  • This is heart-pounding to watch! Love it!

  • were are you guyssailing im in stockton ca and when we are in a wind storm we dont have to worry about big waves it just high wind and no surf

  • i just realized how much it would suck if you fell off your sailboat but it kept going... take awhile to find it

  • I hate stereotypes, who told me "Sailing is Boring sport". It isn't true!

  • Totally cool!!

  • Epic! I'm into windsurfing, but I'm well aware that sailing is harder to do when the wind picks up.

  • 1:57 DEATH ROLL!

  • Holy God is that a full rig?

  • OMG THAT LOOKS AMAZING :D

  • if i'll meet a person who say sailing isn't a sport or it's boring i will show him this video

  • @catwalker96 many people say the same to me

  • Perfect song.

  • Lasers \m/

  • i'm not much of a sailor, but i've sailed on bigger boats and catamarans, lots of different kinds, nothing i mean nothing is more exciting than a laser sailed well in a big blow!!!!

  • you were brave going for a gybe in that wheather :)

  • Laser is the best sailing class on the world:D

  • wat song is tha t

  • @EoghanB5386 Blur- Woo Hoo

  • @brammerface its called song 2 not woo hoo dumbass

  • @rush12123 And I am getting crap from someone who has Dragon Slayer and Lady Gaga as their favorite videos??

  • @EoghanB5386 its called blur-song 2

  • You guys are pretty fly to handle a full rig in 40. I tried it and flipped super a lot of times and almost ran out of mojo quite far out.

  • and I thought my winds were fun......This looks killer!

  • I had similar conditions a few days ago, only 18- 22/23 knts though. Awesome fun even when I did bowl over a few times

  • anyone know how a laser mast would end up getting raked foward???? the one that came with my boat came bent foward and i cant seem to figure out how that happened.....

  • They should put a trap rig on lasers for wind like this.

  • yeah i love sailing too becuse this boat is so awesom=3

  • i love sailing

  • Nice :O

  • fucking death roll!!!!!!! i am sooooo jealous!!!!!!!!!! u guys r really good!!!

  • @BACONATORIZATION i did that last week and the week before too.... great stuff

  • I sailed lasers all day long every day this week and for the rest of the week

    laser FTW

  • Awesome!!!!! Wish I was sailing.

  • quite windy :-) great sailing

  • where was this?

doesn't look like 35 knots btw.

  • @105inspector Agreed. It's a good breeze, but not 35-40.

  • @505KP thats easily 30 knots man....

  • @biosSQStacular Well "man", I would give you force 6, gusting into 7, but not 8. It's still windy though, and looks like a whole lot of fun.

  • @505KP at 1:38, there are at least 30 knots if not more

  • ive been in hevy wind before, bu wow thats fast. im impresed. expecialy when he goes downwind. that can be a bitch in hevy wind sometimes. good job

  • Holy S%*#, that is awesome!!!! I only had my first lazer lesson yesterday, I only wish I could sail like that.

  • 1:06 when you see the end of the boom in the water, that is the moment when you go 'FUCK YEAHHHHH'

  • this gives me wood

  • Esse laser é um raio, raio laser!

  • I`ve seen olympics training here and the broke their masts all at the same time doing just this.

  • why BAR ? :)

  • omfg i wish i was there!

  • I miss you my past life!!! My life was - yacht and hard wind in my sail... -_-

  • Oooh I left half of my heart with it... -_-..

  • Sailing in these conditions is full of adrenaline keep up .! :)

  • this song is THE song for sailing above 18 knots :}

  • A flat boat is a fast boat

  • muito massa quero chegar la , moro numa cidade que tem um marzão e muito vento não tem niguem que ande em alto mar ,começei a andar na lagoa estou aprendendo.

  • 49ers would kill dere sailors in dis wind nd waves

  • Coming from a 9er sailor, sailing a laser is alot've fun in wind and waves, i miss it.

  • This is the best video of all time. All laserers should agree he's reached hull speed!!!!!

  • @hamfootyman broad reaching mostly. Otherwise they'd be rolling a lot more. :)

  • nice speed and technique but isn't that running???

  • nice speed and technique but isn't that running???

  • This is how laser should be sailied

  • so much fun doing downwind/reaching in heavy wind. until the boat does a death roll and you get thrown out. 4.7 sail all the way!

  • downwind is the real shit in extreme wind cond. hard to release your muscles for a sec.

  • downwind is the real shit in extreme wind cond. hard to release your muscles for a sec.

  • Good seamanship by this solo sailer!

  • A Laser is a hot responsive boat. I sailed one and a Lightning and a Sunfish before I started Windsurfing at the age of 14. This video was fun to watch.

  • @collyflower74 - they were reaching, so they were up only a bit. It's a bit hard to see though. It's also useful if you're expecting to capsize and need it to stand on. ;)

Great video by the way. Gives me kicks just watching it - and reminds me that it's been much too long since I've been out there myself.

