  • There are some Chicago skyscrapers that have not been built yet Chicago Spire,Tall Tower,Mile High Tower and Ford Ham Spire

  • I think u r mixed up with the Chicago spire

  • Looks like the Burj Dubai only taller

  • this is FFAAkkE

  • where can if find these images? im trying to build this on sketchup but i dont have any good plans or elevations

  • This Mile tower being built in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at a cost of about $ 15 billion, I'm not sure of the number

    Thank you

  • @MegaZooooom i live in jeddah in saudi arabia

and who want to built it is prince alwaled ben talal

  • RIP FLW greatest architect ever

  • frank lloyd wright the architect designed this tower in the 50's \

according to him it would have atomic elevators and landing pads for over 100 helicopters!

  • frank lloyd wright the architect designed this tower in the 50's \

according to him it would have atomic eleveators and landing pads for over 100 helicopters!

  • this didnt copy anything.....it was designed by frank lloyd wright in the 1950s..... just sayin, and the official name was the Illinois

  • actually the burg khalifa's design was inspired by the former sears tower

  • @mdlicas

More than inspired, the architectural firm which constructed the Sears Tower also was placed in charge of building the Burj Khalifa....

  • lol whats the point?

  • Nice Song.

    Pink Floyd "Learning to Fly"(1987).

  • fuck that fake shit.. WILLIS TOWER FOR LIFE!

  • @amazingtubemanx35 i agree with you!

  • what the f*ck!.. planes are going to crash into it!

  • @coolakiIlen007 not if we put some kind of building-based star wars laser device to zap them before they get to it.

  • lol now the pilots of aircrafts can wave to their families through the window....that would be funn...!!!!

  • While Americans dream of having tall skyscrapers, Asians build even taller.

  • alright then

  • I don't like this tower. It's way to tall. It would kill the chicago skyline.

  • How high it is, but its the Burj Khalifa in Dubai UAE. The proposed mile high tower will be built in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

  • wtf.... this is a complete replica of burj khalifa..../burj dubai... and anyways this tower is canceled and dubai has the 2 highest towers....

    1) Nakheel Harbour & Tower

    2) Burj Khalifa/Dubai

  • @53rv3d, It was designed before the Burj Khalifa, in fact the burj khalifa got it's inspiration from the mile high tower.

  • @53rv3d It was designed in 1956 by Frank Lloyd Wright, if this name tells you something. There were camels roaming the most of the territory of Dubai then.

  • @53rv3d it was designed by the one of the worlds greatest achitects, Frank Lloyd Wright he designed it in 1956, he invented the modern biulding in the 20'S

  • @53rv3d Yh, dude this was designed in the 1950's by Frank Loyd Write, totally a copy of Burj Dubia (the giant penis in the sky), NOT!!!! People claim Burj Khalifa copied this!

  • how high?

  • its canceled long time ago

  • They gotta build this monster!

  • @Erik8896 omg!

  • thats right CHI TOWN the town of great deep dish pizza and the home of the mile high tower (witch will never happen)

  • @ChockFullONuts1, but that deep dish pizza is still really good haha

  • @ChockFullONuts1 Here is an addition to your rather incomplete knowledge of this great city:

Chicago - the birthplace of skyscrapers.

Also this is Chicago architectural firm that designed Sears tower, Burj Khalifa and many other famous buildings.

  • @BravaEncore you forgot Al Capone haha

  • @ChockFullONuts1 same thing happened to the chicago spire, & ironically the already existing foundation for the spire looks a lot like a deep dish pizza. unfortunately, the spire will inevitably have the same fate as the mile high illinois & the apathetic attempt for freedom tower(s). the arabs really raped it this time & i doubt they'll be topped for another millenia.

  • I'm not sure it would actually be possible to construct that, although i'd love to see it, that's like twice the burj khalifa, and the rest

  • that is the tallest building i have ever saw in my life

  • is it even posible to build this, where the fuck are they gunna get all the steel and concrete, the consruction workers willing to work that high up, and people to use the space inside if they were actually gunna build this

  • As usual, America is all talk.

