  • Lol about 2 years ago it was kinda sad of me but I was so desperate to learn this that I print screened the video and joined the parts together and it was really blurry but I'm glad there's a link to it now xD thanks for this

  • @xXxMcAngelxXx Haha, that's exactly what I did. It was worth it though, this is such a beautiful piece and is exhilarating to play.

  • This is so amazing - took me ages to find, I absolutely loved the Anime this accompanies.

If I could Read Music i'd learn to play it!

@ Cryssysocool - Was it the Links on the right or the this line from the comments 'Lilium is the opening theme song from the anime Elfen Lied' - that gave it away? ^_-

  • This song is from an anime right it sounds like it. ^__^

  • @cryssysocool yep :)

  • This music is just amazing. It's almost as if I can feel the emotion played in every note. This coming from a thirteen year old. A comment that you posted on another video interested me enough to find a video u posted in delighted to have found this.

  • Best arrangement on youtube... without a doubt... superb job!

  • Great!!!

  • I'm glad I found this video.

  • i shed tears at 30 seconds in where did these feels come from?

    i Love this song

  • genius

  • This is the first piece I'm learning as a piano player :) I'll post an video response when I'm confident I've gotten it down. Wonderful, absolutely.

  • @zsw1ft Good luck can't wait to watch it :]. Good song choice btw it may be diffucult but keep trying then its only uphill from there.

  • Enjoyed this piece so much, I'm rehearsing for my piano class recital. Loved your arrangement. It has all the challenges I need to improve as a pianist, in a song I have a strong desire to play!

  • Thank you for this amazing score! I have been practicing this score for a month now, and I can play it really good! But not as good as you, I will keep trying harder!

  • this is the hardest version for piano(but also the best) of lilium ever!

  • gostei

  • i want this song played at my funeral

  • this is perfect! just what im looking for. i was looking for a piece that came close to the real one and this one............. is the one (^.^)

  • this is perfect! just what im looking for. i was looking for a piece that came close to the real one and this one............. is the one (^.^)

  • download plz? :3

  • The link to PDF is the old version :(

    Same with the performance video.

You are amazing by the way!

  • how could anyone possibly dislike this song? ... or elfen lied?

  • It's Erfenu Riedu!

  • Very Rakhmaninov

  • Thank you for the direct link!!!!

  • @erizabesuschan Deutsch has almost no latin derivatives in it, unlike english, but the two languages are similar because they are Germanic.

  • Thank you sooo much! ive been searching for the fullest arrangement! this is wonderful, i cant wait to start working on it!!

  • whoa great arrangement, best I i've seen and heard, thanks alot! I can play this piece on guitar but it didn't satisfy me, but this.. amazing, gonna practice it on my piano and won't stop till I've got it down :D

  • :')

    My god, this is divine.

I love Elfen Lied, and the music as well.

I only wish they would of continued the anime :( (without butchering it's reputation).

  • In german "elfen" means elf and "lied" - song. So is Elf`s Song or something like this. <3i love this song <3

  • 100% agree with chammin

This is the best piano arrangement ive seen

Perhaps itll axtually pose a bit of a challenge

  • @whoslayedgoliath just tryed playing it. damn hard! and i consider myself a fairly experienced player :P

for some parts, you either need three hands or need the sustain pedal to act as the third hand, which makes it quite challenging

for example measures 13-14 around 2:34

  • B# = C natural... ⊙_⊙

  • @felixbla11 a written E# sharp is an F natural ^_^

  • Oh my god. Oh my god! Oh my God!!!! This is absolutely, without doubt, one of the best arrangements ever done! THANK YOU FOR THIS MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!

  • i really love this song... but i'm too lazy to leran it T-T

  • @felixbla11 no problem ^^

  • @felixbla11 it's an F ;D

  • while i'm listening to this i feel vectors moving arround and i wanna kill some people. I love it <3.

  • i want to play my organ keyboard but i dont know the major keys and o ther keys is there a free website for learning the keys help please i want to learn but i can teach my self sooooo disapointing thx.. BTW ur lilium version is awesome and touching in the heart

  • Thanks so much for this arrangement, I've been looking for some time now to find a not oversimplified version of Lilium!!

  • this song was able to touch 多湯丸 's heart.

  • @tayumaru If you put the japanese word to google translator it says "Multi-round hot water" hahahah :DDDDD

  • @LalaLunatic that's because japanese google translator can't translate japanese names.

  • My son's favorite piece....What, a very special piece. Thank you, for this selection.

