Apparently 120 degrees also works. There is some Japanese guy on youtube who makes engines that way...and boy do they run!

the crancshaft is not set 90 degrees apart, it is 180 therefore it is not a stirling engine

is there some reason you show a 180 degree offset between pistons when all the others i have looked at are set to 90 degrees?