  • weres the mega tower in abu dubai?

  • you mean the al burj? its guna be 1200m high :)

  • LOL!

  • with the elevator you need for 800m(2600ft) like 3-5minutes not more.

i will life in the building but the cost will be about 60000$ for only one m².

  • This building was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and I can definitely see how the architects of the Burj Dubai were inspired by this design. I'm glad to see Wright's genius hasn't been forgotten.

  • Hurry up and finish it! Quit talking about it. Do it!

  • So what happened? The bad economy? I thought a new, huge skyscraper was still in the works for Chicago? No?

  • oh well chicago has a tallest bilding in north amaerica

  • not for long

  • what r u talking about ?

  • the sears tower is not gonna the tallest video in the U.S when the freedom tower is done

  • yea but chicago will still have to tallest tower in usa when the chicago spire is done

  • @devang88

No the burj dubai beats the spire.

    Spire: 609.6 meters

    Burj Dubai: 816 meters

  • yea but when do u really think that gonna finish its been posted poned for almost 2 years

  • chicago no new york yes

  • But I thought they were building the Spire Bldg? Did it fall through?

  • The Al Burj Dubaj will be 1600m(5250ft) high.

This is the biggest Building in the next 10years.

The Spire Bldg dont fall but dont will be so high.

Search after Dubaj in 1990 and now its a very big diffrent.

USA will be have high buildings but not the highest.

  • looks like starwars

  • This tower would be constructed in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and owned by the Saudi businessman Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has disease work on the project other words, the city of Jeddah will be the biggest competitor for the city of Dubai in the near future

  • No, it was designed for Chicago ie. it's name, The Illinois.

  • They should have built this...

  • your talking about the chicago spire is 2000 feet high its in illinois the tower u talking about it the dubai

  • 1 Mile high tower is proposed in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia..

  • the Burj Dubai was just recently opened i think this month. The tower is just a hair under 2700 feet tall

freakin amazing. They are going to build a second that is even taller, the Al Burji. Supposed to reach 3400 feet.

  • I only say that this is possible if it stands there! ^^

  • yeah we here in the US used to have two pretty nice and big buildings...until some a-holes decided to get drastic >:(

  • @MrJeffersonsBlanket Thats because then they can say "we got higher towers than you, you losers!" :D muhaha

  • so wouldn't you need to have the support beams at least 1,000 feet in the ground to counter balance the sway? Mile-high skyscrapers are something I dont expect to see until at least 2070 if I'm still alive, the biggest one i saw was in Popular Science it was in Dubai and it was 1001 meters tall (thousand and one nights get it?)

  • The architect of this building was Mr Mies van der Roe, I think.

  • anyways I know this song and this tower is the Frank LIod mile high tower

  • yes so shut up!

  • burji dubai is tall i mean this will never be built mile?

  • are you sure this is possible ?

  • i have no idea but there was a possibilty of building it at one point.

  • @Maxiedude13 an analogue of the mile high prototype has already been seriously proposed for construction either in jeddah or riyadhh, w/ the budget already completely allocated; just waiting on soil samples... it'll be a little <5,000' in comparison to khalifa's 2,717'.

  • The decline of the US. US buildings will only be 1/4 as high as this. I would not want to be born an American and watch the country slide economically, military wise and everything else.

  • @stevie ng34 buddy, well just end up like you in the u.k., a washed out hegemonic power gone commie. as if we didn't see this coming decades ago...

  • good thing it wasnt built yet then it would probley end up like the twin towers

  • THis would put an all new meaning to the Mile High Club!!

  • OMG build high towers in middle east.....Terrorists.......Airplanes.......High Tower.......

  • i tought the mile high is gnna be in saudi?....anyways it will be very dangerous to build this in chicago...coz is a windy place right?