  • Comment removed

  • wow, i gotta say i've looked through a lot of websites to find sheets like these, that just capture the essence of the actual arrangement. I almost settled for the sheets in josh's anime sheet collection but came across this beauty. you sir/ma'am were born winning.

  • @Hitsugaya6031 Haha thanks! Glad to know my work is of use to others.

  • Absolute best piano version of this song on Youtube!

  • Flawless melody, it's gorgeous. However, the B (or mid) section seemed needless and somewhat confusing to the A section; I think that section should have built on the second phrase in measures 9-11. the recapitulation of the opening theme could have also had a staccato effect followed by a change in key with 16th note sostenuto to create a sense of urgency to the dreamy melancholy. oh yeah, i think a coda would have been helpful from preventing the abrupt ending.

  • @hybridfox Thanks! Very valid feedback. As a composer, I am all for further development, however, it is necessary to note that this work is actually an arrangement of an existing work by another composer. So the goal of this arrangement (as with all of my other arrangements) was to capture as much of the original as possible and feasible. The original piece is scored for soprano, strings, and piano.

  • @zeryx28 No problem! As a fellow composer I also am for development, and would incorporate my suggestions if I were to do a personal interpretation or perhaps variations on this song. I suppose you can say the beautiful melody inspired me :-). But, I totally get what you mean about capturing the original intentions of the composer, and in that sense I think you did a marvelous job!

  • @zeryx28 do you mind if i see it in my version i 'll give you credit for it

  • @rockgodess20 I'm sorry, but I do not understand what you mean.

  • @zeryx28 im sorry what im trying to say is do you mind if i sing it in my version and i'll give you the link when im done and the credit

  • @rockgodess20 Still unclear, but here is my guess:

You would like to record yourself in a video singing Lilium with the audio in this video as a backtrack? And you would like to give me credit by mentioning my name? Is that correct?

If that's the case, thanks for choosing my arrangement. Though, the audio in this video is quite low-quality as it is produced simply using MIDI. I would prefer you use the MP3 on my website, whose URL you can find in the video description. Thanks.

  • @zeryx28 yes

  • i just love this version of lilium... searched for a midi file but didn't find one :( does anybody know if there exists one and where i can find it?

  • @AllesSch0nWeg You can find it on my website. Please see video description.

  • @zeryx28

Thank you so much!! I am learning this musicpiece now :3

  • @zeryx28 thank you so much for the sheet music! would you mind check me playing your version? im having a tough time using the pedal to connect the notes well, so im kinda messing the melody (the melody itself isnt popping out loud and clear)... if you could gimme a couple of hints to correct that, id appreciate! btw, i cant play it in one take yet, so i had to edit the video hehe thanks again!

  • Beautiful arrangement. . . I've played your "Berceuse" piano arrangement and am now learning this one. I love this arrangement! Especially the first few measures and measures 9&10. . .

  • Question if they showed Elfen Lied in a non censored version on Disney Channel or some other childrens channel in best prime time (let´s say instead of Hanna Montana or something like that) How many episodes would it run before angry overprotective parents would pester disney channel enough to shut it down?

I would say one episode AT BEST i really doubt it would get any further then the trailers.

which is a pity if you can get past the nudity and violence Elfen Lied has a great story.

  • @Erikjust

Yep, it wouldn't make it pass the trailers. . .

  • @Erikjust

Yep, it wouldn't make it past the trailers. . . people would rather be stupefied by the saturation of shows like "Hanna Montana" or any of the other pre-teen garbage that is showcased on today's television. . .

  • @Erikjust honestly i never even got why showing nudity and violence on tv is a bad thing, its not like if kids were to watch it they'd go running around naked telekineticaly ripping people to shreds

  • I can't find the sheet music on your blog.. Can anyone tell me where it is, how I can search for it?

  • @nocturnal1126 Unfortunately, I cannot post URLs in comments, but if you check my video description, you can find a whole bunch of links. The first one is a direct link. But for furture reference, to access the PDF files I have uploaded, please visit my website and click on the "work" section. The downloads are arranged in a table.

  • @zeryx28 Thank you so much. Great work! I really appreciate it~ I will be sure to check out your website in the future~

  • @nocturnal1126 you can use the print screen feature to print the sheets from this video and then paste them in paint

  • @thedeepsea94 Or better yet, down load the PDF from my website ...

  • @zeryx28 yea i hadnt checked the description box when i commented xD in fact, i did download the pdf file :P

  • @thedeepsea94 Oh that's great!

  • You did a FANTASTIC job with this! :D

  • @Wassabilover123 yes the words are latin

  • I love this song. . . especially the beginning.

