  • Or you could buy a compass?

  • What happened to dual survival?

  • Comment removed

  • Dave, I just ordered the water proof book with companion dvd's total price wasn't too bad but living on a budget it was alot to consider. I am a proud follower of your videos and I feel I can trust and support you as a teacher. I am hoping this book will be a good source for my son and I to learn from as we to our "bonding" in the woods together this summer.

  • very good video. like it. you are great dave

  • I have this book and it's the best book about survival iv'e found so far !!!! Just like he said, only the information you need to know, without all the crap !!

  • cool

  • Well, I'm trying to get this book for quite a while now, but the german amazon just sucks...

  • that bundle bow sucks ass. now worth the time and effort for such a weak improperly tillered bow, you arent ganna kill shit with that. if you expect to be able to make a quality bow or quality "survival" bow out of just a knife. you had better be a damn good amateur bowmaker already. its hard enough to do in your garage with all of the proper tools. yet ppl expect to be able to just go and make one with just a knife.

  • For some reason I never made the connection that it was you on Dual Survival. You look huge on tv compared to here. Thats one of my favorite shows... You da man...

  • How long would that needle be good for? Awesome trick.

  • the music is fucking annoying... >:O

  • i have been thinking about the minimal kit pack. must have and maybes. After looking towards the anthropological side of things and observing the material culture of indigenous peoples they seem to incorporate a lot of what they need to survive in the beautification of themselves so much of what they carry or "adorn" is useful one way or other for example woven bracelets head wraps feathers ect. Look to be beauty items are not that at all but a truly minimal kit.

    been enjoying the posts cheers

  • great video

guys check out my channal, just started theres a few knife reviews bit of k9 training r700 bb gun review , ive just started here on youtube please leave some tips

  • Without reading all the comments to see if someone made a comment in regards to stainless steel. stainless steel can't hold a magnetic charge. Stainless steel won't rust but who knows, mabye the one you had did have some iron in it. Just a thought.

  • Thank you Dave really important information your passing on really considering your book, from what you have shown so far, yeah the book is worth every penny. Thanks again.

  • 20% eh. You're being very generous.

  • dude wasa that a condom at 1:56 ?

  • If someone is actually going to rely on this in a survival situation please be careful using a stainless steel needle. Only some grades of stainless steel are able to be magnetized. Many are not.

Thank you Dave for taking time to make these videos and pass your survival knowledge onto the next generation.

    Karma

  • hey Dave grate videos and your show on Discovery is awesome but yeah i was wondering if you've ever thought of adding super glue to your gear for deep cuts and or scrapes it doesn't weigh anything and you could seal up wounds just a thought

  • again, just awesome... <3 ur vidz

  • I wanna see a dual survival in an abandoned city URBAN SURVIVAL!!! o.O

  • @Tux3d0 Haha that would be sick! But the episode would be over in ten minutes.. Loot the local Walmart (or any abandoned house,) to acquire bleach; disinfect water they found scattered throughout the town, eat trail mix or canned foods they found in the same store or house; or human corpse. Begin their own survival clan because FEMA will not come to save any survivors in the abandoned area. Roll credits haha. [Clearly this all was a really dumb joke; but on a serious note I LOVE D.S., and Cody..

  • @Tux3d0 and Dave. They both have such excellent knowledge and advice. Hands down best show and best duo on television. These guys seriously rock; not to mention each of their respective schools and YouTube channels are knowledge littered as well haha! You're guaranteed to find quality stuff from either one of them.

  • @Tux3d0 Nice that would be cool, kind of like the colony, how and what Dave and Cody would do or find to survive in a city or urban environment if everything went to hell besides the wilderness, nice one.

  • Dave needs his own show. Look at all the stuff he's capable of, and he was in the army! Thanks for tips Dave, keep doing what you do - you're an inspiration.

