i remember playing this when i was 3 years old. i loved this game and still do. i play it at college when i am on a break and i has helped me through my college course by giving me great ideas. DOOM will never die and i hope DOOM 4 is as fun a simple as this was
I've always loved the playstation version of doom- some people think the music on the playstation version was horrible while the pc was incredible, but I believe they just give the game a different feeling.
@thebruce1313 haha thats weird that you mention that i have done that and swore for a split second i saw a caco demon in my room very very scary stuff man
I love the Playstation and N64 versions because of the music. I tried the PC version later and hated it. Its way too happy and twangy. This is a better fit for dooms dark gloomy theme and horror approach.
@sonic4sale it really was but at the time the average pc couldn't play songs this hi def during a game without lagging sadly ...... Awhile back I found a mod that put this soundtrack and the better gun and monster sound effects on the pc version..... Made things so much better as the ps1 doom was a cut version of the original so finally getting the sound and the full doom 1 and 2 experience was awesome :) ANYWAYS the pack has still got to be lurking somewhere
was this music only for playstation? i dont remember hearing this at all on computer... if i had, i probably never would have completed the game LOL its creepy as fuck and changes the whole dynamic of the game.. its nothing to slaughter demons to heavy metal, but this would definitely have scared the shit out of me :D
This music just speaks volumes, it makes you think what happened at this place with those mountains in the background showing how remote you are and what horrors await you. I remember playing this at 2 in the morning with the lights all off, god, what a rush, a rush that even with today's graphics, I can never repeat.
This is extremely much better than that crappy music the pc provides. This is such a great atmospheric device that it makes you feel like you really are fighting against the dark forces of Hell. It goes superbly well with the lighting changes the psx version offers. It really makes the pc version look like a half-assed attempt more than an actual game.
@Timewap First of all: the PC version is 2 years older than te PSX version. Secondly: you can't fit anything else than a midisong on a floppydisk, to be played on a 386 PC. You might find the music is crappy, but be aware: those were the standards back in 1993. And that's also why this game scored extremely high in many PC magazines.
Man renegade I wish i could friend you twice. I been digging around your uploads and there is so many great memories tucked away in here. I would have never thought in a million years that someone would go through the trouble of posting this.

i Dislike..for one little thing....the psx version of doom has horrible music...they are like lullabies ....the PC version is better...absolutely!!!..
Very atmospheric. This soundtrack brings Resident Evil to mind, which is interesting because I guess you could say that, in a way, Doom pioneered or at least anticipated the whole survival horror genre. Much less so than the FPS genre, of course, but still...

An odd change of pace for Doom. It's good, undoubtedly, but even the original Doom had atmospheric songs that had a beat to them.

Interesting to note is the the engine used in this game allowed for multiple ports of the same game. id Software did an excellent job on this game.
