  • I would be really annoyed with this guy if he was not wearing chainmail.

  • This guys pretty random lol!!!

  • You can get wrist weights... the are heavy, but easier to wear than the admittedly awesome chains.. P.S you fucking rock

  • @Sociocidal Ya, I wasn't sure if the chains would work because at first theymade my wrists sore. After about a month, though, I got used to it. Now my hands and wrists are just really strong. ...like damage resistant.

  • where does this guy live..? i mean live in?

  • did you know they have found skeletons from the middle ages of warriors that wore chain mail regular and they all had arthritis when they were 30, i think this is just going to destroy your knees

  • @Tskimmo hes already like 37

  • @Tskimmo How can there be fat people who don't have it then?

  • where do you live that your gym is like a library? That's so weird to me. But good work on the chainmail. Fun stuff.

  • Your place looks cool

  • I think mail is more comfortable it gives me a sense of security .

  • you are my kinda guy. funny as hell but very correct in many many ways

  • POWER BOOST!

  • Do you feel like you still have in on after you take it off, even though you feel lighter? I know i do. i wear mine under my shirt sometimes in the summer to keep me nice and cool.

  • its perfect :-D I saw video how make it, but bloody hell, i am not any tailor! :-D How long make of this take time?

  • @porizkovabasta It depends on how large the rings are. Really small might take 200+ hours. The size he has should take around 120 hours.

  • @TheScandinavianOne ok thanks

  • I can't wait until I move out to where I can't see 20 people outside my window, and be like you

  • Jaimie, although most of us don't do as you do (but really wish we could), we DO relate to you.

For instance; I really thought I was the only person in the world that says "ARGH" when things don't go right.... well, now I know different. :-)

You're a great roll model for all of us! (that's one reason we watch your videos additively.)

(BTW... I know this video is over a year old, but some of us get a sense of 'connection' by commenting to out of date, rhetorical stuff.... )

  • I'm guilty for being really lazy and not really working but I get what yer sayin because on the rare occasions that I do work out or even move stuff I do feel better, like healthier and less kind of dead I guess.

  • dear good sir, i admire all of these video's... i too enjoy being uncomfortable, though in the past year i've been more comfortable, but as of late... no more! i find myself falling back into physical discomfort and it's good seeing other uncomfortable people as to know i'm not alone in my discomfort. good job chap! you're now my first youtube comment!

  • Seriously inspirational video, glad I found it! Next time I feel down about not being able to do enough to get in shape I'll have to load it up and be all RARRRAAAAAR!

  • You have that awsome goku attitude, just take some martial art classes and you'll be defeating majin buu.

  • You're crazy man, but I like you. I practice Parkour, so I understand what you're talking about compleatly. Does that make me crazy too? Lol

  • Dude I like your theory of comfort, its so true. I used to do carpentry and masonry work when younger. Lots of lifting, hammering, etc. I felt so good. Then I stopped working physically and started feeling so bad and uncomfortable I almost went nuts. I had to start doing sports.

  • @Bistol1 I completely agree. :)

I work with game designing and a lot of the time there isn't a lot of time for exercising, but I have started to make frequent walks which is nice.

  • Dude a few years ago I would work to work with weigh round my ankles. I walked akwardly the first 2 or 3 days, then I got used to it. Gotta tell you, I was unbeatable at squash, my legs were so strong I just didn´t get tired... :-))

  • This guys cool n stuff.

  • you are very compulsive, just like me.

  • it is house or HELL

  • this is inspiring

  • what a nutcase!

  • how does one acquire a dome that large? and more importantly, does it have running water?

  • "hanging upside down" : yeah I have alotof agression.... lol u crack me up! i like the weight idea

  • Watching you, so full of energy and enthusiasm and different and comfortable with that and wow, that's just kinda inspiring to me, Thanks for uploading!

  • Dude... ever since I watched 'Dragonball Z' as a kid... I always wanted to wear a weighted vest and cuffs around all the time... plus I dig your style... I'm subscribing.

  • @ButtPoopWiggle Ha ha. Ya, Goku had some awesome training. I still don't have a 200lbs turtle shell. :-P

  • @JMEMantzel Do you sleep with it on?

  • Awesome idea :D Where did you get your shirt by the way? Or did you make it??

  • @Johtas1 I made my chainmail shirt. There's a video somewhere in here about how I made it.

  • @JMEMantzel Checked your vid and was a good guide, but I turned tail and retreated to ebay. My mail should arrive tomorrow hehe, look forward to trying some of my normal exercise with it on. Cheers for the idea! :D

  • @JMEMantzel Thats great! The weight vest I have now I can't go any where with it because its too big. Tip you probably already know this since you already have the vest, but its bad to wear weights on your ankle.

  • So true about embracing not being comfortable. It's more mental than anything, mind over matter, if you don't mind than it doesn't matter.

