Kobe's the closest thing this generation will ever see next to MJ,P.S I grew up on the MJ era and the way MJ brings it night in and night out, Kobe does it too today.
of course Kobe does the same fadeaway. its a damn good shot, why not have it in your arsenal? Kobe will be the first to tell you that he's learned so much from watching MJ, West, Wilkins, Magic but probably most importantly: from Baylor. Baylor was the first great scorer who reinvented so much and all the players that came after him learned from him.
the Blazers win a championship for their city, Chris Webber and Steve Nash get a ring, the Celtics establish themselves as a probable dynasty late 2000s. And the man you all point to get the credit, Kobe. He doesn't deserve this amount of praise or acknowledgment because he simply didn't earn it, and nor did his team, let's call a spadea spade. To all Kobe and Laker fans, ppl want to give Kobe credit as no.1 or 2 player ever,
finals game. Kobe and the Lakers were absolute bullies for half of the last decade, that and that alone is why they were hated, not because they were great. Kobe had been part of teams that relished in dishonorable play that propelled them to three undeserving championships (2000, 2002, 2010), from the flops, missed calls, the U can't touch any Laker policy, all part of corrupt referee scandals. They have taken away fans' opportunities to witness greatness in the form of others, to see
was ever this arrogant. And plenty more examples people can name, 2010 game 6 against PHX he hit that 3 end of the game and patted the coach on his side and did the airplane move, Jordan only did shyt like that when he faced rivals, he never stirred up taunts towards teams unless he felt provoked or he got wrapped up in heated competition. Kobe always get the big head playing good, but average teams. Against his greatest foes, he never dominated a series, and he never dominated a single
@Exile101882 phoenix wasnt average that year. and, phoenix has always been a rival for kobe. phoenix has probably been kobe's biggest rival. plus, he never patted alvin gentry. alvin gentry glanced at him after he hit the shot and chuckled, kobe stared back, smiled, and kobe proceeded to do the airplane move.
look at what he said in the playoffs- first he was like, "we'll come out strong in game 2 and we'll win, I'm not worried," then after game 2, "I don' t get it, what's everybody trippin' about? It's just one game, we're only down 0-2, we'll come back," the after being down 0-3, "Well uh, uh... uh...uhm, look, I may sound crazy fr dis, but I still like our chances and we'll steal the next game, take it back to LA, and take the series." Sorry, but you can't name another NBA great that
@SidBuford1414 I see you like to follow my comments on different posts, but if you followed some others, then you will have seen me state several times that Kobe is a better athlete than Jordan, and some ways better skilled. MJ put him in the top 10, I put him in the top 2. Mike is #1, Kobe some distance behind, and whoever #3 is, is not even close to these two. Jordan AND many others had/have cocky ass swaggers about them, but Kobe is above and beyond the rest, he is. I, mean,
@woodypop99 Nice try but no. All of the Bulls' rivals were: (u ready?) the late 80s/early 90s Pistons, 90s Knicks, early 90s Cavs, 90s Pacers, 95 & 96 Magic, 90s and Lebron's Heat, and late 2000s Celtics. Sorry, didn't see LA on the list,so there's no reason for Bulls and MJ fans to hate Kobe, we just don't take kindly to an overrrated, arrogant player who copies the greatest ever, who was Chicago's own, but yet owns up like he originated the tongue, swagger, and the fadeaway..
the comments are pissing me jordan has hes own ERA the experience the improve defense strategies techniques , so right now kobe is the greatest player right now
See how many people respect Kobe? Let me rephrase that, you see how many 'professionals' respect Kobe? While the rest of you sit behind a computer screen hating away and not appreciating just because you don't like the guy or you favorite another player. The NBA respects Kobe and that's what matters. Not some peoples' hating on the net so I don't even why you guys bother.
@peterdabest94 Of course professionals are going to SAY they respect Kobe. What do you expect them to say publicly that they don't like him? No one's going to say they hate another player, their reputation would be affected if they said something like that.
In the words of phil jackson. Michael Jordan is the best post up player in history. That includes big guys that only play with their backs to the basket. Jordan absolutly perfected the triple threat position which is why he was the greatest offensive player to ever play.
@kingfalcon1423 the fuck are you talking about? do you watch basketball? kobe's been able to score at least 28 without breaking a sweat. id like you to give me one year when kobe wasn't able to dominate.
Can you really say Kobe copied Jordan since Kobe did have that move since he was in the NBA. And can you really say no one did that fade away before Jordan?