  • Does anybody know why they have the dagger boards down? Is it to make it more stable in these waves? Amazing stuff by the way. I used to sail a laser and they are amazing in big winds!!

  • @collyflower74 Yes, usually you raise them downwind, but it gets more unstable; so with those windo/wave conditions it will be a little bit stupid to do so.

  • Life is a reach - and then you jibe!

     Fab sailing, thank you

  • sailing is a life! <3

  • Fantastic conditions! We paddle surfskis..this would have been a dream stretch to paddle! Where is it?

  • I'm listening to it now and it works. Actually, almost as good as watching Mark Wahlberg on the Philadelphia Special Teams unit!

  • DUDE FROM IRIE!! You need to add Ted Nugent's Stranglehold to this clip!

    Maloney

(Miss Ireland-actually only been there once but YES!) from the USA.

  • I don't why more people don't sail. It can be easy or wild but always fun.

  • @pbr2424 I'm a sailing instructor and where I live people tend to think that sailing is for up-class people, despite you can get classes for 50euros a month (during weekends all the year) and get a nice equipment (cold weather clothes and neoprene) for less than 80 euros. So no one gets into this sport that indeed it's for everyone, my "students" age go from 30 -the youngest- to 58 -the oldest-, as I work with the "grown up". We have also groups of children. Everyone can enjoy it.

  • @pbr2424 better a bad day on the water than a good day in the office!

  • @pbr2424 people dont sail because they have never been introduced to it. ive brought many friends on my boat and they all loved it. it just needs spread.

  • @pbr2424 i begun with optimist when i was young...andi regret to stop before going to lazers....I REGRET it really..greetings from greece.....

  • @pbr2424

I think a lot of people think sailing has to be expensive.

I tell friends it can be done for free (as crew on big boats)

if a person has a good attitude and a desire to learn it is easy to find a ride.

  • @pbr2424 lies its can be easy = boring or wild = epic :P

  • @pbr2424 Because their too lazy.

  • @pbr2424 because your body is dying 3 days after sailing in these conditions for 1 hour

  • thats the stuff..........!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • very cool and extreme

  • want wonw ?lern to sail :D

  • i want a laser!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I really need to go extreme with my laser sailing.

  • Lol you dont get this kind of winds n waves in singapore. I admire their guts to sail in such conditions hahas

  • haha, now go for a gybe!

  • absolutely awesome. this is why i wanted a laser, but i couldnt afford one so i got a cat instead... il still have great fun though

  • @CAMNZ117 Lasers look cool, but are really unstable in the hands of other than experts. A Cat is a really fun boat, and easy to handle, fast as hell and very forgiving. I loved my Hobi. Rsvp. How do you like yours? regards, Apo.

  • @apoypto havent had it out in any wild weather yet, but i am pretty keen to take it out in a bit of wind

  • @CAMNZ117 Is it a Hobie?

  • @apoypto nope. its a small paper tiger

  • @CAMNZ117 I am not familiar with the class, so i googled it. It looks like really a fun ride, 14 ft approx with a wide beam & about 100 sq ft. sail should go like a real delight. It would leave a laser behind in a light breeze. And stay upright I might add, in a fresh wind. GOOD CHOICE. Have lots of fun. Regards Apo.

  • @CAMNZ117 I hope you're not a big guy then, PT's are best for around 70-75kgs. and watch out for the mast downwind in a blow, they break lots. I went through a few of them when I was racing.

  • holy crap!!! i think i'd be scraed shitless!

  • where abouts is this?

  • wowowww great!!! i respect you!

  • bar whre are you sailing?

  • He´ll hopefully find a sponsor for a new mast!

    lol

  • you're weird if you think that 25knots is extreme, that's when it gets to be fun

  • @tatsuko1 for laser sailing 25 knots is extreme if in the ocean or large lake because of the huge waves, for wind surfers, large sloops, etc., yes 25 knots is ideal.

  • You can - plenty of waterproof sets for ipod.

  • @ 1:29.... look behind- STOKED

  • Laser = mad dash to safety

    Windsurfer = woohoo!

  • So cool !!!

    Saludos desde América del Sur

  • hold on there buddy i can tell you 4sure that it was no ware close to 40knots. Your mast would snap of at around 30knots waves were not that big man

  • dude that is sum extreme surfing like rite at the beginning there you were on that wave for like 20 seconds what do you think was ur highspeed?

  • thats the stuff i dream about!!

  • i have only sailied my topper in that wind and it was awsome so that must be amazing in a lazer

  • Cool video

  • thats sick...i remember going out in my 4.7 and a shit boat.....we went out it was light..we went around the point. the then a storm came through blowing constant 30 with 35 gusts..and there was this one wave..i got it went down it.. i have to sheet in to almost going up wind...then the ruder went funny and i slowed down..sheeted out... then a huge gust strikes.my vang snapps and on impact my hull cracks.and mast in 2 places.that was.scary.and while righting the boat i noticed my ruder snapped.