  • Dude, do you live in a biodome?

  • Dude, I live in a dome.

  • ...and I made it

  • @JMEMantzel

That's pretty awesome. How do I go about living in a dome?

  • There's lots of ways. I can tell you how I did it.

I saved some money... and kept my eye out for cheap land. Bought some land, moved there with a car full of my life and a tent. ....built dome with whatever materials I could find cheap or free.

    POOF! Living in a dome.

  • @JMEMantzel

Interesting. I was looking at some of these Geodesic dome houses, I like the concept.

  • Ya, its a great use of materials. ....much more efficient than post and beam.

  • Any problems with leakage during heavy rains?

  • @IggyZadr Err.... ya. My chainmail leaks during heavy rains, lights rains, anything.

I feel like i missed the question. ha ha. Did you mean the dome? That doesn't leak.

  • @JMEMantzel

Yes I did indeed mean the dome.

  • @JMEMantzel : very strange space you live in, in more ways than one. keep it up!

  • Thanks! I'll do m best. :-)

  • HA HA onehundreth person to rate, Fuck Yes lololollol

  • fair do's mon !

  • I totally agree with you about the whole... (what I like to call), 'hardship conditioning'... was brought up on a farm and could work harder than most men at 13.... and I've never been to a 'Lycra Lovelys Preening Parlour' or as they call it 'The Gym' !

    I just need a mountain 8P

  • whoa now i know why you wacthed dbz i did that during school i wores a weighted vest with a backpack and ankle weights :)

  • I like to move logs with elephants.

  • i completely agree with your point about comfort

  • I wouldn't think abut every body that they r wierd they just afraid to look different, and that's stupid.

  • Ya, thats pretty silly. People go their entire lives trying to look right. :-P

  • your mail is built wrong

  • Well, its a multipurpose kinda thing. :-)

  • Having been sitting here watching things on you tube for about 2 hours, you've made me feel motivated!

I think I'll go and put on my maille and go for a run! :D

    ...Well... Fast walk anyway.

  • That's an awesome video, sir. It's great to meet someone with the courage and independence to have his own philosophy and live it, and see it through. You're an inspiration.

  • Thanks! I do my best. :-)

  • You're very eccentric. I like it.

  • you're quit fit mate.

  • wheres the cheapest place to buy chainmail in the uk or website

  • make it

  • @MetalTala chainmaille is not cheap. The cheapest thing to do is to make it. If you want to buy quality chainmaille that will last you a long time for training purposes (daily use) its gonna run you about 500+ (US) compared to if you make it which only costs about 50-80 for all the materials.

  • @MaeEvelynn im making my own just now, i finished making one but i used a different pattern, the first one weighs 15 lbs

  • Its more fun to make your own too!

  • i have two shirts weighing 25lbs and 30 lbs both made from galvanized steel both cost me a total of 60 dollars US to build. my advice is purchase the rings from someone pre-cut like from a website called TheRingLord. you can get stainless steel their for relitilvely cheap prices for a half the work done for you.

  • #1 Your mail is built wrong. :-P

#2 I don't want half the work done for me.

    #3 The end

  • you are a weird guy but really good points you got :) and like the idea of the chainmail and "cuffs" thingies

  • I wear chainmail doing yardwork, moving rocks, running, and whenever I can hide it (my work in healthcare not too conducive to showing it) I totally agree on all the advantages and ridiculousness of social conformity, but the world I live in requires a few compromises.

  • Nice. Ya, i can wear mine just about anywherre without anyone noticing. It must be a pain having a job where is matters

  • i love this guy

  • heehee. you love me

  • i just had the same idea, you should use my maile. it weighs about 25 lbs. shit, why not wear the whole outfit with the viking sword, about 45 lbs

  • errr.... mine is already 30lbs.... and its nowhere near done. :-)

  • that's a tight weave, i'd never have time to do that. or have the will to wear the weight all day.

  • Ya. my rings are about as small as I can make em with it still being mildly flexible

  • So there you are, in your dome, wearing chainmail, taking about building robots, and hanging off a rope.

So, when does the crimefighting start? Oh, when the robot is finished, I guess...

  • I guess it starts when I find myself in the middle of a heist... and they're trying to take me hostage, and i have to get crazy. :-P

  • it's a cool lifestyle man and I would do what you do, except that I would go crazy without a girl around. Do you have a wife/girlfriend, if not how do you not go crazy?

  • uhh..... attracting girls when in this lifestyle isn't a problem. ....but ....girls drive me crazy WAY more than being alone! Just ask Dhashaina!

  • i think women do make you go crazy. or at least lack of variety of such. either multiple women or none. also i think this dude lives in a biodome

  • depends entirely from person to person. Some people go crazy over getting peanut butter stuck to the roof of their mouthes... its called Arachibutyrophobia. Your problem, tho probably more common, is hardly a good topic for generalization.

