No matter what changes I make to the graphics settings and junk, I always get an error saying that the program "dolphin" has encountered an error and needs to be shut down, and that the x_audio2 backend was the reason for this.

A little point for all the "its slow" guys.

Right click the game iso in the list and look if the game forces to just use 1 core ; using 2 makes it tremendous faster ; you can also use 3 cores (1 for sound only) to speed it.

There is a lot of speedup potential if you get the right setting for a game ; for me its even that most games run way too fast so i have to slow it down.

I'm really impressed with the Dolphin emulator how it performs the main key is having a decent CPU since it takes tremendousness amount of CPU power to emulate games and even more at higher settings so if you have a monster GPU it wont matter that much a Mid end card would work pretty nicely as long as you have a decent CPU.

Keep in mind all games do not work 100% but the ones that really do they are amazing!

Impressive. Can anyone confirm how the emulator fares graphic and FPS-wise compared to the actual consoles. (Assuming a computer like the one in the description or better).

I have used this for skyward sword and I can say that it's just as good as playing it on a TV. The only drawback would be that you need to have a computer that can handle it.

@sebrporte I run Dolphin on an AMD X2 250 [3.625Ghz] with 4GB RAM and HD5770 and it's really good! I use Direct3D9 with Auto window scaling and no AA on 1920x1080. The other option is to go with 1280x720 with 4xAA. Dolphin makes the Wii experience better than any dedicated console out there - PC hardware aside. The videos on Youtube just don't do it justice!

@BankaiHalo yes, i have a setup similar to yours, and all my games runs at a constant 60 frames, i have not tested mw3 but i believe dolphin should be able to run it.

@pablokornilovich well the graphic is a lot worse than the PC version, so theres little reason to play it on a Wii Emulator for PC if you can simply play the PC version.

If still slow go to emulator>frame skipping>1

if you would like widescreen.

@erquantum got to dolphins website then go to the configuration area on the site it should give u all the setting that speed up dolphin but keep disable lighting unchencked cause it makes some games have a really lighter color than they actually have.

I might try this emulator, a friend borrowed me his Wii, and playing some Twillight princess..and would like to play other wii games iv missed after i give it back aswell, what about the Wii remote games though, do they run great? what about the synchronization ? like DBZ tenkaichi and friends

I don't know how DBZ tenkaichi works with the real wiimote but you can set to play just like with the gamecube controller and it's fine, if not better than doing silly motions in front of your monitor. The game runs very smoothly.

@drivenstardust this probably wont be help full, but some games do that for me too and i have to close and open 3 or 4 times before it works but im betting you would have tried that there is one trick someone told me for a similar issue and it will also help if you are having a hard time with star fox go to config set frame rate limit to 60 an check the use fps for limiting box. oh and you may wana try older versions of dolphin, Gl.

Some games take some time to start, it should show yellow text at the top. If not, try to download the emulator pre-configured, that worked for me.

My specs are exactly the same, besides the CPU which is a lower model AMD 630 Phenom II X4 @ 2.8 GHz (which is stock).

Any idea on performance? shouldn't be that much different to what this person is getting I assume?

I used Dolphin back in late 09 or early 10 on another rig which isn't quite as powerful as this but performance was terrible on Super Smash bros brawl, something in excess of 15-25fps. I just don't want to go to all the trouble to get unplayable performance.

No, it doesn't unless you have very good PC. You don't need as fast computer to use dolphin as computer to use PCSX2, whereas Wii is much stronger machine than PS2.

@jedenzniewielu My computer isn't exactly VERY good but it's better than average i guess, i emulate ps2 perfectly ;) , the fun thing about the wii is the wii mote... if i'd want to play something without it id just use a regular console...! i saw that the emulator has wiimote compability if you do something though, i got used to Swinging my sword with my hand and aiming my bow at zelda, the game never is the same without the wiimote :d, since i have the real thing ATM.

@digitalmadnessRJ Well I downloaded AND an older version of dolphin emulator, upon which I also downloaded a NEW iso version, this time from emu paradise. Same error, same problem ... I'm beginning to think it's my computer :( Imma try it on another computer to test this theory. I might also try to mount this iso to my wii but I'd rather play it on my computer atm though. Still it'd be nice to know WHAT the error means !!!! Where the problem is located!