  • Thank you so very much for the arrangement. I've been learning this for a while and even though I haven't been able to learn the triplets part (basically after the two lines of measures that are repeated at first) I'm glad you've made it. It's proving to be a challenge which is nice for the intermediate pianist.

    Thanks again ^^

    Cheers.

  • Pretty.... :3

  • thank you so much. This sounds very wonderful

  • graze, i love's where can i find the notes? ( maybe for trumpet ) ? ^^

  • Thank you very much! I love this song and now I'm able to play the original, difficult version of it on piano ... :-)

  • Is the english name of the anime Elfenlied to?

I really thought this was a german name o.o

  • @Bigelavar Well, there is no "English name" for the anime as the original name of the series is "Elfen lied" which happens to be German. The country of origin of the anime would be Japan and I imagine the title represented in Japan is a phonetic translation of "Elfen lied."

  • @zeryx28 I want kill someone... and i don´t know why! please help me!

  • @zeryx28

Elfen Lied is German for "Elves Song".

  • @Ninox37 He meant there was no english name for the anime...the name Elfen Lied is universal...

  • @zeryx28 Elfen Lied means "Elves Song"

  • @Bigelavar Its Latin for elf song :)

  • oh hang on thats actuall elfen lied..as for lilium it means lilly im pretty sure

  • @Bigelavar elfen llied actually translates to english as elf song

  • @Bigelavar

An English alternative name would be "Elf Song" because "Elfen Lied" is derived from "Elfenlied" which is the correct spelling in German, both meaning "Elf Song". Spelling it as two words just makes it either for non German folks to understand easier.

However English(especially American English) is crazy as it is, it doesn't really matter if you use the English or German version. We use every word from any language and mashed them into our sentences as we see fit :)

  • 1:43 at the top left

  • i don't get how to play this at all. the notes are all confusing and much different from my tenor sax notes. there's like notes from the left hand that go near the bottom of the right hand? And the left hand sounds completely different from the video cause i know it's a Csharp and Asharp, but in the video it doesnt sound the same.

  • @i6o4 Hi, your message was a bit confusing, but I will try to answer your questions. By the way, what do you mean by your "tenor sax notes"?

    >> there's like notes from the left hand that go near the bottom of the right hand?

    Yes ... and?

    >> And the left hand sounds completely different from the video cause i know it's a Csharp and Asharp, but in the video it doesnt sound the same.

The first two notes in the left hand are actually E sharp and C sharp as they are written in the bass clef.

  • @zeryx28 Okay i found it out. My tenor sax notes as in like the sheet music i can barely read for the tenor sax. I found out that Esharp = F and Bsharp = C... so yeah... thanks for the help anyway! I was confused because in Sax, you only have treble clef, and not bass clef. And when i started to try to read bass clef, i read it the exact same way as treble, giving me the wrong notes! Now i just gotta work on timing, and which fingers play which.

  • Perfect Speed <3

  • I want to download this, exactly how it sounds here; but I can't find it anywhere. I can't find one that sounds as rich as this, if you know what I mean. I don't know how else I could explain this sound other than rich and more sophisticated.

  • @no1caresanymore Thanks for the suggestion. I will upload the mp3 of my live performance to my website shortly.

  • @zeryx28 OMG!!! was you????

    great!! wonderful! congratulations!

  • absolutely beautiful.... the piano is great and not to mention this is actually a latin chant or prayer! ... thanks for the upload and great job on your performance .... heh i guess these types of anime really are one of the few to have great soundtracks and stories .... now i love elfen lied, along with gunslinger girl!!

  • @darkphantom213 Thanks. This is one of the few anime theme songs that stand out to me because it resonates so much with art music. Glad you enjoyed my work. :)

  • Hi Zeryx28,

First let me thank you for posting the music sheet ^^ Your transcription of Lilium is just AWESOME! ^^

I having some problems with the part from 0:48 to 0:57 ... I don't why... it sounds different from what I hear you playing.... did you do some kind of improv while recording the song? Or did you really play exactly what's displayed on the music sheet?

    Thanks in advance ^^

  • @sucrilhus Thanks. Glad to know my work is useful to others. Hmm that's strange, I'm pretty sure I was playing it as I had arranged it. Could you describe to me in words what it is that sounded different? Cheers.

  • @zeryx28

Oh.... I think I found the problem... I was using a software that reads PDF musicsheets and turn them into MIDI files... but it seems that it didn't read this part right.... it wasn't able to read the ties and neither those eighth mergings between the right and the left hand..... so it sounded a lot different from what I heard you playing...

