UPDATE ON GARY-He has been home from the hospital for about 8 wks-He is recovering nicely -so far no eating restrictions or insulin needed.He has a good appetite & is gaining his weight back,he is going for walks & doing small tasks around the house.He still has an Abscess in stomach area which they have been treating these last 2 mons with antibiotics & it has shrunk some, it is causing no side effects,I do not think the Dr's want to operate to remove it -End of April he has another CT Scan~CN

Talked to Gary 1st week of March. Seems this recovery is taking quite some time. Left a message since and hope he's feeling better.

Update:Over the weekend Gary had been throwing up & had diarrhea, & just wasn't feeling well -He is back in the hosp. -Diarrhea & Vomiting have stopped(poss. a bug going around) After CTScan-the focus now seems to be back at the pocket of fluid they spotted the last time he was in(Abscess).Will Treat w/ Antibods for the weekend & watch if no improvement it will be drained-but it is in a very tight spot, poss need for operation to remove it. Thanks for your continued prayers for him & the family.

Update: Gary is home again, after another week in the hospital - hopefully this will be it. He was discharged Sunday afternoon, We have a list of meds this time so hopefully we will not end up in the same situation again. Also on antibiotics for infection - they decided to leave the fluid near pancreas alone & not drain it. Thank you again for all the prayers & phone calls, we are deeply touched.

UPDATE: Gary is back in Hospital. He was having discomfort last night (Monday), low grade temp, nausea, vomiting=not normal for him. Went to ER, took xrays & cat scan - he has an abscess near the pancreas, too close to tap and drain, so they will treat with antibiotics. Also a bit constipated due to pain meds. We are in regular room now. Not sure how long the stay will be. Thank you for your prayers.

I posted an update a few days ago, but I do not see it here...Gary's operations were both a success (on Jan 4th), though more of the pancreas was removed then originally thought to come out - He is recovering nicely - Dr's estimate another week or two in hospital with 3 - 4 months to total recovery. We will keep you posted, and thank you again for your prayers. Jeff, I also posted a comment to your emergency, but not here either, we will keep you in our prayers also-Thank you to All! Christine

Update: Both surgeries were a success! Last one finished @ 8:30pm. Mon. - Gary is recovering back in ICU, he is having some pain, but they are making him comfortable - it will depend on his bodies healing strengths to determine when he can go home - Thank you again for your prayers, Christine and Gary

I have a family emergency as well now.

After talking with Gary today, my thoughts afterwards were: Thank God he's in one of the best hospitals in the country. Surgery is on Monday, followed by several weeks of recovery. Gary stated he wouldn't wish this ordeal on his worse enemy and thanked everyone for their prayers of support.

You know I asked him that. He suddenly had pains in his gut and started to vomit. There are over a dozen people in his ward with the same condition. His wife saved his life, by insisting he was moved to a better hospital. Christy Rocks!

Gary's cell phone was lost, when they changed the sheets on his bed. I have the hospital's number now and will call him tomorrow. He has surgery on Monday.

This is Christine - Gary was able to watch the video & was very touched by all the comments & encouraging words & appreciates the prayers being offered. He said, "Love that song Jeff "- Unfortunately, Gary will have to have surgery on his pancreas and they will also have to remove his spleen - surgery is scheduled for Monday afternoon - His Dr. they say , is the best in this field. This is Christine, Garys wife - Thanks Jeff for posting this video & for everyone's prayers - Gary was diagnosed with Pancreatitis after going into the ER with chest and stomach pains (Nov 29th) After breathing complications & some minor organ setbacks I am very happy to say Gary is doing really well, the doctors are really impressed with his improvement. All IV's, tubes, & machines have basically left the room, which is a good sign :o)