  • ya, girls are nuts.

  • LMAO.. No pun intended right..

  • So how many times has that chain mail saved your life during robot construction? Inspirational stuff, Jaimie. Words to live by. (No, I'm not gonna start wearing chain mail)

  • Hey! Wear your chainmail! ...or no dinner for you!

  • True all that, although i dont believe in striving to be different either but i dont think thats what u were tryin to say :P awesome work on the robot btw, i watched it all in one night ^^ keep up the good work!

  • Ya. I don't give a crap about being different. I wish more people were like me. I'm not going to be like them just to conform, though.

Holey cow all in one night? ha ha. thats a lot of robot!

  • I think a lot of people WANTS to be like u, but doesnt have the guts.

Hell yeah it was a lot of robot, and it was awesome ;) keep up the good work.

  • thanks! Ya... before I started living this way, I was chicken too. :-P

  • Crazy, Smart, Strong, and Hilarious.

The list of what I love about this guy grows with every video of his I watch XD

I'm about to add Philosophical to the list.

Keep up the good work dude :)

  • thanks! I guess I better not say anything too offensive. :-P Some of my philosophies aren't exactly taken well by most people. :-P

  • Well, I don't think its so much that people don't like your philosophies, cause like, I think most people do. But most of us are the total opposite of your philosophies. So I guess some people would take offence on that basis. I'm a computer programmer and so I'm kinda not horribly strong or anything. But my brain is strong! And I think that is what is the most important to me. But I still think your philosophies are great, and it would be cool if there were more people that think like you

  • Hey Jamie, big fan of your videos. I'm curious as to what you eat, what normally do u have for freakfast lunch and dinner? and about how many calories per day do you need in order to live like you do? =)

  • Jaimie likes to eat Cereal ALOT!! Carrots, Popcorn, Spagetti, pepperonis, potatoes & eggs. Those would be the most oftenly eaten things. Calories hmmm, Well, we dont sit around counting them, in fact we don't usually eat things and then look at the calories.

  • ha ha. Dashaina answered. I probably eat around 5000 calories. up to 10,000 when i really get going, and down to 1500 when I'm in shutdown mode. :-P So.... err... ya.

  • That sounds delicious and wholesome

  • There's another Aspergian characteristic.....

....being very attractive to bullies. Got Asperger's

  • You've got Ass Burgers!! hahahhaha. He said Ass Burgers. That was funny.

  • but but... bullies don't like me anymore.

  • Dude. You are champion. You remind me alot of my friend Dan Awesome. Seriously, that's his name. He legally changed his last name to Awesome. I couldn't make this stuff up. Well I could, but what would be the point? Anyhow, he's a cool dude that comes up with, and follows through with neat ideas and things like you do.... Didn't need to tell you this, but whatever, I did. Rock on, man.

  • aw, sweet! Thats really cool. heh heh. Thats way better than what most people change their names too. Like... boring regular names.

  • You should whrite a book :)

  • I've written a couple books.

...even tried to get one published. ha ha. It was too..... "unusual" for most "markets", so I published it myself in limited edition.

  • ok :/ maby start a sect or religion then :P just kidding, but you have some very good ideas which i like and helps me in diferent ways :)

  • What were the books about?

  • I put a couple of my books on here. One is about the size of the Universe, there's a parenting book... they're on my website too.

  • jw how do you get internet in the middle of no where

  • Hmm.... Lets see.... middle of nowhere. Well, if you're in the middle of nowhere on earth.... you can probably get a satellite connection without much trouble.

I personally usually just walk to the nearest middle of free wireless internet zone.

  • fuck the gym real men work out were ever !!! go fuck yourselves and you dramatic social events you call the gym... water weigth fake muscle having fags......

  • Theres no inherent gain from lifting a weight at a gym.. But if you lift a log up a mountain, then thee is!

  • I'm inspired. I'm gonna look into buying chainmail.

  • ohh... you could make it! its not that hard to make. :-)

  • You're blowing my mind, homie. You know what? I think I will. I don't know the first thing about how to make it or what to use, though.

  • Just go back a few videos, he has one where he shows exactly how to make the chainmail. Its pretty sweet.

  • You are weird O.o

how do you get food that all i wonder? it sound cool being you in every day life

  • I get food from the grocery store and my garden. ...oh and I occassionally eat stuff growing in the forest. :-P

  • Why not just eat a bunch of junk food and then you wont have to wear stuff to weigh more!

-the gym is what you make of it, saying its a social event might be what other people do not what you have to do.