I guess I'll have to go note by note myself ^^ haha... dang... it will take forever ... I'm incredibly slow reading music sheets....

  • Gorgeous! Some of the harmonies don't really sound great to me so I might tweak this a tad when I play it but I'm looking forward to learning this! Thanks for the hard work!

  • @MadHatterMCR Thanks! Yeah, feel free to add harmonies. Looking forward to your performance (should you wish to record and upload it)!

  • Beautiful, I love this arrangement.

  • Well done :)

I think transcribing and notating does reflect on one's character - in this case, polished and well presented. If I may ask, what music program were you using?

    Cheers.

  • @AaronLChew Thanks. I arranged and notated this in Encore, back when I didn't know about Sibelius. :)

  • @zeryx28

lol, so you are using Sibelius 6 now?

  • @AaronLChew Yep. Sorry for the late response.

  • A round of applause for you!!!

Even I learn piano for almost 10 yrs, but still, I'm not good. And your website is really nice, how I wish I could donate, but I'm still a high sch student. I'll definitely donate after I can earn my own income, so don't go away...XD

And you are so talented, and handsome>.<, makes me feel 'whoa I must keep track on your updates' haha...XD

Keep it up, all the best to you 加油哦~

  • @jaylala00 Wow. Thanks so much for the thoughtful comment. Don't worry about not being able to donate. My goal of my work here on YouTube isn't to make money, but rather to spread the joy of learning music that is otherwise not available. Cheers.

  • omg omg omg

Can i use this as an instrumental for a thing at school? Pweeze? i really love it

  • @ex2cliff Did you mean to ask if you could play this on the piano at a school function? If yes, by all means, please feel free to do so. Thanks for spreading the word of this wonderful art song. :)

  • Good ear. Nice clean notation and thoughtful arrangement.

  • @001Asoer Thanks! I see music notation as an art form possibly separate from music itself. I hope to convey its beauty through my work on YouTube.

  • could you please send me a jpeg of the sheet music?

  • @123123123cowmoo I have it in PDF format. Its download link is in the video description. I do not have it in jpeg format, however.

  • @zeryx28 ok, thanks so much

  • Obrigadaaa!!! =D

    s2

  • okok! thank you! ^^

  • dont you have an easier one for a 12 year old?? D:

  • @Ayako1997 To answer your question, no, I have not arranged for piano an alternative version of Lilium of lesser difficulty (if that is in fact what you were asking about). How long have you been playing piano? In my experience with meeting other pianists, I find that age and playing maturity can be mutually exclusive. :)

  • @zeryx28 ok, I'm 12 and i've been playing for about 4/5 years...´and yes, I aked if you had a sheet with that music but not so difficult... thanks

  • @Ayako1997 If your looking for sheets with an easier version of this song, then just go to a different video, there's plenty on youtube, which are less difficult.

  • @Kazi900o i know, but they're all too difficult, :P sorry if i'm bothering YOU

  • @Ayako1997 Oh I see. Yes, this arrangement may be too difficult for someone with 4 or 5 years of experience. I would suggest searching for "Lilium piano pdf" on Google. Hope you find an arrangement that is suitable for you. :)

  • @zeryx28 What you talkin about willis I've been playing for a year and a half and I'm getting it down. No piano song is that hard to learn if you practice it.

  • @zeryx28 What you talkin about willis I've been playing for a year and a half and I'm getting it down. No piano song is that hard to learn if you practice it. Also thx for the sheet music :3

  • This is the best arrangement of Lilium ever!!! >_<

  • It makes me wish I had the patience and dedication it takes to learn to play piano...since I have neither, I'll just enjoy when others play and praise them for a job well done. Which brings me to my next point...great job!

  • Comment removed

  • just listening to this makes me tear. aghh you made me want to watch the entire anime again. thanks ALOT :(

  • @kittyluver3110 LOL! Man, I've only ever seen comments like this appear on popular videos. Thanks for writing in. :)

  • From the first time I heard this song i was captured by it and I thank you for doing that again

    Epic Beauty

  • Best version ever ever ever ! OMFG EPIC <3 !

  • wow i learned alot from the old but the new is a\better one i see.

  • This is really great and close to the original! If only the sheet music was a little less complicated! :p

  • @crazydandan thats what i thought at first too!....just practice it and yu can get it..even now that i know the song by memory, it/s still preety complicated to play

  • @crazydandan oh sorry i meant even know that i know this composition by memory

  • @PSNDemonwing Haha, no worries. People refer to pieces of music as songs all the time (but not vice versa, strangely). :P I'm not too picky on the terminology. But yes, you are right, I agree that it was tricky for me to learn too, even though I arranged the thing. I did try my best to make the arrangement as idiomatic as possible, which is always challenging, but fun.

