Notice that there are literally no other examples of this type of board except this clip from this movie. It's cool, no doubt, but the need for a narrative driven structure for this movie really hyped it up as the key to riding even LARGER waves.

This is especially ridiculous given how unstable everyone clearly is on their feet.

@stromuhrman This was from 2001-2002 with the 2nd generation foilboards. Now the new foilboards have broader fins and are refined. It's MUCH easier to ride, easier to control, more stable than earlier foilboards.

This board can also be seen in a few other surf movies so it's not just in Step into Liquid. It was designed to eliminate surface conditions which, if you are a real surfer, you should appreciate. No more ghost chop, wind/wave chop, or break whitewater to ruin sets.

This *isn't* a replacement of your primary board. Just an extra tool/board to use when the chop gets too rough for a normal board, or you want to ride a monster wave with serious suction.

Not as much surface area is touching the water so drag is reduced, hence you can slip down the face faster and do not have to worry about being sucked back into the lip. Easier on your knees and legs so you can ride more sets. Laugh at wind or wave driven chop and ride sets you'd have to otherwise sit out.

I have tried the Airchair. I found it very fun. But for me, this surf with Foil has no interest. What is the point? The purpose of surfing is to feel the water and to manoeuver easily. Here we have none of it...

the only flaw is that its attached so if you bail goin on a 50 footer, youre gonna be in deep shit...for real. When your still attached, youre gonna get your ankles ripped off, but maybe theyres a quick release to the bindings, however, maybe not, although that would probably be smart.
