Why would you ever give a driver's license to illegal aliens?
Recently four children lost their lives in Minnesota to an illegal alien using a false identity. This illegal alien drove a van into the side of a school buss taking the lives of four young children. As seen on the news, this illegal has no remorse for her actions. As thousand of other illegal aliens, this one has taken a false identity to hide her true one.

Help the poor? The poor are poor because they deserve to be poor! Do you want the lazy people to take a free ride on the backs of the people who work the best jobs? Socialism is evil because it re-distributes wealth. I don't need to have several PoorMonkeys riding on my back!
Some of these people have neither the means nor the education to get a job to boost them into the middle class. The goal is to help be ABLE to achieve it, not do it for them. So get off your high horse, and don't judge people you don't know.
Help the poor? Apparently you don't read the bible. Do lazy people exist? Of course. But the vast majority of poor people are those with psychological problems, alcoholism, and other barriers that prevent them from climbing the ladder. It's a good thing most people don't think the same way you do. Get your master's degree in public policy and get the facts about poverty. Although I suppose you'd be too lazy to do that.
Your argument based on blind compassion and self-sacrifice to others lacks compassion. You've resorted to insulting me. You don't have the compassion to help anyone below you - because there IS no one below you. You just want a handout from the government, admit it!
My problem so far with all the dems is that they have this endless list of what the government should be doing for people. You need to realize that EVERYTHING you get as a service costs$. All the while $ is the real issue that affects everyone. A president can change far more by example than by law. If there is one task that stands head and shoulders above, it is reducing government. Min wage, HA, work for yourself, I do, and I dont make minimum wage.

This guy is scary. Yikes. He makes all the other phonies running on the right and left look like amatuers. In NC we called him Sen. Gone because once elected, he rarely cast votes. By far the most most slimy character in modern politics. What about Kerry's story of Edwards lying about his dead son---very creepy.
Separation of church and state will get him some votes, if he really believes in it. We are sick and tired of having religion stuffed in our faces in public and in every form of media. Religion belongs in YOUR church, synagogue, mosque, etc. and not in any public forum, area, or arena. It, like many other things which have become public, shouls be a private matter. You mention a safety net. Don't you mean, some form of welfare? I think welfare needs to be brought back. There are just some people who are not making it in the US, the jobs aren't there, the wages are depressed. Bring Welfare back. Rename it if you have to, just get it back.
I am in full support of John Edwards. He comes across as an honest person who has a sincere interest in improving our country. Now let's get the media to stop talking about Hillary (enough already!) and start talking about John Edwards and his willingness to DISCUSS the issues!!!!!!

I voted in 2004 for Bush because you were on the Kerry ticket. If you are on the 2008 Dem.ticket, I will vote Republican. I think you are a lying slimeball, a hypocrite and, of all Dem. and Rep. candidates, you would be the worst choice to lead this nation in time of war.
Wow, what do you base your statement on? I will be voting for John Edwards for president! I have no problem with his law background, and, even as a junior senator, Gore and Kerry considered him very highly (Gore almost asked him to be his vice president!). If you are a democrat, Edwards has a progressive agenda, is very smart, is an "indepent" democrat who dosn't accept money from lobbyists, and is the democrat most electable against replubicans. John Edwards 2008!
He's a phony. A man who has made millions in shady deals, one of which was being heavily involved in home foreclosures due to the mortgage rate fiasco that's still taking place. He is a weakling and the absolute WORST CHOICE to be Prez. of this nation. It was HE who cost John Kerry the 2004 election.
Great video helping me to understand what John Edwards stands are on the important issues that face America and I am glad that he is utilizing the internet to get that message out. Good luck John.
why dont any of these presidential hopefuls sound like they mean what they say? or more importantly why do they sound like sound bites or advertising? gravel and ron paul are talking about politics like they are profesers and everyone callls them crazy... shouldnt our leaders be at least that well educated? shouldnt we demand more depth to this debate?
