Did you know that if you watch the print of 'the great wave' in a mirrored image, it has much more impact? The wave was made from left to right in a time that the Japanese read mainly, right to left. The Wave is much more threatening to them. So if we look at the image the other way around, we can have the same experience.
Ukiyoe was a commercial woodblock art and was a subculture then. They were stuck on the wall like a poster. And the people who have come to Edo in travel bought these as a present.

OMG, you have made my day!! And you've opened with one of my favorite paintings too. I had a book titled 100 Views of Mt. Fuji at one time, and it was stolen. Thank you sooo much!!
yup alot of their traditional music had the same sound, it was because each was trying to say that there is always sadness and discomfort in the world but that there are also very happy and beautiful things and that both are a part of life. Its a gret lesson for how to live your life.

@kasimkasm2009
I wish to express my gratitude to Britain and European.
The ukiyoe is not a stolen work of art.
Japan parted with the culture and the art in old times.
Ukiyo-e fell so far out of fashion that the prints,
now practically worthless, were used as packing material for trade goods.
Europeans valued it.
Britain perfectly preserved it. Thank you! Britain and European.