  • i'd imagine the smaller the battery the more times you'd want to repeat the process....AA batteries be the minimum to give + & - poloris factors in cases you were able to preform this technique....i'd like to see it with AA batteries if possible ( maybe you have but the battery used in the demo isnt found in alot of common applications...great demo averall.. THANKS

  • If I came across this guy in the woods I would run away.

  • My BOOK and it companion DVD is stated within the first 15 seconds...blah, blah, blah is right. You're partially real, Dave!

  • hi i wonder if you have ever used a pump drill. Dont know what you call them it two bits of wood one is the upright the other is a cross member that has 3 holes in it one each end and one in the middle . It also has a weight made from bit of wood thats round set bit up from bottom. It was used for fire lighting and for drilling holes in things. as it can be used one handed and can twirls a hand drill (firelighting one) faster and with less stress on palm of hands i wonder if you could make vid

  • BE CAREFUL... not all Stainless steel is magnetic

  • good info

  • i would really like to know where i can find his book cause i love this stuff

  • Hi guys, what's the music playing at the beginning ? Thanx every1 !

  • haha I have been itching to get another great survival book and I just love how you position these photos too! You are one of my top 3 most favorite survival instructors. I will totally be on the lookout for your new book keep up the good work this is just great stuff!

  • Dave, what do you have in the black bison @1:56? firestarter?... and where did you get that MOAB (mother of all bisons) LOL :)

  • Hey, I accidently flagged your video. My apologies! :)

  • Where may I get this at?

  • 80/20 rule.. Big thumbs up!! Keep up the good work mate.

  • Very cool! This is the first video of yours I've watched, but I'm already hooked. This stuff is right down my alley, my fellow outdoorsman.

  • Just ordered this book, in the waterproof version, and a haversack, from you Dave. Once I study the book I am sure I will be ordering more gear.

  • What is the fixation with knives so many have. Must be some primitive gene like the one that draws humans and moths to fire.

If I was a cannibal I'd dig a pit, cover it over with branches and leaves and hang a "bush knife" over the pit as bait.

  • 90/10 Children 6 and under.

    80/20 Adults.

    97/3 Teens.

    99/1 Politicians.

  • You could let that needle get hotter if this doesn't work the first time. The thermal reaction will become strongest around 800 degrees. Obviously the needle would then be too hot to touch at that point, but once it cools the magnetic charge will be much greater. At 800 degrees he needle will loose its magnetic properties, but the flow of electrons will align into a monopole until the needle cools. This means the metal will be further magnetized. -Birar Rabbit.

  • this guy reminds me ALOT about the guy from dual survival who has to hang out with the hippie

  • @Vlaxerman343 This IS the guy from dual survival

  • @johnmonk66 wow really?

  • @Vlaxerman343 it IS that guy.

  • just saw master of survival few minutes ago i thought it would be an episode when they drop off the masters in one survival situation or something

  • You ever read Path finder publications, written by Don Paul. he did a series of books on survival and living in hard times. I read his book's back in the 1980's and learned real life lessons on living in the city, country, and wilderness. hope you can carry on the tradition of being self reliant outside. good luck.

  • amazing stuff ! how many months / years does the needle hold that charge?

  • hey dave what kind of knife is that on your edc key chain? there is a picture of it in the video at 1 minute and 55 seconds in to the vid. dose any one know what knife that is?? it is the perfect size. ????

  • @masterthomas919 I think it is the Harpoon or something like that...there is an old vid of Dave's with it..I made something similar in Stainless but it was never as cool as this keychain blade..

  • dave i am 13 and spend all my time in the woods. And practiced every thing i have lernd from you. from food to shelters plz suscribe.

  • How come I can't find any vids or books on amazon for Dave? His name just shows up with his pardner from Arizona. :(

  • hey guys been watching your vids up here for a while and been using the skills learnt on a regular basis . and thinking of investing in the book and DVD combo and /or the Pathfinder Course Phase I but are the DVDs in a pal format? as I live in the UK.

thank you for your videos and lessons you have taught me!!

    keep up the good work.