Impeach. You break the law, you get impeached. It's the principle. It sends a message to all future corrupt politicians. Read the Constitution. Do it.
I think some of the people here don't understand, you're right about the impeachment... It would take so much effort and take so long to get him impeached that he'd only be impeached maybe a couple months if not weeks before a new president takes office.
Alot of wasted energy that could have been focused on getting our boys and girls out!
Nothing is going to change if dems take office. The only person who would make the changes needed is Ron Paul, but he's probably not going to get the nomination.
This is a perfect example of what I don't like about Edwards. He gives the typical politician's dodge. He says Bush deserves to be impeached but he doesn't think impeachment should not be done. He says congress should hold Bush accountable, but impeachment is the way the Constitution gives to hold him accountable. So sad that Edwards can't get himself out of the mold.
Sorry, I put a double negatrive in there. It should say "he doesn't think impeachment should be done." Just to add, the fact that this question got the highest number of votes should say something about how people feel, and denying impeachment just shows Edwards doesn't really care how the majority of people feel about this.
Edwards comes from a lower middle class family and made it big as trial lawyer. I really think he gives cares about the American people. He's apologized for the Iraq War vote and called it a mistake. Hillary has made threats of war with Iran.
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.
Mr. Edwards, you have my vote at this junture, but the military says it will take at least two years to pull forces out of Iraq (not 9-12 months), and even if we do so... where will that leave the Iraqi people!
the iraqi people are in a civil war... we are pretty much being a referee to them... let them go, we dont need involved. Iraq shouldnt even be the focus... what happened to Osama Bin Laden?
Too bad for the Iraqi people, they got screwed. And that two year figure is total bullshit. How long did it take the army to move from northern France to western Germany in WW2? And that was with inferior equipment and against 1000 times stronger resistance.
John Edwards, you were my main hope for the Democratic party. How do you hold Bush accountable without impeachment? Also, I didn't see you there when Feingold tried to censure the president. Your role and responsibility right now is to be a check and balance. If you won't do that, why would I believe you would make sure there is justice and lack of corruption under your administration?
John Edwards is no longer a senator, hasn't been since 2004. He wouldn't have been there for the censure nor does he currently have the power to "check and balance".
Oh, thanks for pointing that out, that certainly excuses him for not showing up at the last censure attempt. I still feel he is a strong leader in the party and has some power there, which he is exercising in the wrong direction when he says impeachment is not worth it, but this does temper my opinion.
I'm furious that this administration has not been held accountable, but I have to wonder how many more lives focus on impeachment would cost? This late in the game is it even feasible to do it before this administration would end? Perhaps Edwards is right and focus should be taken to end this war and get our guys out of there, judging by the pace of congress and it's neocons blocking any attempt at a meaningful change in Iraq. This doesn't mean that criminal charges couldn't be filed after 2008.
At, 'THIS TIME', it seems to me of the three, candidates, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, Mr. John Edwards, is the candidate that is trying to be the most available, communicative, and most importantly, open minded, and being open minded enough to changing a belief, if it becomes clear that it is correct to do so, irregardless of it potentially costing votes.
Hi John Edwards - how can universal health care be paid for by tax payers through fewer net dollars than is already paid privately? Thanks for your time and answer, good luck in the campaign!!
Jakeenk - government healthcare is cheaper because the government can haggle for better prices, doesn't make a profit and is spread across more people than any private company can sign up.
John, while I really do hope you win the candidacy. I also hope that somewhere along the way you begin to see the reality of what George Bush is doing. There will be no meaningful legislation as long as George Bush controls the veto. He honestly believes he has complete authority to do whatever he wants regardless of what congress or anyone else says. Think real hard about what it means when a man sitting in the White House uses the term 'Unitary Executive'.
I own two companies and as this piece of shit never has held a real job, if he or she did, it would never talk about nonsense like 9.00 an hour minim um wage. Study macro-economics then come talk to me...I own a home in Raleigh, NC where I spend 6 months every year, this bitch had an approval rating at 18% and would have lost his re election bid..he/she is a joke..don't fool yourself
Disappointed that you don't see the BEST way to get change SOONER on all the things you mention like the war and healthcare is to IMPEACH BUSH and get him out of there! He will veto anything meaningful.