  • how much do boats like that cost?

  • @Pier2pie bran new about 4 and half grand for top spec

  • @Pier2pie a typical laser (new) is about $5,000, but you can pick 1 up used w/ a trailer in the range of 4 1/2 grand, i got mine last year and its an amazing boat, theres tons of races all around the world for them. bottem line: great investment

  • Hey dude you rock ;)

  • Legend!!!

  • Interesting to see the daggerboard all the way down.

  • love it!! I miss sailing so much :(

  • BARSAILOR -

yeah but if ur already in a 4.7..

and if u wrap it araound the mast , u cant use the downhaul and ur sail would probably fall off-cheers mate =)

  • that lasers CRUISIN

  • he s bookin it

  • Seewage: you can reef the sail by wrapping it around the mast, but a better idea is to get a smaller rig (Radial, 4.7). Harnesses are not necessary, the boat will capsize without you. Just don't fall out, that's what the strap is for. Shit happens, but being tied to the boat is not a good idea.

  • @BARSailor very true...

mind you (and i'm pretty sure i'm not alone with this), sailing upwind in stronger winds i have sometimes wished for a trapeze :P

  • @BARSailor

I once partially went over backwards with my foot stuck under the hiking strap...

got dragged with my head underwater for a few seconds - it was pretty

exciting (it was at least 20 years ago, and I still remember a bit about it)

  • I have two questions for you guys if that's okay. I'm a new sailor so I wonder 1) if you can reef that laser's sail and 2) is it reasonable or possible to get a harness for the laser? I was thinking that if you fell overboard that the boat might just keep on sailing. Or maybe it would capsize without your weight?

  • @seewaage

if u aint in the boat then it WILL go over. and in such a fast boat, being strapped to it will probs leave u in a bad situation.

i know the full rigs can be reefed, however it really messes up the sail shape, getting a 4.7 or a radial for strong winds would probs be a good idea. although they need to have a different shaped bottom mast. (its easier to just save cash and reef the big sail, thats what i do.)

  • @seewaage Don't tie yourself in, and i'm not sure what kind of harness you could buy to tie yourself in. the boat would either capsize or turn up into irons without you in it.

  • This is kick ass dude. I love it.

  • so tired of sail class bigotry. there is no ultimate boat. only the boat best adapted for the given conditions. at an even finer level, the best boat for a given point of sail. sail a hiking dinghy in a flat water harbour and you'll be beaten by skiffs and cats. sail in big chop and swell and skiffs with wings will catch and cats will pitchpole. sail a formula class windsurfer in under 8 knots and you might lose a race to an Optimist. Should I go on?

  • skiff sailing is RETARDED

laser is fun, takes skill, and is a powerhouse

skiff= people who cant sail lasers

  • @13macbookPRO

Skiffs take a lot more effort to sail than the laser and are more difficult to perfect.

  • WOW!!! It takes quite a lot of wind to nosedive a Laser!!

    lol =P

  • YEEEEAAAH !

  • yeeaaah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • rippin it!!!

    looks sick!

  • my brother is in that video its in cork dont relplay

  • god that looks fun=D=D

  • that is amazing

    wish i can do that

    Still learning (:

  • 最初の沈くらいの風はベアできなくなってくる

  • song 2 by blur

Being a skiff sailor, lasers aren't what you'd expect to put under the title extreme but that looks like a hell of alot of fun.

  • @julestoll

I agree about the laser not being extreme in relation to a skiff. However, I feel like skiff sailing is a bit harder to get into. So for the 'normal' sailor, a laser is our best bet on extreme. ;)

  • In this wheater is everty surfing boot fast, skiff are fast in 20 - 25 knots of wind, in this wheater they make nosedive's

  • so fukin fun

  • Once I saw Lasers under the heading or "Extreme reaching", I knew i'd see some major death rollin.

  • nice wis i was in my CII

  • Awsome. gotta get de boat back in de water

  • Crazy fun

  • 1:55 Nosedive :P

  • nice :)

this is why sailing is the BEST part of my life :D

  • Great Video, Also What Song? Keep it up

  • I wish i could go that fast in my sabot

  • dude thats sweet!

    I sail laser!

Yea the other day it was gusting 30 (23-25 steady)

So good to be on the waves a. When I was planing, I jumped like a wave every 3 seconds. Soo intense!

    Keep up the good sailing!

    Nice vid btw

  • it'd be so cool if we could listen to music while sailing..

  • @winnerbaby44 you can they make water proof headphones and cases for Ipods. H2OAudio....check it out.

  • @winnerbaby44

there is a mp3 player which is water proof. i got one and its vvveeerrryyy relaxing.