@wilsonsmanz the kobe fadeaway is a patented JORDAN move & "nobody does a fadeaway like that" except MJ. therefore it is his shot and YES... kobe COPIED JORDAN and NO... kobe never had a fadeaway J as a rookie, he might have made some fadeaway's but it's always been pattern to MJ's. if it bother's u so much when people say that kobe immitated the move then show us or at least give us a name of a specific player or player's before MJ's era that used "exactly" the same move... goodluck to that!
lol kobe is sick, but the lakers lost to the suns after having a 3-1 series lead haahhahaha. no other superstar there with him like gasol or shaq, mj by himself took the bulls to the eastern conference finals in 88.
MJ did event that fadeaway - totally. So KB did copy MJ's fadeaway. Why the hell wouldn't he? He would have been a fool not to. Name somebody else who shots a fadeaway like that. (If you say Lebron - you'd be only 3 quarters right. if you know what i mean.)
Both are generally fadeaways but in MJ's fadeaway the ball is released lately while in Kobe's fadeaway the player leans his body more. Nowitzki does steps back and leans.
Jordan just made fade awys famous, but honestly it was not his move like the 'Skyhook' of Kareem. Big O, Jerry West and some other guys do this move also. Stop comparing, even Jordan already said can't compare players of different eras.
Everyone has done a hook shot or fadeaway, but there a few greats that have a certain signature move where it's their go-to move, and the fadeaway was MJ's bread and butter especially during the later stages of his career just like how the skyhook was for Kareem
Look at the off-hand and the shooting hand, Kobe copied the form itself that's why they're likely identical compared to the rest of the league, every player has their own jump-shot form, but of course the Master and the apprentice's form will always looks the same
You guys do know Kobe asked jordan about his fade away right all Kobe did was learn to perfect it like Jordan got moves and learned from Julius Erving. you learn from other players its not like you pull shit out of thin air somewhere somehow someone will have the same stroke or release and form no one is original in the way its theirs they make it to their liking and show something different once in a while.
what the fuck? dude im a big michael jordan fan but i gotta admit kobe is a better post shooter, he's not copying anyone. they just happen to be two of the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball
Saying Kobe is a better post-shooter than Jordan shows how stupid your ass is, I bet your ass you aren't even over the age of 20, Jordan's post-up fadeaway shot + footwork maneuver was his bread and butter and helped him average 30+ and 50%, let me know when Kobe can primarily use that to average 34+ in playoffs career and come talk to me, its like kids like you these days have only watched the MJ dunk highlights and base your idiotic claims on it, watch REAL GAMES
@Hawkhunter07 Objectively comparing Jordan and Bryant is difficult, both because of the passion of fans and because they didn't play in identical conditions. Jordan was very good with his back to the basket, and he made great use of that ability to negate the lost athleticism he suffered with age. Definitely posted up more than Bryant. But he also had the luxury of being able to do that because taking post touches away from Luc Longley is no big deal. Taking them from Gasol/Shaq is stupid.
Kobe have admitted that you learned 90% of his game from MJ, and when he came into the league he asked MJ how to post-up for that fadeaway shot, if you want a link to any of these I'll link you it, but don't be stupid saying Kobe is a better post-shooter, Kobe has not reached the consistency shooting that mid-range fadeaway the way MJ did, go to any intelligent basketball forum or ask any NBA stars, they'll laugh at your ass for that
@Hawkhunter07 im just saying what phil jackson said. im not forming any opinions. you're the one trying to insult me for no reason. michael jordan is the best to ever play. i've been watching jordan play since i was 3, and he is one of my two favorite players. like i said, im not trying to throw out bold statements. and seriously man, im not gonna try to argue with u anymore, this is clearly what you live for
Phil Jackson never fucking said Kobe was a better post-shooter, infact he said Jordan's inside-game was better than anybody that's ever played, and that would include his low-post presence during his bulls days
Kobe has got the turn around jumper down to a T. Michael perfected it, Kobe saw how effective it was and uses it in his arsenal as well. You learn from studying the greats. Ain't nothin wrong with that.
IMO the 3 most unguardable moves in history are (in no specific order) the Skyhook, Shaq's Drop Step, and MJ's fadeaway. Kobe's a guard, so the only one of those 3 that makes sense for him to use is the fade. Of course Kobe completely copied MJ's fall away shot. Because the way Michael did it is the best possible way to shoot a fall away. It's like saying anyone that uses the B.E.E.F. system to shoot a jump shot is copying...whoever the hell started shooting that way.
They both did/do it to near perfection. So yeah, they're gonna look alike, but only because the technique they use is just about the perfect way of executing a fadeaway jumpshot. MJ didn't invent it, he just used it alot, as does Kobe.
