Außerdem ist selbst der 328i Schneller als ein VR6 syncro!!!!

328i : 0-100 = 7,3 sec V-Max=236! Wenn er dann noch die Ansaugbrücke von einem 325 reinbaut hat er 210 PS. Also erzählt hier doch net so nen Müll! VW VR6 ist kein schlechtes Auto , aber Das ewige Problem mit der Heckklappe und den ewigen Problem mit der Steuerkette! bei BMW muss man die nicht wechseln

Hört sich gut an! Fahre auf meinen VR auch eine Hartmann anlage ab Kat und noch ein Tezet Fächerkrümmer :-)

Leider steht er in der Halle , hat nur noch 4 Bar Kompression auf dem 1ten Zylinder.

Wie sieht es mitm verbrauch aus?

Meiner hat sich immer so 10-13l in der Stadt gegönnt, aber auf der Autobahn schafffe ich es bis auf 8 liter (+- 1l)**laut MFA* bei 140 kmh.

Ach ja , gut mal zusehen das jemand auf die Öl Temperatur achtet bevor er aufn Pinsel tritt :-D

ja, da spricht ein fachmann. klar. wenn du beschleunigen willst schaltet man natürlich bei 3000, der begrenzer ist ja nur zum spaß bei 6500, da oben darf man NIEMALS drehen, weil da geht der motor kaputt.

Natürlich sollte / kann man 190 PS dementsprechend fordern - dagegen spricht nichts.

Ich habe hier allerdings schon Videos gesehen, wo die nen VR6 so runter rocken, dass mir der Wagen schon leid tut. Im kalten zustand vollgas, wo der Drehzahlbegrenzer schon um verzeiung bittet.

DESWEGEN würde ich genau hin schauen wenn ich mir ein VR6 holen würde.

Achte auf die Steuerketten *rasseln usw* , VW sagt die Steuerketten sind wartungsfrei aber das ist bullshit.

Man sagt auch die ruhende Zündung ist besser, Ich selber hab die drehende Zündung verbaut.

Einziger vorteil ist man kann denn VR umschlüsseln und kommt so in eine billigere Steuerklasse.

Option ist auch ein Mini Kat oder Kaltlaufregler.

Golf 3 gammelt auch mal gerne an der Heckklappe , die schiebedächer sind manchmal undicht usw usw.

Ist halt kein Neuwagen!

I still have a standard mk3 vr6 Golf, it is a little cracker to be fair. The handling is fair but would be far better if the standard suspension on these cars wasn's so soft and high. I don't know what VW were thinking there at all

well not really... the stock suspension was actually specially designed by VW to give performance handling... even the rear suspension works as a directional axis that at high speeds will help the car make sharp turns in corners (this can be seen when the car makes a sharp turn it puts itself into tripod mode with one of the rear wheels in the air and the other 3 doing the direction, usually used for GT racing cars) this feature was not published in adds and at the time it is still very advanced

Well like i said i don't have major gripes with the handling per se, with only 180 odd bhp and predictable handling it's a confortable car to corner on the limit even in wet weather. However, the suspension is soft and wallowy and prone to body roll on all the standard VR6s i've driven. It really doesn't feel like a sporty hot hatch in any way. I've had 4 mk2 golf GTi's they had far superior cornering stability, ride height and stiffer suspension from standard. CONTINU>>

but i was just saying the directional axis system is the one that is advanced..and u can fix your bad handling problem just changing the suspension for a sporty and more stiff one (because you say you feel yours wallowy) also think about this... the VR6 model of the mk3 was not intended to be a sporty version of the golf mk3 it was just a top-of-line golf with a v6 engine with all the luxurious addons (because of extra weight the v6) the one that intended to be a real sport hatch was GTI/GTI VR6

Hi BIOGENA, good point about the extra power and the add ons rather than it being a more sporty model. That's exactly what it is. And I think you're right about up grading to Coilovers, this would make the car much more direct and sure footed.

I suppose it's got a lot to do with the fact i've had a quite a few mk2s and my last mk2 was a road/track car so it's like going from a sports car to a people carrier with the mk3! I only use it as a second car but it's anything but exciting to drive.

I drive a Volvo 850 T5 for everyday use and that is a much bigger and heavier front wheel drive vehicle yet it is much more fun, will out handle the mk3 VR6 or GTI on any bed or any corner. And to be fair, although the VR6 is quite a bit quicker than the 1.8 and 2.0 GTI, it is mainly about torque and still no where near quick enough to be called fast.

yes u are right,also XD no one will ever be able to replace the Mk1/Mk2 gti, both will always have a special place in our hearts and will always be known to be 2 of the best Sport Hatchbacks of all time.

But I still like alot my Mk3 Gti XD (its not a conventional 2.0,its a 2.0t,yes I added a turbo and upgraded the brakes and the suspension),i will always remember the fisrt time I drove that black stock 2.0 mk3 gti and after bought it from that old lady XD it was from her son that went to UK.

I have a Mk3 VR6 and I don't think the coilovers help as much as you say, they make the car bounce on its tyres too much on bumps and the chassis is not stiff enough for them.

I left the stock suspension on my car and added 28mm anti roll bar on the rear and 23mm on the front. The car is now beautiful. MK3 Golf's handle quite well on slow bends, its just the fast bends they suffer and this fixes the problem without changing the ride or traction.

Hi Monthagny, you could be right about the coilovers as i haven't tried them on a mk3. I've been wondering if the suspension was different for the VR6 or if it was the same as the 1.8 and 2.0 GTi models on the mk3, do you know if this might be the case? If so i was thinking it might be possible that mine was fitted with GTi suspension instead. This would explain the excessively high and bouncy ride. Any info on this would be appreciated. Cheers.

Coilovers are good for the racetrack but on a everyday road car they are a bad idea. VR6's use the same suspension as the GTi's but with slightly harder spring rates. What messes up the handling is the fact the roll bars are way too soft making the car roll too much. Stiffen these up and the car will handle like a MK2 GTI. The fact soft suspension ruins handling is a MYTH,,,look at the 205 GTI. If your car is 'bouncing' that usually means bad shock absorbers.

I've used adjustable coilovers on 2 of my mark 2 golfs and they were fine for road use providing you weren't looking for a really smooth ride. It's always a compramise when you're upgrading for performance purposes so it depends a lot on what you want from the car.

Like you said, i suspected worn shocks as the culprit for my problems and took it to VW where my mate works and he said they are fine and that they are all like that. I only use it as a second car but i am a little disapointed.

Without getting too technical coilovers do not allow you to control the bump/rebound so when you hit a bump the rebound is too hard and you get the bounce from the frequency of the tyre squash.

Before doing anything get a specialist to get to the bottom of your suspension troubles. With very very slight additions a VR6 golf is fantastic, better than most hot hatches produced today. For a VR6 to 'bounce' something is very wrong. If your top mounts are worn you may get strange results.

Hi Monthagny, thanks again for the input. A friend has advised changing the top mountings but it would be worth getting it up in the air and getting to the bottom of the problem. I suspect it is worn shocks or top mountings as you said. If i keep the standard set up do you think some good quality lowering springs would help? Nothing too drastic, say 20mm or so. Even if i sort the bouncy ride out it sits very high and body roll is also an issue. Thanks again.
