They dig in trash cans, sneak into houses, open doors (they can, they have different hand structure than most animals), and eat stuff. He probably was wise not to give it to them. Who knows what dairy can do to them at their age? Raccoons are almost ALL over the world...I'm sure they're fine. No need to overreact.

All the vets in my area who treat coons agree that although they can get rabies just like dogs and cats, most don't have it. I've had experience with about 50 different coons, and not a single one had/has rabies. There may be some local areas of higher concentrations of the infection.
