  • are you unable to import the track? when you drag and drop does nothing happen? Can you convert your music file to a .wav file?

  • my problem is there is no line like yours in 2:36, could you help me please what should I do?

  • new MacBooks just have a button at the bottom right corner to upload mp3 tracks from iTunes...just to save someone from trying to do all the shit he did 4 years ago...

  • @wakenbakejake420 you just saved me sooo much time. thanks.

  • thanks man. although my itunes is a little different in how to get to importing settings you helped out big time.

  • Oh hey! Have you ever tried bee4biz (google it)? it is a link locker which pays every time someone does your survey and unblocks your protected url. A buddy of mine makes tons money with them just getting people to do surveys.

  • i think you can use a midi file. but i won't sound as good as an mp3. Make sure the mp3 doesn't say (vbr) and it must be 320 kbps

  • I have a question is it ok if i use Midifile instead of mp3? coz i tried grabbing the music to garageband but it doesnt work out...i hope u can help me..Thank u..:D

  • Awesome! Thanks for the great video!

  • dammit... garageband wont let me drag the mp3 into it..

  • @bilnabiln drag and drop from the Finder instead of iTunes. That should work!

  • does it go for ipad?

  • THIS IS A LIFE SAVER. I CAN NOT THANK YOU ENOUGH RIGHT NOW. SO EXCITED.

  • i have a co1u usb condeser mic. do i record on mono 1, 2 or stereo 1/2? can someone please help!!!

  • nice one! quick question...i have the samson co1u usb mic but can't hear myself through photobooth any ideas? I can hear myself fine on garageband although should i have my settings on stereo, mon1 or mono 2 when recording vocals/instruments? I have noticed during playback on my mac the left output is louder even though my settings are balanced for speaker output??

I usually record straight through photobooth for youtube but i can't hear the mic output. It's annoying :(

  • hey any of yall know how to edit vocals on garageband?

  • @Stephayeees Yep, have a look on my channel for mixing drums, vocals, guitars e.t.c

  • Thank you! You are awesome. I have wanted to do this for a while and prob. wouldn't have figured it out without your help! Muchos Gracias!! :)

  • the problem is that i cant find the :preferences -->advance .

there is not import or any other customization of files in itunes 9

  • your right!

    its now under "General"

Find a button that says "import settings"

  • @dsorce what font did you use in your title slide?

  • Thanks so much Danny...you're awesome

  • Thanks man!

  • when i go to advanced when your trying to increase the bitrate of a song mine doesnt say importing so i dont kno how to increase the bitrate of the instrumentals what do i do

  • Dany thanks for this video.

Do you know why the heck GB stops recording all of a sudden? Would high digital distortion have anything to do with it?

Also, what would you recommend if I'd want to record my live radio show and the recording level on GB makes the recording come out either distorted or too quiet compared to other songs?

    any insight appreciated, thank you

  • but it wont work for me because i have itunes songs that i wanna transfer into garage band because i wanna make a cheerleading mix. so how would i do that?

  • its called a pop filter. not being rude. just helpin

  • dude... thnx alot.. ur video helped me alot with my project... thnx a milliom

  • do the macbooks (laptops) have a built in microphone?

  • Basically, you want something with a higher bit rate. Normally mp3s are like 128 or 192, you want something that is 320. Wav is cd quality so it would work even better.

  • what do you mean by "change the origional mp3 into something bigger and badder"? convert to wav? not sure.

  • how do you make it so you can hear your vocals on your left and right side? for some reason i can only hear it on my left ear. i even switched headphones to make sure it wasn't a headphone issue. hopefully you have a solution. thanks.

  • From the bottom of my n00b heart, I thank you.

  • Can you import a song then isolate the instruments in that song? Like take out the guitar or whatever?

  • no not really. It would be like trying to remove the black from a painting that has like 12 other colors in it.

  • @JesusWeptt you would have to have all the original tracks to do that

  • haha hit track! hit track!

  • i think its about 60 bucks

  • wow thanks dude didn't know that

i will buy a microphone how much

    does your mic cost?

cus now im using my rockbands mic xD

  • anyone else notice the subliminal thing that flashes up at like 2.50

  • yeah it says "how to import an mp3 in garage band

    and record a vocal" lol

  • Dude this helped a lot! thanks!

  • Hey, I have the same problem, I have the updated version of itunes, I went to preferences and then to advanced but it doesnt have the import tab. Any ideas?

  • did you got to preferences first? Under the itunes pull down menu. Maybe upgrade your version of itunes that may solve the problem

  • for some reason my itunes doesn't have that importing tab under advanced preferences? please help

  • thanks man this helped.! alot

  • that particular mic is connected via usb. And yes if you want to record your voice you need a microphone. You could use the "mic" on the laptop, but again make sure your volume is off on your speakers or a feedback loop will occur

  • How is the microphone connected to the computer? and do you have to have a microphone?

  • Hello- thank you for this informative site. May I ask you a question-I am able to do what you said and import music into garageband BUT I have a music track that was sent to me as a MPEG stream and it does not what to load into a track. Any thoughts on what I can try?

  • If the audio is STREAMED then you have to find a way to record the audio into the session or Garage band. The way you can find out if its a file you can import is the size. For an mp3 its usually 1 meg per stereo minute.

  • Thanks for the reply! I do know it's a streamed mp3.

Do you know what i can do to drag it on to a track in Garageband

I am able to drag a song off i-tunes without a problem. please HELP!!!

  • convert the file in itunes to a aiff or wav.

Go in to your itunes preferences/advanced/importing. change "import using" to wav or aiff. Select your track then convert to aiff/wav. OR find a way to RErecord the music from another source to your computer

  • Thanks very much for the great info.

I had done all that and it did not work.

I have this friend sending me a different file so I can try import it.

  • Thanks so much! I could NOT figure out why Garage Band wasn't accepting my mp3s, turns out it was the bitrate.

  • omg! i was debating on whether i should get this program or not. this looks so easy and user friendly. (compared to what im using now). thanks for the vid.

  • look carfully at 2.46 and 47

  • y does it flash at 2.47minuts sumting there is a bunthch ov words

  • awesome info dude. thanks

  • thats weird, the first time i sent a track to itunes, it was also called 'test 2'