  • well... most of the gyms I've been to have rules that restrict exercise. Soo... anyway... I don't want to argue. The gym just isn't for me

  • WOW. A 'Homo Sapien Individualis'. What a rare sighting! I thought your species had been driven to extinction by the more prolific 'Cant-Think-For-Myselfasarus'. :-D

Seriously, you're a breath of fresh air! You have my applause and admiration.

    Much love to you -

    ♥unASLEEP

  • Thanks! Ya... I sometimes have difficulty when sending out mating calls. It seems there are few of us left. :-P

  • Actually, my links are so tight that they barely make any noise.

  • Makes sence

  • I make it a point to stand rather than sit if I have the choice, so that when I do sit or lay down, it feels awesome. Plus; it doubles the metabolism, so it's really healthy.

  • I once didn't sit for a year. :-P I'd lay down to sleep, the pop up and that was it for the day... until i layed down again. My friends thought it was weird when we watched a movie and I'd stand the whole time. :-P

The first time I sat down after that, I got a really bad tummy ache.

  • I love working out, especially doing deadlifts and lifting heavy things like trailers at work. makes you feel kinda powerful hehe..

  • heh heh. ya.

  • Jamie! You are my super hero :D

  • ha ha. wait... don't I get a sidekick, then!?

...one who does all the boring stuff! ha ha

  • i wish could become like him when i grow up!

if only the world was full of ppl like jamieus........:(

    (sigh)

  • He is a nice guy, but the world would get destroyed if everyone was like him =P!!!

  • actually... I know you're just kmaking a joke and everything ,but... seriously... i'm very low impact. :-) it would take about 100 of me to equal the environmental damage one regular north american makes.

  • Uno! didn't think you would end up seeing the message xD! Incase you don't remember me im a fan :P

  • heh heh.

  • ya... I think it would be sweet if more people exercised. :-) Exercise girls are cute.

  • Maybe you should get some chain stuff for your toes. Ya know, because you always seem to be impailing them on your shop floor!

  • hey... ALWAYS is a total exaggeration. :-P

  • Also if people think you're crazy, they won't pick fights with you. So that may be why other than you're in great shape.

But probably because you're in great shape.

    Kids are cruel anyway, blargh.

  • Ya... SOME kids are cruel. Some are really cool

  • Do more videos upside down!

  • hmmm... you like red faced upsidedown Jaimie???? Well.... I'll see what I can doo. Who knows, maybe the robot will go terribly wrong, and it'll drag me away with my hanging by a foot.

  • Just make sure you get loose before it tears through a couple buildings when its dragging you behind.

  • heh heh. ya. I don't want to be dead robot decoration!!

  • I relay think that you put them for protection to dont cut yourself or something that.

  • Let me get a tshirt!

    Conformist.

    Barack Obama Loves you.

  • whu..... huh????

  • Some great wisdom from you there.

I almost got inspired to get out and lift heavy things.

    Respect! Keep it up!

  • sweet! thanks! :-)

  • great video!

  • Holy Jaimie, you're HUGE!

I suppose your outlook on life really does work :P

  • ha ha. I woulnd't say HUGE... I've been about 30lbs heavier before. Man.... that took too much food, though. ....but I sure could lift a lot!

  • no pain no glory yea..

I would love to live in the woods like you do...but in my line of work i cant do that. Or i have to give up everything hmmm..

  • Did you just create a personal limitation where you have to give something up to get something? Thats just silly

  • Silly is in the eye of the beholder! ;-)

From the perspective of someone living off the grid, like you, most people are silly. And in a way that is true. People are silly, thats why we ruin our planet and eventually turn in it one big desert. OMG nooooooooooooooooooooohh lol

  • uhh... from the perspective of a guy living off the grid? I grew up in the burbs, went to school in the city, and have lived in many places.... and from every perspective, I thought most people are silly.

  • Jaimie - the Robot Guru!

that's some good advice allright, I can relate to it all coz I've experienced a lot of those things; but in the end I'm just too lazy to keep up with all that :<

  • Aww.... come on. Your name is braveheart! Oh... wait... upon closer inspection.... err.. nevermind.

    hee hee

  • hahah oh come on, a "K" is just two "V"s attached together! D:

(stoopid tube won't let ya change username either u.u)

  • heh heh. ohh.... did you want baveheart? :-P Ya.... K is better its like 2 V's! Thats twice as much!

  • 3:50 "and do a lot of suicides and stuff like that" LOL

  • suicides..... that running exercise where you go back and forth a lot.

  • it'd be funny trying to go through an airport terminal, and you have to take off all your chainmail, and the security guard will be all "wtf are you a knight" and you will be all

"yes i am your great great great grandfather and i have traveled forward in time to tell you to do pushups".

I like to wear steel capped shoes and whenever i goto the airport it always reminds me that most people don't (wear steelcaps).

  • ohoh, maybe you could just tell the security guard them you had an accident and had all your ribs replaced with titanium ribs.
