...i can not get too much of old-school-tunes ! this is one of the best ! 'first heard on a german tv-show last year ! 'can't get this sound out of my head ! thanks a lot for sharing ! LES
I met a police officer in Laugharne, and he told me this; a local person was seen carrying a cross late at night, so police stopped him to have a closer look at it; and it was the cross of Dylan Thomas grave, and he wanted to take it hope to repaint it, because it was so impaired and faded; - police did let him carry on....crazy!!
@onlinelondon I see. Well the idea of the police seeing someone stealing the cross from this poets grave and letting him go just because he said he was fixing it up is utterly preposterous.
@imacooldude506 I agree, but maybe he was so devoted and dedicated follower of DT, that he thought he would do him some good by re-painting it.......police certainly knew the guy, being such a small village!!
@therealjonpaw Listen to the poem carefully and think about what you are hearing. What is "that good night" that Thomas is taking about? And why does he want his father to not go gentle into it? but instead "Rage, rage against the dying of the light." What is this light he speaks of? I look forward to your responce.
@sotweeddude i do like it a lot but for what i perceive as its ambiguous nature hehe it may even increase my interest in it for that uh, reason hehe i think i may have some kind of issue with linear thought beyond my lack of education
@sotweeddude I interpret it as him basically saying, give life your all until the very end, don't get complacent or give up just because you have reason to believe that your end is near.
There you have it. In less than two minutes, a lesson: you've got to love those Celts. I mean who else writes or reads poetry like that outside Mother Russia? Nobody!
I imagine you are a Russian, guessing from your comment and I salute your premise, and thank you for it. Being a Celt, and having spent time in Russia, I sense we are very alike. If I ever watch any films, they are Russian: if I read any books they are Russian - those and my own kin.

Dear Lebarosky,
I imagine you are a Russian, guessing from your comment and I salute your premise, and thank you for it. Being a Celt, and having spent time in Russia, I sense we are very alike. If I ever watch any films, they are Russian: if I read any books they are Russian - those and my own kin.
