I remember Robotech, I used to watch it when I was a little kid.

This movie was pretty good overall.

I wish they continued the first season when Rick Hunter was leaving the earth with SDF-3

Does any1 know if there's gon be a sequel to this movie? It didnt exactly end..

they couldn't continue it because the series called Macross only had 35 episodes.hg called the first season the Macross saga but it was actually a stand alone tv series combined with 2 other anime

No it takes place right after the New Generation (Mospeada) part of robotech.

I bought this on DVD... enjoyed it very much... but I've been waiting for them to continue.

Well it is 2044 in the movie, so he would have been like 50ish. The actual event happened a few years earlier in the books.

1 more question, what is the age rating of this anime?

I ask that because I hope they can turn the violence up a little and not reduce this to a kiddy cartoon. I mean its 20 years already, they should at least make it for an adult audience.

Dude, the original Robotech wasn't a kiddy cartoon, so don't worry. Lots of violence doesn't automatically make an animated show mature. It just makes it appeal more to immature 16 year olds. I'd worry more about the cheese factor of this sequel.

I have 3 questions for this Robotech like:

1) What happened to these characters: Lisa, Max, Minmay, Breetai, Miriya, Dana, Bowie, Musica, Marie Crystal, Nova, Sean, Scots crew from the 3rd Season? Why aren't they there?

2) Whatever happened to the Regess husband in the Sentinel movie? WIll they explain about him in this anime?

3) After all these years waiting to make another Robotech, why now? Why couldn't they go make one back then?

1) Lisa is in a coma after the ill fated REF war at Tirol, MAx, Miriya and Minmay were lost in space when the SDF-3 failed to get to earth. Dana, Bowie and those from season 2 are also lose. Scott's crew stayed on earth. Breetai died fighting the Regent.

2)THey explained about him in the books and comics. He died fighting breetai.

3) No money back then. THey needed funds.

And from what i can tell, this anime is PG13+ definately.

The movie?? No. But then again, Max Sterling wasnt introduced in Robotech until like 13 episodes later. We know he survived, so he will most probably appear in a future series.

A pity too. The original Japanese Macross and the Americanized Robotech both have their highs and lows and both have had... less than satisfactory sequels. There are die hard fans of the Japanese origianal who have totally despised Robotech or parodized it. But I've only encountered one moderate fan who likes them both.

Ah, but on the other hand i have encountered ppl who absolutely love Robotech but not the original Macross especially in terms of continuity. You must admit that Robotech's expanded universe in terms of the novels and comics are wayyy better than MAcross's sequels.

With my knowledge, Robotech never had a sequel that actually got off the ground, not ONE original one. The only sequel that was iffy was Macross 7, and even that sold heaps of soundtracks, videos and merchandise.

They're the same. In the Japanese version Miria calls him Maximillian Jenius, but in the English version he's called Max Sterling.

not really. The way the character is portrayed are quite different in Robotech and Macross. And so is the way his romance with Miriya developes. Its quite different if you watched both versions. Hence, aside from looks, Max Sterling and Maximillian Jenius are 2 different characters.