  • @zeryx28 very true....i believe your composition raised my piano skills quite a bit... thanks a bunch... hope you continue to make awesome compositions of rare songs so that i can learn them:]

  • @PSNDemonwing Wow, I am pleasantly surprised to hear that! Happy playing.

  • @zeryx28 where did u get the music sheets for this song

  • @tsuki9898 The score you see represented in this video is an original arrangement composed by myself. You can find the score on my website under the 'work" section. Please see the video description for the link. Enjoy.

  • hardest part for me is bar 18 onward ^^;

  • i want this sheet music for the Bb clarinet D:

  • Wow<3

    Just beautiful...

    I love this song=)

Can you send me the music sheets?

    Sorry for my bad english>_<

  • @MisaMisa8D Thanks. The direct link can be found in the video description. Enjoy!

  • @zeryx28 Oh=) Thank you sooo much^-^

  • This is a beautiful composition. I'm not a big fan of anime, but I sure do have a great love for music. Love it! <3

  • How many octaves does this cover? I'm sadly having to use my old 5 1/2 octave keyboard to play and practice on as my piano's in surgery. i hope i won't have to condense the song too much.

  • @Doriguin I think it spans just about 5.5 octaves from a C# to a F#.

  • my goal in life right here.

  • thanks a lot:]

  • hello i want to know if i could use this song to perform it in my piano class' next recital?....i love this song and i already have half of the song down.....oh and by the way don't make a tutorial!!! cuz i believe reading music is better:]....thats the way im learning this song by the way:]

  • @PSNDemonwing Please do. I hope your recital goes well.

Coming from a classical music background, I agree that music notation is the better way to learn music. Piano tutorials instruct a pianist how to depress keys, but sheet music gives music so much more meaning in its phrasing and articulation and voice delineation. It helps you breathe life into a musical composition that has been laid out on paper.

  • Hello :] Ich want to ask If I could use this arrangement because I want to cover lilium ^^ It would be great!

  • @LinaZel I'm sorry, what do you mean when you say "cover" and how do you intend to use the arrangement?

  • @zeryx28 I want to make a Fandub from lilium, do you understand what I mean?

  • @LinaZel I'm sorry, I still don't understand, but I think I sort of have an idea. Correct me if I am wrong, but do you mean you want to record a video of yourself singing Lilium using the audio from this video as a back track? If that is the case, I can send you a better quality version of the audio that uses samples, as this was an old slide show I had compiled using just a MIDI file. Let me know if that interests you.

  • @zeryx28 Yes, you´re right ! That was what I meant. It would be great If you could send me a better quality version and sorry for my bad english!

  • @LinaZel No problem. I plan to work on it on the weekend, if you can wait that long. :P

  • @zeryx28 Of yourse, thanks :)

  • @LinaZel Okay, it's done. Please PM me your e-mail and I can send it to you.

  • awesome! why dont u make a tutorial? would be great!

  • @cinwb Thanks. I actually advise against learning using piano tutorials as they do not help in the long run. On the other hand, by learning to read music notation, you can get much more out of the experience. Music notation isn't simply a list of instructions on which keys to depress at the keyboard. It also contains phrase marks, and musical directives that communicate with the pianist to help him express emotion while playing. I hope that was insightful in some way. Thanks for your comment. :)

  • I believe this is THE BEST composition of "Lilium"........it has every part so well. :)......i have seen videos of people playing a composition that they made but their compositions lacked many parts......this composition didnt lack anything:).... i cant wait to learn this song and play it in my school's recital:)

  • Thank you mate. THe BEST sheet music found. really you do an amazing job :)

  • Hello, I am a very young (14) composer, writing since twelve, and I love your music, especially your "Nokia Fugue". I was wondering if you have any advice for any of my music I've written. If you help me out, I will put you in my scores as "co-writer".

    Thanks,

    ♪♭♩♫MusiKFreaK♬♩♯♪

PS., the songs I've written are onn the side of my site, sorry about the repeated videos its just highest rated videos, then uploading order ☺.

  • @AnAmericanComposer yah i need help too

  • @coryn1250 I'd be happy to answer any questions you have on music composition and theory. Let me know by PM. :D Cheers.

  • what software did you use? The score looks great and the crescendos play back really well

Great arrangement by the way :D
