  • @Jovomusic ahahhahaha conductor loosing track, i i think u must get a bit more educated for understanding anything :)) this is one of the greatest conductor of all time ahahhahah

  • @frenkgsi Hehe...yes I think you are right...I was loosing track myself due to too much redwine that day I watch this. However, I do not like the she play the piano, andI have trouble saying why...I need to think about that ...Anyway, great conductor or not, and great musucian do also make mistakes....now, have a nice day.

  • I quite agree with 'hicsuntalieni'. This performance is a metaphor of how society could be - and is, on rare occasions. I love the clarity and strength with which the strings, in particular, but the entire Lucerne Festival orchestra combine with the piano to give an exceptional 'ensemble' sound and performance. As the French would say, "c'est du jamais vu". To my ears, the best interretation of Rach 2 I've heard, which is saying a lot. I still remember Christina Ortiz and others' versions.

  • Grandioso Rachmaninov....e grandiosi i musicisti che ne sanno trarre la Sua Grande Espressività Musicale. W la Grande Musica...e i Grandi Interpreti.

  • amazing stuff. My favorite interpretations are still zimerman's and richter's, but this one is great as well.

  • Hélène is great. Wish society could work a bit more like this performance -- everyone playing their part with concentration and passion =)

    Thanks for uploading!

  • @hicsuntalieni I agree.
