  • 16 ppl with no sense of art

  • Did you know that if you watch the print of 'the great wave' in a mirrored image, it has much more impact? The wave was made from left to right in a time that the Japanese read mainly, right to left. The Wave is much more threatening to them. So if we look at the image the other way around, we can have the same experience.

  • Hey Britain.please return Japan the Sharaku collection if you understand that Hokusai is great japanese culture.

  • @kasimkasm2009 forgive my ignorance, but what is the Sharaku collection?

  • somebody tells me what's the name of that song or the artist who made it

  • @drunktrooper666 : Name in Nihongo: 五木の子守歌 Itsuki no Komoriuta

Folk song representative of Kyūshū, Japan. [Village Itsuki] English meaning: Itsuki Lullaby - sung by Babysitter - check Wikipedia

  • Hi,It's quite often question. The song name is ITSUKI-NO-KOMORIUTA. An old folk song from Itsuki region in Kyushu sung by young baby sitter lament for her lonesome life apart from her home..

  • Beautiful song! The traditional japan music is wonderful.

  • And it fits the pictures well.

  • today there are not any woodblock artists who can walk around here and there for 3-4 months, memorize the sights, draw the pictures and engage/pull the prints. hokusai was great.

  • I've always loved Japanese art, especially those paintings of irises on a gold background.

  • i always feel like writing poems when i listen to this, therefor i shall even now.

    a world, ack, so blind.

we are watching the world, without a sight.

through a world of concrete, a world of stress.

oh, why shall we not rest our spirit, just for a little while.

and see the beauty of the world, for at least a little time.

  • the secret is all of us are asleep and we need to wake

it took me a while to get the true meaning of that, yet alone practice awareness

  • Very good. Not particularly Japanese in at least structure, but there is much affinity in it's kokoro(spirit),which is what counts in my book.Thank you for posting that.

  • Thanks!!

  • There were producer and sponsor too, but only Eshi was shown and recorded. It was an art production business.

Hokusai was among the most popular Eshis in Edo period and is still popular now, which is amazing.

    (3 of 3)

  • Your knowlage amaze me, thank you for sharing.

  • These were produced by studio, or workshop, consists of three professionals.

Eshi: Painter who produces master painting

Horishi: Engraver who engraves several wood plates for one master painting

Surishi: Printer who matches colors and prints out from all carved plates.

    (2 of 3)

  • Hokusai did not carve wood to produce his work. Ukiyoe was a cutting edge media during Edo period and mass produced with wood printing technique so that ordinary people could afford and appreciate master painters' work.

    (1 of 3)

  • What impressed me the most on Hokusai's ukiyoes is his ぼboldness on composition. Every frame has a unique composition and that works really well. He is a true genius.

  • Please watch a picture of the Japanese culture.

    Japan is beautiful.

    Please search this beautiful picture

    "wacocoromai"

  • OMG, you have made my day!! And you've opened with one of my favorite paintings too. I had a book titled 100 Views of Mt. Fuji at one time, and it was stolen. Thank you sooo much!!

  • Anybody see what I see?? Hokusai was the grand grand grand grand father of manga

  • Nobody sees that 'cuz...well,its just plain silly!

  • hokusai just made the name manga popular... he was not the father...

  • ♥ Excellent vid! What is the name of this song?

    Thanks

  • Sweet. *****

  • I can't tell where you looped the music, so good job. Thanks. (pics are nice too)

  • I love the "Great Wave of Kanagawa" - I've got the picture!

  • hokusai rawks. traditional japanese art is really underrated

  • so true so very very true

  • @0southy by whom?

  • @0southy I completely agree with you...look in an art book you'll generally see everything from Western masters, but nothing from Asia. Nothing.

  • beautiful paintings and beautiful music, in my opinion the japanese culture has some of the greatest painters in history

  • 北斎がメインなのに曲に関心がいってる。

  • whats the name of this song ?

  • Music: Itsuki no Komoriuta

    Baby-sitter song in Itsuki area/Kumamoto/

    Kyushu/Japan

  • Images et musique en totale harmonie. Vidéo reposante à regarder.

    Félicitations!

  • Cool. Sounds like a softer version from another Video on YouTube "Sakura-Japanese folk music" Love it :)

  • yup alot of their traditional music had the same sound, it was because each was trying to say that there is always sadness and discomfort in the world but that there are also very happy and beautiful things and that both are a part of life. Its a gret lesson for how to live your life.

  • Thanks for that description, it makes perfect sense! I love Japanese art and music, their culture is so beautiful. I feel a close connection with most anything Japanese, so "at home" with it ! I often think it's the finest culture on the planet.

  • i love japanese music

  • me too :)

  • A true Fibonacci artist everything so perfect!

  • Hokusai was a master. He understood the huge signifigance every line has on a picture, therefore he didn't need many lines to vividly express ideas.

  • Who is the musical artist???

  • I adore this video. Thank you!!!

  • >>GenjiXLegend

BGM is ITSUKI-NO-KOMORIUTA, A baby-sitting song sung in KYUSHU district,

A young girl from poor family used to serve for wealthy family apart from her home and family. she lament on her sad

    destiny......

  • Hokusai is my second favorite woodblock artist. The way he catches regular moments in art is just so serene, in a way. This is beautiful music, sounds almost like Gagaku, what is the song named?

  • Ai Nippon...

  • ¡ ¡ E X C E L E N T E ! !

  • Mt. Fuji's everywhere!

  • Hey, they used this music in a flight sim kamikaze mission! I love this song!

  • I love japan !!

  • Same here.

Let's move to Japan together and forever =)

  • yeah..hehe

  • Hokusai is one of my favorite japanese artists...no, scratch that...he's my favorite! I love how he does many different ways to see...Mt. Fuji, I belive? To be able to do all of this with woodblock painting is amazing! I went to a museum recently and they had a whole section of Japanese art, and his work was the most beautiful to me. It's great to actually hear traditional japanese music once in a while as well, before a lot of them tried to imitate america's sounds. Thank you very much!

  • it looks a lot like the work of Ando Hiroshige, I like Ando's work even more though..
