@NickoliLion You must be smoking some good stuff to believe this will occur. FSU will knock off OU early in the season and UAT is going down in Happy Valley. UAT will further lose at least two to three additional games this year. OU will not lose after FSU since they do not essentially play anyone, just like UAT with their out of conference cupcake schedule which includes Kent State. Better be careful with Kent State since they could duplicate the UL-Monroe disaster of 2007 in Tuscaloser.

@arviagent13 Both references came from early reporter's descriptions of the team. Prior to 1907, Alabama's football squads were referred to as the"Thin red line". In 1907, though, Alabama faced Auburn, who was heavily favored to win. Due to rain, the field itself was a sea of red mud. Alabama ended up holding Auburn to a 6-6 tie, and thereafter was referred to the crimson tide.
The elephant comes from the 1930 UA vs Ole Miss game; Alabama's linemen were called "red elephants" due to size.
