Mann provided quality camera work, especially during the action sequences with the revolving cameras but there weren't enough action sequences. The pace of the movie was suspended by transporting drugs on go-fast boats as opposed to pursuing more criminals in that underworld during the film. I was unsatisfied with how the movie ended because Hesus(think that's right) didn't even get caught unless Mann plans to produce a sequel. Overall, I prefer the tv series but the movie wasn't bad.

Pacing of a movie is the key for me personally; even though The Lord of the Rings trilogy are very good movies and extremely well made, the pacing is too slow for me, I have only ever watched each of those movies the whole way through once ever, and that was at the cinema. Some of the scenes are just a little bit hard to get through.

yea the LOTR films are great, but the replay value is very low to me too. Being around three hours long, plus like you said with the numerous slow parts, in the end does not help the film. I wanted vice to be so good, loving heat and collateral, but walked out feeling like they wasted a great opportunity.

If you think this is a great movie you are a stupid idiot. This movie lacked depth, story, and acting. Michael Mann fails at making you give a damn about the characters, and making you feel a sense of camaraderie and friendship from the characters. Michael Bay out did him at his own game with Bad Boys, which in it self was probably influence by Miami Vice.

i'm a broke ass dude. i accept that. i probably will never see miami or los angeles or south america. i love michael mann films. he always uses the cities and the surroundings just like the cities themselves are stars of the film. the miami night skyline, driving a jetboat to havana for mojito's, the airplane scenes. his films give me a glimpse of these places, just a great style he has. this movie was awesome by the way.
