the ref needs to back the fuck off. A ref should never impact a fight as much as he is doing. Bouncing the rope , getting in between them between punches etc... someone needs to remind that ref that he isn't the one in the spotlight. i know what you mean about comparisons in style. even then there are too many factors to consider. ultimately, i think all of the martial formats overlap principally, anyway. truly it would come down to the skill, discipline and experience of the individual fighter as opposed to the style itself.

khmer martial arts was written down on banana tree and ankor wats carved in stone in 12th century. dont know what well you need as evidence. muay thai went as far a the 15th century and blamed burmese for the destruction. bokator alone predated the 6th century a.d when khmers hindu went to war with thvey from present day india/sri lanka. if chenla and funna are counted as cambodia, cambodia would have been born in the 100 b.c.

I think this is just muay thai without the gloves. Doesn't muay boran use grappling and joint locks. I know that most places that advertise muay boran usually just teach muay thai.

Wow that fight got good at the end. At first the Burmese fighter was winning, then the Thai hit him with the elbow which knocked him down.
This is Muay Kawd Chuek, not Muay Boran. It is a yearly tradition between Burma & Thailand which has lasted 100's of years. This also shows the history between these 2 countries when the Burmese Kings would have tournaments with prisoners for entertainment.

MMA isn't at all a new idea. Most fully combative arts incorporate many of MMA's ideology. What ur calling western boxing is only the modern sport form. The full combative art used throws, kicks, wrestling,& even eye gouging. Check out boxing prior to the Queensbury Rules established in 1867. Early matches were bare knuckle, had no rounds, no time limits, & were no holds barred. Check out James Figg. I think you'll be impressed.

the ref needs to back the fuck off. A ref should never impact a fight as much as he is doing. Bouncing the rope , getting in between them between punches etc... someone needs to remind that ref that he isn't the one in the spotlight.