The simple maximum of RIGHT AND WRONG. His family has made decisions against the interests of the country to line their pocket via coinvestment deals with foreign investors -That's treason - not just misdemeanors or even crimes.
see clicktoimpeachbush dot org to see for yourself
John Edwards, your sheep skin is starting to come off. It's only a matter of time before your, and the other members of the CFR, globalist agenda is toppled down.
"The main purpose of the Council on Foreign Relations is promoting the disarmament of U.S. sovereignty and national independence and submergence into an all powerful, one world government." -- Admiral Chester Ward, former CFR member and Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Navy.
You've got my vote! However, I'm discouraged at how you are doing in the polls. I really want you to win so hopefully you can do what you need to do to win. I've got my fingers crossed!
You have my vote. You have been on the right side of important and difficult issues for many years, so I'm trusting you to keep fighting the good fight.
i think it's awesome to see a presidential hopeful sit down and just talk about things that people are really wanting to know. makes the president seem more human and more part of this global community we so deperately need to form.
jk, if you are keeping tabs on this, three thumbs up!
You crave what every other Politian craves; power. You would do anything to gain that power. That makes you a mental defective. The people who might be qualified to lead this nation are those who would not want the job. Only slimy, lying maggots like you run for president. Don't imagine that I am a Republican they are as detestable as Democrats.
John Edwards: "I think George Bush has done, 'ILLEGAL THINGS', 'I think he has, 'EXCEEDED HIS AUTHORITY', and SPECIFICALLY in the case of SPYING on the AMERICAN PEOPLE, in CLEAR VIOLATION OF THE LAW" (Not spend our energy on Impeachment proceedings)? THIS IS THE PRESIDENCY OF AMERICA! Placation, 'Spin' verbiage, a lack of energy, time or bla bla bla, is not accepted. History will show? What Really Matters? You Choose.
John, if we don't take the time to defend the Constitution against the precedent being set by Bush and Cheney and their power-grabs, lies and clear violations of the Constitution, then why bother even having a Constitution? Don't we need to pursue impeachment on principal alone if we are going to preserve our Democracy for the future and to protect against future abuses?
Ah, but the next question, unasked, is would an Edwards administration pursue criminal charges against Bush/Cheney once they are out of office. A lot less distracting for the Congress, and probably a better way to show the world that no American is above the law.
oh wait, you left out a "SUCCESSFUL" tort lawyer. and the true LEECHES OF CAPITALISM are the Washington SOB's, enablers, and enabled who are stealing U.S. tax dollars in no bid contracts, starting a war simply for oil profits, profiteering, and faulty the Neocon logic of the "New American Century."
I'm on YouTube a lot and I don't know who lonelygirl15 is so I would wager you are right, at least 95% of Americans don't know what that is. I've seen reference to her on YouTube but those aren't the kinds of videos I check out so I never bothered. Anyway, I think Edwards is the real deal and I really hope he is our next president.
Hi, 'WayOver, please read the different text uploads I have placed here, that may help you as you have requested of me to understand why Impeachment of George W. Bush is demanded.
Then just do your own opened eyes research into this, Bush Iraq War.
This is a way to understand why, for so many reasons, Impeachment of George W. Bush should happen.
To: WayOver - "War in Iraq-What a mess; a sad, sad, mess. We have to find and kill Bin Laden at all cost" - - Please do not connect the two things. It has to do with intellectual discourse honesty. - Bin Laden and or 9.11, has nothing to do with Iraq Weakness? Weakness is not overcome by killing - Be concerned with Justice, vis-à-vis, a trial by a jury of your peers, as per American Law. That is the strength of America. To not, have that, is weakness!
Stolen election-I think this is a high priority for the new Pres. I'm sick of hearing about the problems year after year and nothing being done. We need to get people out to vote (a paid day off; paid only by voting, would most likely do the trick). Lose the electoral college. It's archaic. Go to a popular vote. Have the federal government control the voting machines and procedures.