  • @wildernessoutfitters thank you very much please tell me dave is doing another season of dual

  • @MADLOVEPRODUCTIONS We are filming season 2 now buddy.

  • @wildernessoutfitters Looking forward to season 3!

  • I've been doing Bushcraft since before Lofty Wisemans huge book came out in the 80's..that was a step forward for me..but the most difference that has been made to my system, skills, confidence in nigh on 30 years is you...sifting through the rewrites of age old Air Force Training manuals that dare to be called survival books and limp TV presenters playing in the trees with hollow handled, sawback junk...for all the considerable time and effort you've put into this book..thanks Brother!!

  • @bassfuryvi That statement means more to me than you know I am humbled brother. Thank you.

  • @bassfuryvi theres a reason Dave is on TV....he's 1 of the best & started by us watching him & inspired me & the likes & glad to know him as a person & not a celebrity.....(dave will do wut he's always done dispite his public or celeb status) Dave is a GLORIFIED "GET "R" DONE" dude & know he knows! throw a line out for me Dave on Discovery for HANDICAP 1 Armed Survivalist Types

  • @bassfuryvi Amen,and hallelujah

  • Good info.THANKS as always!!

  • going to buy the book...I hope there are some good knot tying tips in it...thanks

  • Dave is one of the best out there. He has great stuff. Look forward to reading the book and the videos. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Keep on prepping and surviving.

  • Thanks dave glad to have you back.

  • Dave, what size needle are you using? Where can these needles be purchased? Also, how long will the needle stay magnetized? I'm looking forward to receiving your book and the DVD's.

  • @boxerpapa It is a Leather needle, Tandy Sells them as well as many Marine Supply houses for sewing heavy canvas.

  • @boxerpapa A needle if magnetized should retain it until it wears off against ANOTHER METAL OBJECT if that ever does happen. Magnetism is caused by the atoms of the iron revolving together in one direction, in unison. Once you align the metallic poles with either an electric charge or a permanent magnet, it should at least retain SOME of it's magnetic charge and work. There are ways to make the needle a permanent magnet with enough work like Dave was saying. There's ways to charge it.

  • Thanks Dave for keeping it real! A lot of guys in your position wouldn't even bother with You Tube anymore. It just goes to show that you are the real deal! Thanks brother we appreciate it!

  • Thanks Dave for all your videos. I ordered a copy of your magazine yesterday. My son and I have learned a lot from your videos and I appreciate your work. It's feast or famine at my house but when I get my tax check I'm ordering your Phase 1. Thanks again for what you do.

  • I'm putting your book on my Christmas wishlist. I'm going into the Marines and your information will be mighty handy on top of what they teach me. Keep the videos coming, brother. Glad to have you back.

  • Congrats on being a Grandpa Dave!

  • Dave can you please give ISBN number in your description so we all can go to the library and ask for the book libraries buy plenty of books and it is how I read my books for the first run if I really like I buy. IF you guys go to the reference librarian in your branch and ask for that book with the ISBN number title and author and they will locate or buy that book so you can get your hands on it. Just think of how many libraries we have and you get an idea of potential sales.

  • This is great! i think alot of people have been wanting something like this, very practical. I've been looking for a fresnel lens if you know where i could find one? i know i could order one online but that seems alittle like overkill to have a single lens shipped all the way to my house.

  • @Apollosk123 Go to the local drug store, they give them away in the pharmacies usually.

  • You are my inspiration to keep living! I love the outdoors and knowing what you teach me just makes it that much better! Keep up the good, excuse me, AMAZING work, Dave!

  • Great video Dave.. =D

Question: Can you use other batteries? Like say the kind you'd have in your headlamp for example.

  • Comment removed

  • where can i get your book?

  • @Kenshin1080 The web address is at the end of the vid brother, thanks

  • Even my young daughters learned from your recent videos with Cody! They now know how to start fires, purify water and pretty much stay alive when the time comes. Thanks for helping me with this!!!

  • Great video. Just showed my sons the Leaf Compass. Thank You.
