This is the moment before the dawn, in the whole sense. The fearless expectation, of the unknow. That is how we should stay in front of our inconscient.
Can someone tell me if this sound is alike the Gabriel`s Oboe?
Can someone please explain to me the role of a conductor because from what I see..this is a highly over-rated role! Like 99% of the time the ones playing the instruments are never looking at the conductor..they are either concentrating on the instrument or looking at the notes, seldom if ever they look towards the conductor. Or pre-playing the conductor orchestrates the tone of music that will be played?
@robinho1979 Basically, without a conductor you get lost. I'm violonist, and I can tell you, I see him without watching him really. Then, he shows who's gotta play more or less. The conductor I had this year was a benediction.. I really worshiped him.. we played Carmen , and he really explained new things to us.. very talented.
@robinho1979 our senses are more accurated than we can imagine, or even explain . have you ever seen an orchestra without a conductor?A nation without a governor,, ; or a president? Our conscience is the point of a iceberg, all our skills goes very well out of our senses, the sight, hearing etc.....but nothing works well without its presence.
read about the "choral phenomena" in the cure of dysleksia.' you can talk and listen your speech at the same time.. .
@robinho1979 In addition to being a timekeeper, the conductor helps gives the orchestra an overall interpretation of the piece. This work is done during rehearsals. You don't see all that when you attend the performance, but believe me, without all the preparation, the performance wouldn't be 1/4 as enjoyable. The conductor also listens for overall balance, phrasing, wrong notes, and does his/her best to correct all that so the performance is seamless. I'm an orchestral cellist, for the record.
@volk410 Thanks for the info, so the conductor is job is more preperation then anything and during the concert/symphony? The orchestra knows their roles but ocasionaly might look at the conductor for guidence. Is it me but most of the top conductors looks quite excentric?
Just GORGEOUS!

Bizet's Carmen has splendid instrumental music that sometimes I forget it is the opera in the first place.

Bizet, un génie unique, Carmen est une pure beauté, la réincarnation musicale de la grâce et de l'élégance.

Powerful and poignant. He is just weeping at the end, caught up in the beauty of Bizet's art......

Is he conducting at all?

Affirmative

Curious question...
His movements are very small and slow because of the pianissimo, or mp.
This should have been very tested.
Maybe the idea was that everyone should hear the music because there wasn't much to do at all. Anyway, he gives some idea of the tempo beat.

Couldn't agree more. I am playing this suite in my orchestra course and am very very jealous of the 1st clarinettist who gets the solo!! xD

Really??? I played it too!! And this version is quite better than mine. Good luck!! :-)

Thank you!! You should listen to the whole suite - fantastic music

@Kimberleg Why short change yourself? Just go see the opera itself.

La combinación arpa-flauta supera a las demás versiones. Así la pensó Bizet. Esta fabuloso. Gracias.