you guys are so stupid, its not like michael jordan invented the fadeaway jumpshot. Is it just me or does it seem like everytime kobe makes a fadeaway, everybody puts it on a vid and says that he copies mj? But when someone else makes one its nothing!
@KB24ED24 its more of mjs and kobes abillity to consistently hit it, and be able to rely on it even against some of the greatest defenders in the nba, it doesn't matter whether its dirk, lebron, dwayne wade, artest or michael., shit they wouldn't shutup when dirk brought his to last years finals. A lot of people can dunk a basketball so why is it so spectacular when Dwayne wade does it? Because he does it ALL THE TIME against the greatest defensive teams in the world. its the consistency we like
@KB24ED24 because the other players has its own way how to do the fade away jump shot,, they have own style to do it,, like lebron, wade or even garnett,, ,they make fade way jumpshot but they not imitating or copying the style of fade way of mj,, unlike kobe,, hes copying or imitataing every liite move of jordan, ESP THE FADE AWAY,.. even wade says he's idol is michael jordan,, "BUT" he has own way or style to do the fade away. he has own move or he has own "ORIGINALITY"..
@KB24ED24 i think it's because he does it best. he has the best pivot moves, best fakes, pump fakes, all that goes into his fadeaways. who does it better right now?
@KB24ED24 Kobe got some moves from Michael, his game is alittle from Michael. This stepback fadeaway is Mj move, and Kobe use this move. Kobe does copy some stuff from MJ, thats why they call him the next MJ i guess, even though you cant compare the two. So really some moves Kobe do is from Mj, but both make the shot n both are great.
@KB24ED24 he makes his fadeaways exactly like how MJ does it. so, aint that enough reason to say he's copyting MJ?...wow! do people really need to explain?
@KB24ED24 I guess you are young enough. Yes AK47 said it in this vid that Kobe picked up MJ's jumper. And yes, he learned it from the Master. Kobe is the best player in NBA today, and thats one of the factors.
@KB24ED24 because you obviously don't see it the way we see.. MJ and Kobe's fade-aways looks 90% the same compared to the rest of the league.. the reason why it looks the same because kobe copied the form itself, the off-hand and the shooting hand from Mike but MJ's release is much quicker though
@tupark82 you are right its a 100% compliment, and this video is nothing but a compliment, but what i think he is saying is right, there are alot of haters out there that see Kobe taking fade aways and making a video and completely dissing(hating) on him.
@KB24ED24...yeah, exactly...MJ didn't invent the fadeaway...but when done effectively, it's one of the most difficult to defend, and Kobe does it better than anyone...
@30inventionman WTF!? !? !? J.R. SMITH ARE YOU SHITTING ME!? lolololololololol. on THAT note, im off to bed.. thats just too funny.. why are you mentioning JR Smith in the same SENTENCE as the 2nd best to ever do it. Michael, Kobe... JR Smith!? What the fucking fuck!
"i use my fadeaway jumper excessively and even when im open just to look cool, particularly when im playing against worse players to make them look even worse" (i like kobe btw)
Wow people with no life will argue on here about ANYTHING, then after 3 times back and forth they both just try to get the argument to a point of neutrality and realize.. noo booddyyy caaarressss
@lightsw0rd thats kind of ironic cuz from time to time ull see kobe take & make this shot left handed, even acouple from beyond the three. more like kobe's a better shooter, period lol Phill has said it mj has said it jerry west has said it even the people that mj used to trash on has said this. some dont agree Kobe to be the all time great but they all have AGREED the KOBE is the BETTER SHOOTER. look it up, if u claim that u cant find it its a bunch of bull cuz theres tons of vids out there.
@4nikesb where did I say kobe isn't better shooter? now let me tell you something
1st when MJ arrives even IN NBA 2k11 u can see he wasn't good shooted and u can also seeo n his stats but later he had to get shoot since defenders were leaving him open , MJ said this himself that he had to work on his shoot
@lightsw0rd where did i ever mention you claiming jordan to be a better shooter? all i pointed out is you saying Kobe is jordans left hand, i thought is was ironic cuz Kobe utilizes his left hand much more then MJ was able to do. even though mj has put it to work.
@4nikesb so why is jordan's FG% from his last three seasons, when he took primarily fadeaway jump shots still about the same as Kobe's BEST shooting seasons?
@lightsw0rd thats kind of ironic cuz from time to time ull see kobe take & make this shot left handed, even acouple from beyond the three. more like kobe's a better shooter, period lol Phill has said it mj has said it jerry west has said it even the people that mj used to trash on has said this. some dont agree Kobe to be the all time great but they all have AGREED that KOBE is the BETTER SHOOTER. look it up, if u claim that u cant find it its a bunch of bull cuz theres tons of vids out there.