Farmers-Get rid of NAFTA. Also, the corporations in this country keep getting bigger and the small business seems to be disappearing.
This past couple years, housing, utilities, food, and health costs have gone through the roof while wages have remained the same, (at least in our household). This is as big a concern to me as the war, healthcare, immigration, etc. I fear what the future may bring.
I agree with your proposal but would add one thing. Any illegal, or illegal who obtained citizenship, who commits a felony within 5 years of citizenship, would be deported.
War in Iraq-What a mess; a sad, sad, mess. We have to find and kill Bin Laden at all cost. We can't allow an attack against the U.S. to escape retribution.
To: WayOver - "War in Iraq-What a mess; a sad, sad, mess. We have to find and kill Bin Laden at all cost" - Please do not conect to two things It has to do with intellectual discourse honesty. - Bin Laden and or 9.11, has nothing to do with Iraq. - Impeach -
Oh, don't mistake me. I am well aware that we are talking two completely different things. I guess I didn't word this clearly. I want out of Iraq, BUT, we need to find and kill Bin Laden. Otherwise, I feel that we are leaving ourselves vulnerable to looking weak.
John Edwards, this is your Post-Debate Webcast, I would, hope/believe/think, you personally would look at the responses for this that you personally did.
I think you know, that Impeachment should happen, I hope you have the heart to change, and pursue seeing that Impeachment takes place, for the spirit that is America, the World, but most importantly, We the People.
I would like to see him impeached as well. But, at this point, I just want rid of him. I would, however, be interested in hearing your views on this and what makes you feel so strongly about it. It may help me understand why it is so important. Thanks.
John Edwards as one that purports to be a representative of, by, and for the People, not to mention your desire to be the President of, 'America', I believe, the Constitution, subversion of the rule of law, and lives lost in the, Bush Iraq War, call for you Sir, (John Edwards), to at least pursue seeing that Impeachment takes place, for the sake of all that is Holy!
knowledgeofall: "for the sake of all that is Holy"? Please. Bush should be impeached but, he is such a bumbling fool. . . I just don't think it is worth our time and money. At this point, the only advantage will be to his legacy and that's already in the toilet.
wayover - impeachment is critical. bush may not be worth it, but we are at a crossroads. not impeaching will set a horrible precedent. executive abuse of power will become more common in the future if we dont stop it now, formally, with an impeachment. sign the petition, and harass your congressman. its worth the time and money. :)
Immigration-I think the only solution to illegals coming in from Mexico is to take Mexico on a human rights issue and incorporate it into the U.S. My husband said we should just buy it. There's a reason we are getting this great influx. As a compassionate nation, we can't just turn our backs.
Women's issues-I don't see Hillary as the "spokesperson" for women. I would like to see a woman Pres. in my lifetime, but at the expense of the country. She would have to be the BEST candidate.
Taxes-I agree with you, above all, on how we need to restructure the tax code. Bush never should've cut taxes. But then he, . . . oh, lets just leave it at that.
Outsourcing jobs-Can we undo NAFTA? We are feeling that "giant sucking sound" that Perot warned us about.
On insurance and drug companies-This comes up EVERY election. Why can't we put an end to it?
College for everyone-You had one of the most unique solutions to this in your last campaign for Pres. When a child is born, the gov puts $500 in an account for use for school etc. Brilliant! As a tax payer, I would not have a problem with that.
Help the poor. Dump a few million in my paypal account John. Just so you won't be accused of buying a vote, I will simply say very nice things about you and vote for a Republican. Then your covered.
I doubt I'll vote for John...but I definitely appreciate his coming on here and answering the questions many of us wanted answered. You're ok in my book...
I agree with learning English, but that and a fine and you become a citizen? No. There is already a pathway for citizenship here. There are laws on the books. Enforce them. Stop arresting our border control officers for doing their job. I live in Florida and 27 people just "landed" from Cuba the other day and they get signed up immediately to receive all public funding. How about sending them home?
