Praying gets you through when nothing else will. When I was pregnant with my youngest son, I went severely pre-ecclampsic. The doctors told my husband not to expect me to make it. However, the members of almost a dozen churches were praying for me. Praise, God! I'M STILL HERE!

@zideffil Immaculate conception does not mean "virgin birth" it is mostly a Catholic belief but I think the Eastern Orthodox church also believes this! Immaculate conception means that the blessed virgin Mary was free from the stain of "original sin" unlike the rest of humanity! That she was "free from sin" because she would give birth to Jesus" the Son of God. The scientific argument being that you could not bring something clean and pure and free of sin (Jesus - God) from a impure vessel!

One thing that helped immensely was the fact that Constantine adopted the Christian religion in order to increase his power hold over more people and land and he and the new Christians were very adept at torturing any who would not swing over to Chtristianity.

I've been there and almost did that. Then, I had my conversion experience. If anyone thinks there is no God, he or she needs only to open up his or her eyes and look around.
Praying gets you through when nothing else will. When I was pregnant with my youngest son, I went severely pre-ecclampsic. The doctors told my husband not to expect me to make it. However, the members of almost a dozen churches were praying for me. Praise, God! I'M STILL HERE!

He is one friend who will never abandon you no matter what. He was the 500th or so guy born to a 'virgin' and by that time the 'immaculate' conceptrion had become a very tired old yarn. The bible is ONLY a collection of creation myths and to be taken for only that - a book of myths.

@zideffil Immaculate conception does not mean "virgin birth" it is mostly a Catholic belief but I think the Eastern Orthodox church also believes this! Immaculate conception means that the blessed virgin Mary was free from the stain of "original sin" unlike the rest of humanity! That she was "free from sin" because she would give birth to Jesus" the Son of God. The scientific argument being that you could not bring something clean and pure and free of sin (Jesus - God) from a impure vessel!

@zideffil I was not born a christian! I read almost every book besides the Bible! I did not even read the Bible before 40 years old! Barbara Walker's book is "light fluff" aimed at the uneducated! It is not even good scholarly research! It is like a "pop culture view" of history and humanity! In my opinion, she is irresponsible and not a good journalist! I give Richard Dawkins much more credit! One thing that helped immensely was the fact that Constantine adopted the Christian religion in order to increase his power hold over more people and land and he and the new Christians were very adept at torturing any who would not swing over to Chtristianity.