Hawkhunter07 4 months ago
@Hawkhunter07 Objectively comparing Jordan and Bryant is difficult, both because of the passion of fans and because they didn't play in identical conditions. Jordan was very good with his back to the basket, and he made great use of that ability to negate the lost athleticism he suffered with age. Definitely posted up more than Bryant. But he also had the luxury of being able to do that because taking post touches away from Luc Longley is no big deal. Taking them from Gasol/Shaq is stupid.

@superman1113215
Also, don't say things you can't prove
Kobe have admitted that you learned 90% of his game from MJ, and when he came into the league he asked MJ how to post-up for that fadeaway shot, if you want a link to any of these I'll link you it, but don't be stupid saying Kobe is a better post-shooter, Kobe has not reached the consistency shooting that mid-range fadeaway the way MJ did, go to any intelligent basketball forum or ask any NBA stars, they'll laugh at your ass for that
Hawkhunter07 4 months ago
@Hawkhunter07 im just saying what phil jackson said. im not forming any opinions. you're the one trying to insult me for no reason. michael jordan is the best to ever play. i've been watching jordan play since i was 3, and he is one of my two favorite players. like i said, im not trying to throw out bold statements. and seriously man, im not gonna try to argue with u anymore, this is clearly what you live for
superman1113215 4 months ago
@superman1113215