Ok, so what I got from this was: more government, forget everything we've achieved over seas, impeach a president (on what charges? Wire-tapping was approved by the Court), and inflate the American dollar even more. Great stuff. Although, I do like his views on the border situation.
John Edwards is a middle-class American who made good by fighting for the rights of other middle-class Americans against wealthy corporations. Duh. What's not to support? John is my main man. I trust him to do the job!!!!!
He's been fighting for the middle man his entire life. We live in AMERICA with CAPITALISM where if you work hard and are successful you GET LAVISH THINGS. Only a socialist would criticize a multi-millionaire for having a nice house.
Well, you have a faulty logic. You don't have to be a middle class to understand the plight of middle class. I am a midlle class person, but I understand the plight of the poor people, how they have been failed by the government. John Edwards does not claim he's a middle class. What he claims is he knows and understands what the poor and middle classes are going through.
I was responding to AJJax501, who stated, "John Edwards is a middle-class American [...]." I certainly appreciate that one can understand the plight of others.
OMG. this is the most gorgeous hair ever. How you keep it at your age.?

Impeach. You break the law, you get impeached. It's the principle. It sends a message to all future corrupt politicians. Read the Constitution. Do it.
smlefo 4 years ago
I think some of the people here don't understand, you're right about the impeachment... It would take so much effort and take so long to get him impeached that he'd only be impeached maybe a couple months if not weeks before a new president takes office.
Alot of wasted energy that could have been focused on getting our boys and girls out!

comicfl 4 years ago
This is a perfect example of what I don't like about Edwards. He gives the typical politician's dodge. He says Bush deserves to be impeached but he doesn't think impeachment should not be done. He says congress should hold Bush accountable, but impeachment is the way the Constitution gives to hold him accountable. So sad that Edwards can't get himself out of the mold.
DonkeyofHeaven 4 years ago
Sorry, I put a double negatrive in there. It should say "he doesn't think impeachment should be done." Just to add, the fact that this question got the highest number of votes should say something about how people feel, and denying impeachment just shows Edwards doesn't really care how the majority of people feel about this.

TheGiantRobot 4 years ago
John Edwards is no longer a senator, hasn't been since 2004. He wouldn't have been there for the censure nor does he currently have the power to "check and balance".
nowandzenbathworks 4 years ago 2
Oh, thanks for pointing that out, that certainly excuses him for not showing up at the last censure attempt. I still feel he is a strong leader in the party and has some power there, which he is exercising in the wrong direction when he says impeachment is not worth it, but this does temper my opinion.
TheGiantRobot 4 years ago
I'm furious that this administration has not been held accountable, but I have to wonder how many more lives focus on impeachment would cost? This late in the game is it even feasible to do it before this administration would end? Perhaps Edwards is right and focus should be taken to end this war and get our guys out of there, judging by the pace of congress and it's neocons blocking any attempt at a meaningful change in Iraq. This doesn't mean that criminal charges couldn't be filed after 2008.
nowandzenbathworks 4 years ago
Senator Edwards, will you support a tax proposal that is before the Senate and provides the following benefits:
- it's very progressive
- those up to the poverty level are free of all federal taxation due to rebates up to the poverty level for all households
- all savings are un-taxed - rewarding everyone for saving
- recycling and buying used are encouraged (not taxed)
Simply put - will you support the FairTax, as it is written?

John, while I really do hope you win the candidacy. I also hope that somewhere along the way you begin to see the reality of what George Bush is doing. There will be no meaningful legislation as long as George Bush controls the veto. John, if we don't take the time to defend the Constitution against the precedent being set by Bush and Cheney and their power-grabs, lies and clear violations of the Constitution, then why bother even having a Constitution? Ah, but the next question, unasked, is would an Edwards administration pursue criminal charges against Bush/Cheney once they are out of office. A lot less distracting for the Congress, and probably a better way to show the world that no American is above the law.
