Also, slums along the railway tracks in Mumbai have been a gr8 menace. For politicians though, they are a gr8 source of votes. So they are given a strange refuge and all the infrastructure projects are slowed down or stalled due to encroachments along the tracks. Anti social elements thrive in these slums. If I tell some one in US, that it takes more than 10 years to lay 2 sets of electrified tracks on an 18 km stretch with even terrain, it would be a topic of ridicule. But it is the truth here.
@dehaaspaul Sorry. Did not realize that u are a foreigner to India and you had just done a random shoot. Good to know that. I hope people who watch the video understand that. For the westerners, India might be like a 3rd world country, but it all depends on how you arrange your travel. I stayed in US for 5 years and I know the kind of infrastructure it has. I am glad to say that US infrastructure is one of the best. Yet I love to travel by rather cleaner Indian trains for their rustic charm.