WTF, how about Kobe emulating Kobe's fadeaway? Put as much defense on him, he'll get past you regardless if your punching at him.

note to everybody: the fadeaway was already discovered when Naismith put a peach basket up there.

@2IAN4 That may be, but KB's looks EXACTLY like Mike's.
To the point that if you were to show them side by side, it would look like a clone of the original.
That's why ONLY Bryant gets these things said about him. He admits it himself in his book.
He can look at a move and copy it. Good for him.
But a copy can NEVER top the original.

It's unfair to say Kobe copies or "emulates" MJ.
They both did/do it to near perfection. So yeah, they're gonna look alike, but only because the technique they use is just about the perfect way of executing a fadeaway jumpshot. MJ didn't invent it, he just used it alot, as does Kobe.
BrendanS221 5 months ago
you guys are so stupid, its not like michael jordan invented the fadeaway jumpshot. Is it just me or does it seem like everytime kobe makes a fadeaway, everybody puts it on a vid and says that he copies mj? But when someone else makes one its nothing!
KB24ED24 5 months ago 46
@KB24ED24 its more of mjs and kobes abillity to consistently hit it, and be able to rely on it even against some of the greatest defenders in the nba, it doesn't matter whether its dirk, lebron, dwayne wade, artest or michael., shit they wouldn't shutup when dirk brought his to last years finals. A lot of people can dunk a basketball so why is it so spectacular when Dwayne wade does it? Because he does it ALL THE TIME against the greatest defensive teams in the world. its the consistency we like

@KB24ED24 because the other players has its own way how to do the fade away jump shot,, they have own style to do it,, like lebron, wade or even garnett,, ,they make fade way jumpshot but they not imitating or copying the style of fade way of mj,, unlike kobe,, hes copying or imitataing every liite move of jordan, ESP THE FADE AWAY,.. even wade says he's idol is michael jordan,, "BUT" he has own way or style to do the fade away. he has own move or he has own "ORIGINALITY"..
johnawo1990 4 months ago
@KB24ED24 i think it's because he does it best. he has the best pivot moves, best fakes, pump fakes, all that goes into his fadeaways. who does it better right now?
xover76 4 months ago
@KB24ED24 because Jordan perfected it, and you can tell Kobe emulates Jordan
jamaal1911 4 months ago
@KB24ED24 Kobe got some moves from Michael, his game is alittle from Michael. This stepback fadeaway is Mj move, and Kobe use this move. Kobe does copy some stuff from MJ, thats why they call him the next MJ i guess, even though you cant compare the two. So really some moves Kobe do is from Mj, but both make the shot n both are great.
TheMinnie45 4 months ago
@KB24ED24 he makes his fadeaways exactly like how MJ does it. so, aint that enough reason to say he's copyting MJ?...wow! do people really need to explain?
wornoutshoes11 4 months ago
@KB24ED24 I guess you are young enough. Yes AK47 said it in this vid that Kobe picked up MJ's jumper. And yes, he learned it from the Master. Kobe is the best player in NBA today, and thats one of the factors.
123rockstar2010 4 months ago
@KB24ED24 because you obviously don't see it the way we see.. MJ and Kobe's fade-aways looks 90% the same compared to the rest of the league.. the reason why it looks the same because kobe copied the form itself, the off-hand and the shooting hand from Mike but MJ's release is much quicker though

@KB24ED24 the reason people say this is because his form is the closest to mj's form. should be a compliment not an insult
tupark82 4 months ago
@tupark82 you are right its a 100% compliment, and this video is nothing but a compliment, but what i think he is saying is right, there are alot of haters out there that see Kobe taking fade aways and making a video and completely dissing(hating) on him.
tabkitchen1983 4 months ago
@KB24ED24...yeah, exactly...MJ didn't invent the fadeaway...but when done effectively, it's one of the most difficult to defend, and Kobe does it better than anyone...

@4nikesb where did I say kobe isn't better shooter? now let me tell you something
1st when MJ arrives even IN NBA 2k11 u can see he wasn't good shooted and u can also seeo n his stats but later he had to get shoot since defenders were leaving him open , MJ said this himself that he had to work on his shoot
lightsw0rd 10 months ago
@lightsw0rd where did i ever mention you claiming jordan to be a better shooter? all i pointed out is you saying Kobe is jordans left hand, i thought is was ironic cuz Kobe utilizes his left hand much more then MJ was able to do. even though mj has put it to work.
4nikesb 10 months ago
@4nikesb so why is jordan's FG% from his last three seasons, when he took primarily fadeaway jump shots still about the same as Kobe's BEST shooting seasons?