  • It might, this vid was just about the former one and Chicago actually isn't really windy at all although I don't kno w were then name windy city came from.

  • hahahah..well burj dubai is tall enough for me!

  • Chicago is quite windy, actually...

  • ya i guess lol

  • man it would be nice to have the tallest tower in chicago :]

  • If the elevator does 65 MPH or better, it should be ok.

I wouldn'tt want to walk stairs for 2 hours.

  • Al burj is going to be the tallest, about 1400 metres. But now the tallest is Burj Dubai =D

  • I believe the Mile High would be the tallest if built but ya Al Burj/Nhat will probably be the tallest.

  • Wont this complicate things with planes? lol

  • planes fly about 10 miles and more -,-

  • Feel like doing something crazy? Lets take the stairs! LOL

  • maybe the should make two sets of up and down stairs, but the down stairs is just a GIANT slide =)

  • Kind of cool, but i only got two butt cheeks. I don't wanna waste them sliding down a skyscraper. ;)

  • c'mon all the cool kids are doing it.

  • thats an ass long elevator ride

  • I bet you can see Europe from up there.

  • there is a higher building the name is ultima tower and 2 miles high San Francisco California and it use natural energy and is intended to house one million residents. it started at 1991 and doesnt know the deadlines

  • the elevators were suposed to go 60 mph! im serious!

  • I really think this building would need LOTS OF WEIGHT in order to not be knocked down by the slightest wind. No offense, but a mile high is just a bit too high. I already think that the Burj Dubai that is almost complete (about half mile high) is a bit too high. But I'm not complaining, I'm a Hongkonger, and we live in high heights because of all the tall public apartment complexes.

  • i heard it was desinged with one elavator

  • much more then that.

  • lol, look the petronas towers beside that one.

But the petronas towers exists, that think is only a draw.

Is being constructed a real one like that with 1200 meters in Dubai

  • how long do you think that would take to climb the stairs just imagine i thought it was hard to run a mile but a mile going up stairs wow

  • It didn't look that High at first, but then when I saw the comparison, I said chit =X

  • Wasn't this thought up of Frank Lloyd Wright?

  • It looks like a huge version of the Burj Dubai! But I think a mile high building is going a bit over the top! Would be too tall to take a picture of it!

  • it's funny to read american people complaining about skyscrapers in other countries. but this video is somewhat booring.

  • Ya It is pretty boring but it was one of my first vids.

  • lets hope the version for Saudi Arabia will proceed cause I really would like to see a mile high building in reality. Preferably built before the date of 2090.

  • They should build this in New York and put a huge flag that said "kiss my ass al qaeda!" on it.

  • This tower looks similar to the Burj Tower in Dubai.

  • If they had built that, it would make the rest of chicago's skyline look small. It would look horrible. How would they fit it on a postcard.

  • Ummmm...sideways!!

  • LEARNING TO FLY IS AN AWESOME SONG

  • i know someone who described this as "another steel penis penetrating the sky"

  • in america don' t need it to building too HIGH skyscraper towers,,,

    what for,,,

    why need it

  • the architects of the burj dubai used the exact same concept of the illinios...

  • Comment removed

  • That will be amazing

  • the father of architecture drew that Illinois tower. frank lloyd wright.

  • anyone can draw a picture, when they build it i will be impressed, the burj dubai is the most amazing thing ive ever seen.

  • You mean when they find a client rich enough to pay for it. This monster was already well planned with only "minor" questions behind atomic elevators. Everything else structurally was well thought out. So even if it was only a picture, it is still an impressive and accurate vision.

  • This is the Illinois I think

  • That's obscene! Not as goofy as dynamic architecture though, eesh. The original mile high tower(pictured at 0:15 ) was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. A building that tall would be tough to engineer today, but can you imagine trying to build it in the 40's? FLW called his tower The Illinois, by the way... By the time we can build something this tall, the elevator thing won't be an issue because we'll just be teleported straight to our rooms. Haha.

