Why r there so many haters? I'm originally from HK and have lived in many places around the world. I lived in west LA for 8 yrs and just recently moved. I love SoCal! Weather is Great. There're mountains for hikers and ocean for surfers. Most people are more cultural competent than others states in US due to the diverse population. Every place has its good and its bad. You just have to learn how to appreciate and love what you have.

Even Downtown. Santa Monica's skyline. Beverly Hills. etc.

Greater LA (the part were 17 million people live) is actually denser than greater New York. But still it's core is nothing close to Manhattan. And LA obviously needs more density because it can't keep growing out like it does, at least not in the fire prone low density way that it does. Hmm not really. Greater New York is 21 million. When it comes to metro areas it goes New York > Los Angeles > Paris > London > Chicago. But London and Paris are higher density though. This is only western cities of course. Otherwise the list would be dominated by Asian cities.

The two plates that keep on creating these earthquakes there will cause at some point to ruin the whole west coast. It is still unknown when it will happen but it will eventually. what will happen is, the pacific plate will go under the north american plate and cause the west coast to be floated under water. it all has to do with plate tectonics. Not only LA is affected by that. Almost the whole west coast is.

As a geography student at one of London's top schools, i have to disagree there. We are told not only by teachers, but guest speakers that in instances like the West Coast, the land is constantly changing, but still keeping basic shape, meaning in theory, the land has to be constantly rebuilt on, though the change is so small that we will not notice a big change in our lifetime. Certainatly LA is here to stay, plus with the suburbs growing faster than the sea is coming in, it'll be here for good
