@Arbiter2005 As someone who uses multiple Emulator Front Ends (Maximus Arcade, HyperSpin, GameEx etc...) I agree that GameEx doesn't have the arcade feel that HyperSpin has, but I wouldn't say HS "Shits on" GameEx. GameEx has loads of features that HyperSpin doesn't have and will never have. Visually HS is Great, but Feature wise it's not very special and also has a bit of a learning curve to other FE's.
It all comes down to what one is looking for in a Front End, which is why I use several :)
so i downloaded this but i got like a gazillion games for MAME in the library but none of them work buy i have some roms already so how do i import them so i can play games cuz i have like literally over 9000 NES games i want to play.
I have mame32,mamefx,mameUI,they all work fine but I can't get GameEx to work. I keep getting errors. I have all the rom dvd's and video dvd's for mame. can you help me because I like to use GameEx as my front-end. What am I doing wrong?
when you install GameEx it will ask you if what emulators you want. Choose mame32, and what other you want. It will make a folder called Emulators. open it and go to mame32. then carry over you roms to the rom folder there. Do this with the snals and art and so on.
Incito, after watching your video of GameEX, I decided which was a pretty quick decision to grab that front-end as well even got the registration key by way of the donation. I am having serious trouble getting emus and roms on there, could you help me out ..like from scratch.
nice video man but i have a question im a newbie in this but i downloaded gam ex and i already have mame and project 64 but when i load game ex my mame games dont come up and for the n 64 games i do get the list but when it starts i get a black screen but i do get the sound and use the controller so can anyone give me a hand with this? thanks
Great video! I'm building a MAME machine now and have been experimenting with GameEx. The only issue is that on my machine the menu's transition slowly. I'm running a 2Ghz machine with 768M ram. what are the specs for the machine you are running on. I've not contributed to the developer yet, but will that speed the app up (beyond the nag screen)? Thanks.
I use GameEX and it is the best gaming front end I've ever seen. I highly suggest paying for the registration too. It gives you extra abilities like being able to watch DVDs, watch DVD rips from your hard drive, a cool jukebox feature, and video viewer. I made an HTPC so I can play all my games, listen to all my mp3s, and watch my hundreds of tv episodes and movies all from one box. A+++
??? If you mena the preview option that shows the game in action when you higlight it; you have to creat a MAME movie. Do this by going to all progams>gameex (drop down menu will show)> mame movie. This maks all game you have into an AVI movie. I have 1000+ games so that = 5 gig disk space.
SWEET! I almost chose that theme. I toggle between the "red alpha" and "next gen". i would like to see a vid on the theme...maybe I'll switch. You should also chack out mameaddicts[dot]com.
What i did was put it in the start up folder by draging the gameex.exe into the start button/all programs/startup. Then when I turn on my PC, the GameEx starts on its own.
My bad, I don't know why but it didn't start showing up till recently, well I can deal with it. I mean , Tom Spiers work hard to create this, and I will make a donation for his efforts.
what if you want to put this in a store and make money how do u limit access

HPER Spin PC Hell yeah finally

Upon read some of the comments, they just ignored the fact that you told them the themes are CUSTOMIZABLE!
Mine doesn't look 'windowsy' at all, it ROCKS!! GameEx rules. Hyperspin is too clunky and jumbled, and it's all about the GAMES not the Front End.

it's too windowsie, not very arcadish

There are many themes you can install easily that look more arcade style. this is just the default look. Google gameex themes

I paid the 25 buck to get a registered version. Free version is good, but registered version has too many extras I couldn't pass up.

I recently installed GameEx, and I love it. I like that MAME intro video, do you have any idea where I can find it?
booteeee 3 years ago
I am going to put that and other intro vids on mameaddicts[dot]com. Also, mameaddicts now has a forum! look for the vids there this weekend.
