Thank you once again for putting these up. I don't check PATV for anything else so these are an AWESOME reminder when there's a new episode. Thank you so much. I love this show.
Civilization; because we all know that medieval knights would kick the crap out of a tank column.
The easiest fix is the mass effect style of outlawing anything that allows an individual to achieve capabilities beyond human limits (replacing lost limbs = fine, super-strength = banned).
In my opinion DXHR failed when it was most important, the climaxes, boss battles and endings alike. There's an excuse for the battles because they were outsourced for an unrelated studio that prefers all-out action (bad move), but the finale seems shoehorned in and you don't really have a lot of variety with the endings once you think about their core.
But for me the biggest disappointment was how they did absolutely nothing with Cassan. Otherwise great, enjoyable game however.
I find the central augs yay/nay conflict kinda silly tho. The two big points raised are drug addiction because of implant rejection prevention (which can be fixed soon in-universe) and "impurity of humanity". Wooden leg yay, carbon fibers nay? "Greater than human" augs I could elaborate on as well if I had the space, but basically think growing acceptance&impact of cosmetic operations.
The story just didn't seem to be able to catch up to DX1's Morpheus and Helios, despite Cassan's appearance.
@Craydon deus ex human revolution was not racist when jensen calls that asian dude a lacky it isnt racist, a lacky is someone with poor character not an asian
Some folks having increased wealth or tech while others have the same amount they did previously is an improvement over no one's wealth or technology increasing.
Also, the original Deus Ex was close to our world as it dealt with FEMA concentration camps, fears of a state-manufactured pandemic illness, and mentioned the Rothschilds and Rockefellers control of international finance.
HR's conspiracies were tamer b/c they were more fictional.
I would never be the one to berate a creator for experimenting with new ideas for or deviating from the original premise of a show, but I prefer the more general episodes. The ones which cover a subject that unite many games, some of which I can think of examples for on my own. I've liked the Deus Ex and Call of Juarez episodes because they've provided good examples of themes and patterns you've discussed in the past, but I just don't want the meat of the series to be "Why x game is good/bad"
Ok, I have not watched this video and not read any comments on it yet, but somehow I have a feeling that I will eventually purchase Deus ex: Human Revolution as a result of it.
I really liked this episode! I learned about a game I didn't know much about (saw the review, but it doesn't give much away). Also I love how you dig deep give a deeper information, and though process to a video game. It made me interested in trying out the game to be honest. I want to say those types of episodes are my fave, like when you talked about God of War 1 went into greek tragedy, when you get us to look deeper in a game I love it!
The ending of this game left a really bad taste in my mouth. The boss fights were astonishly awful, yes, but at least they were visually interesting (except Barret's). I loved the use of colours in this game and the bosses, and of course the areas you fight them in, were no different. However the "ending-tron 3000", as yahtzee put it, was just ridiculous.
And yeah, definitely do an episode on Dark Souls! (Demon's Souls too if you can)
@Smarty4789 The boss fights were made by another studio, actually. And they were running close to the deadline at the end, which you can notice very well.
You mentioned Dark Souls at the beginning, and I would *LOVE* to see your guys' take on that game's elements (difficulty, punishment for failure, feeling of isolation, barebones story told through visuals and circumstance more than dialogue or exposition, etc.)

what do you guys think of the Zelda franchise, namely the new skyward sword?
also, do you have plans to reupload the old episodes that used to be on the old website? I'd love to rewatch some of those videos