  • who carer how toll it is, all that will do is make an ass long elevator ride -.-

  • EGO!

Always wanting more then the other guy.

  • they'd use bullet trains

  • How is this physically possible???

  • They just have to lay a really deep foundation.

  • if this is atully going to be built then this will make the burj dubai look like a run-down shack.

  • This thing is a sky huger. Not a skyscraper. Get it right!

  • skyfucker you mean

  • Wright was way ahead of his time.

and hes still ahead of today's standards.

If this was built it would still be the tallest man made structure.

  • I find it no coincidence that the architecture firm that designed the Burj Dubai is based in Chicago. I think they did a little "borrowing" of Wright's design.

  • This building was only concept, it will never be built unless we invent a new type of elevator that will reduce the amount of space needed to run current ones. Look Mile High Tower up on google and it will tell you all the specifics of why it wouldn't work. It was a genius design, but elevators were its primary downfall.

  • god, its chicago again. WHY NOT PHILLY?!?!?!

  • Does Philly have any once planned mile high towers?

  • Chicago is the birth place of the skyscraper.

that's why they keep putting it there.DUH!!!

Don't worry, Philadelphia will get a nice new modern skyscraper for all to see.

  • This Mile-High tower will boost up the membership of the Mile-High CLub!

    lol!

  • look up the "Dubai City Tower" on wikipedia, 2400 metres, that's scary, and the nakheel tower as well, at 1400 metres that's also scary

  • We will make the GREAT PERSIA again

ما کشور آریایی بزرگ را دوباره خواهیم ساخت

  • no way

  • Is it going to be built?

  • and?

  • and what?

  • to get at the last floor

only changing the elevator at each 150 floors

    not impossible

  • the burj dubie is 1/2 high so yea and stil growing so ur right

  • it's 490m tall is is estimated at 812 when it's finished

  • 818m when it's finished

  • lol, the "Mile High Tower"?!?!? USA! USA! USA!

  • no nextbestrockstar it is ksa ksa ksa

  • wtf? why?

  • Also, I read that it is impossible with our CURRENT technology because elevator shafts going that high up would be waaay too unstable. But, maybe in the future we could design it.

  • If it was ever built, the top floor would have to be air tight because the air is so thin that high up.

  • impossible. maybe if it waas built on the bottom of the grand canon and used the rock on the side for support

  • would this be possible???

  • Some people think it is and some do not.

  • it iz goin 2 be built in JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA

  • No it's not.

  • is this even possible?

  • Thanks!.....if ur not being sarcastic :S

  • Actually, a mile high tower is still going to built. Not many people know about it, but I have done some research, and a 5,000 ft. tower will eventually be built somewhere in the Middle East. Starting and finishing dates are not know.

And there is also supposed to be "The Chicago Spire" built in Chicago, but it is currently on hold due to the economy.

  • in jeddah, Saudi Arabia

  • looks a lot like burj dubai

  • this is just a concept they come out with once every 10 years and every twenty years they actualy build it. this would be cool in chicago if it was needed. but, it is not what chicago needs is more highrises in the south and northwest

  • Actually it's a once project that was going to be constructed by the late architect and designer Frank Lloyd Wright. The building was designed back during the 1950's and was suppose to be constructed in Chicago.

  • HAHA...i know...Srry for asking such a dumb question to which the answer was obvious but I felt I had not posted a comment on Youtube for a while and I just thought id give it a go

  • HAH This is such a joke!

People are saying "Wow this is going to be built?"

Haha. Those people saying that are such kids!

The economy sucks so bad! Even Chicago Spire stopped!

You think THIS project will be built?

What I am telling are facts. Rate this comment down guys! You rate it down, that means you don't know what the economy is! Everyone SHOULD know that the economy is bad.

  • Yes the economy is bad, but if you read my comment I just posted on this video up top, you will discover that a Mile High tower will be built in the Middle East.

  • im guesing a mile duh
