  • he sounds like a biitch but props

  • Thanks a lot, great video! Keep up the great work. :))

  • Thanks for your tutorial , i couldn't get the effect i wanted until Gaussian Blur showed up.

  • Nice one Shan, very concise,i didnt know about deleting the path afterwards, whats that all about?

  • @Mpathize Good housekeeping! You can keep the path in your psd file but if you save as tif other Desktop Publishing software might interpret it as a clipping path and all that would print is the beam and not the whole picture. For print whether using jpeg or tiff, files should be "Flattened" the Paths panel should be empty and the Channels Panel should not have extra Alpha channels unless you are doing CMYK printing with a bump plate or spot colors.

  • cheers that was very awsm

  • cheers that was very awsm

  • I always save my file as 12, always, plus sorry, but your videos are bad :/

  • @MooreCona Well, good for you! Unless you have "super hero" vision, no one can discern the difference between a 10 & a 12 but the file size of a 12 is much greater than a 10. If you're not batch processing or trying to fit several hundred images on a CD, it's no biggie. AND, I guess my videos could always be better (so don't be "sorry") but aren't that bad as I have over 21,500 Subscribers and pretty high ratings as a YouTube Partner. Only trying to help others with Photoshop stuff!.

  • I Love what you doing, but you never tell the wrong way THEN show us the correct way

  • @ih8pyramids Not sure what wrong way you want here but I do try to show typical "mistakes" in many videos and how to correct them.

  • gradient doesnt show up for me ? any suggestions? also when I try to use the pen my lines dont come out straight

  • @DDBtheoneandonly Use the Pen Tool by clicking a point, release move your cursor to a new position, click again and the Pen line will snap to the new point/position. DON'T DRAG the Pen!

  • Respond to this video... Make sure you are on a blank layer in Normal Mode 100% Opacity. Make sure you are using a White to Transparent Liner Gradient and that the top options bar shows this as well as it's mode at Normal Mode at 100% Opacity

  • @photoshopmama Thanks mama. I was dragging my line..... GandEnetwork Jus a Dumbas$ dont even answer this dude.

  • wish the bitch would just get to the point and tell us what to do straight away then fucking stalling

  • @GandENetwork How rude & crude! This is an educational channel, do you talk that way to your teachers and parents? Take your Adderall and chill out ! Or at least try to comment with more maturity! What are you 12?

  • @photoshopmama hey its true, i was in a rush to get my project done and you just kept talking. Next time, get to the point asap. Thank you, and no im 17, so what? and again, yes i do cause my teachers are awsome, so what do you care?

  • For 1--It was a viewer request. Not so basic for some.

  • @fisher3354 it helped me out

  • Wow!!! the B/W model photo look great, Can you please add a video how do make that image to so good looking B/W image.

  • Thanks for noticing that! Yeah I really like that one, too. I'll have to go find the original in our Archives and see what I can do! Good suggestion for a tutorial...thanks!

  • Thanks for this a very informative tutorial and as usual very well explained.

  • Ooh this is wonderful!

  • Hello :) Great tutorial, it taught me a lot, but can this also be done with an image that's not black and white? Or does it work for color images too? If it does, is there anything different that needs to be done?

  • Thanks! Same for color images.

  • Awsome tutorial!

  • I'm in process of migrating my programs from XP to Vista. I have CS4 on the Vista machine and I am using it....just have to get my audio equipment and other programs on the new maching...it won't be long now!

  • Thanks and sorry no, I don't use outside sources for images in my tutorials. Everything I use is either taken by us and we hold copyright or occasionally we use images from our closest professional photographer friends who grant us permissions. I have a blurb on my Channel profile stating I simply will not use outside images, I get way too many requests to do this and just can't.-- but thanks for the offer.

  • The one point I make is the gradient should not be vertical but at the same angle as the light beam.

The Inverse square law applies to the light, something all photographers should know.

  • I initially tried it that way and it just didn't look right. It looked much better following gravity straight up and down.

  • I thought the inverse square was about distance from light source-- such as an object that is twice the distance from the light source receives 1/4 the amount of illumination. I don't quite see how the angle of the gradient in this exercise has anything to do with the inverse square law.

  • Well I thought it would be easy to understand.

You are making a light beam so the amount of light it shows will follow this law so you have to draw a line from the light source in the direction of the beam to have the light reducing be that law. With your example the light reduces more on the right compared to the left of the beam in relation to the distance from the light source.

  • u can download light beam brushs guys they work almost as well if not better on times !!

  • I really hate Photoshop gradients, you can visibly see bad fading transitions between colours it makes..

Unlike Flash, or Fireworks, the gradients are super clear.

  • It's called banding and there is a simple solution for that listed in the sidebar to disperse that effect that shows up more because of the video quality and not the effect itself.

  • Awesome, Thank you... it does the trick.. but I would rather prefer Fireworks or Flash gradients, sometimes ill even import the gradients into PS.

  • I don't use Fireworks much but doesn't it also have an option to do a File>Place? That way you could just bring in your photo there and use the nice gradients, no?

  • I don't use Fireworks much either, mainly Flash, but they're pretty much the same in features.

No "File>Place" feature, well, not in my 2004 Fireworks anyway aha ha!

I guess all Adobe products have their ups and downs, just like Macs and PCs.

  • Sorry, it's File>Import in Fireworks.

  • yup..

  • Awesome Tutorial!

    Really Helpful

    Nice Rendered perfectly

    Gotta LOVE HD!

  • Yeah, nice surprise it came out HD because I just chose the regular custom flv/mp4 setting and did mono instead of stereo and it came out stereo. Last time I chose stereo and it came out mono..my mike is mono so that's why I think. I just kept the same capture area of 1280x720 and saved as camrec not avi!

  • Also after finished recording and while choosing the productions settings I chose 6fps, not the typical 30fps and a quality of 80. The file size ended up being around 34MB.

  • nice....

  • Mama Shan! Love your lessons! Thank You!

  • Hey photoshopmama, I always wondered, what software do you use to make the videos ? I am really curious.

  • Tech Smith's Camtasia Studio 6

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks mama! I will be sure to use this in future projects.

  • awesomeee! i was actually just looking for a simple way to do this the other day! perfect timing!! :D

  • Omg ..that looks pretty cool :) 5* great job mama :)

    greets from germany :)

  • Danka!

  • It called "Danke" with an "E" at the end but thank you for the "Danka" mama:)

  • oops! I should have know that. I was born in Wiesbaden (but spelling is not my forte in any language! grin)

  • GREAT TUTORIAL BRO WASD UP DA,,,...
