  • About fucking time, somebody spelled MayheM properly on a video's title. With a capital M at both ends. Good job.

  • Very nice (and rare?) pic at 3:30, I didn't know there was such a close one where Dead actually cuts himself on stage. Also, brilliant song choices.

  • @Lord6of9Uk

    They inspirer immortal too

  • Things like Grand Declaration of War are not mayhem...for me MayheM is Deathcrush,De Mysteriis and maybe wolf's wair abyss

  • @Gebrechlichkeit1 Mayhem was about innovation. So, GDOW, and everything done after by blasphemer represents mayhem.

  • @Gebrechlichkeit1 I thought Chimera and Ordo Ad Chao were pretty fucking good too.

  • @Kevlar616 Allright but what will say MayheM BIIIIG fans about things like Grand Declaration of War (I don't care if it's wrote wrong)...real MayheM died after Euronymous's Death...and Per's too...nowadays there is no MayheM

  • @Gebrechlichkeit1 Personally I don't buy into the whole "True Mayhem", " New Mayhem"thing, they are the same for me, but I recognise that many people do and thats fine as they (or they both, if you prefer lol) made great fucking music. I didn't like

Grand Declaration Of War. My favourite would be Deathcrush.

  • @Kevlar616 Well, whether you like it or not there was an original mayhem, then they changed... making it NEW mayhem. And everyone has an opinion on what is better.

  • +INFERNAL HAILS+

  • ave sathanas

  • Mayhem is icredible band, good video!

  • Glad to see someone besides me knowing that Mayhem are really first Wave.

  • What's with all the shit-talking on modern/current Mayhem and black metal? I don't get it.... Yes, I get it when it comes to Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth, but that's about it.

  • why u didnt put the Album Dawn of the Black Hearts with Deads Brain Cover on it?

  • que buen recuento , de lo mejor de mayhem por que despoues de eso no se que les paso los cojio el com ercio quisas ajaj

  • @MaYHeM1987666 Well here's a question for you. What came first? Bathory or Mayhem?

  • @Annihilator333 Bathory came first by 1 year before Mayhem lol ... but Mayhem and Bathory are set apart by two different styles of black metal, dumbass! ; )

I felt the very need to answer that question instead... heh

  • @Annihilator333 actually... i will correct myself in saying Bathory formed in 1983, and although Mayhem officially formed in 1984, their roots go back as early as 1983 aswell!

  • Are Mayhem ever going to put out another album, because it's been 4 years since Ordo ad Chao.

  • Sarcofago<3

  • I don't like when people say "True Mayhem", I know that Dead was the original singer, but Mayhem is an entity that channels itself through the band members, not a group of people.

  • @NergalBladmouth Dead was actually the third singer, I believe

  • @NergalBladmouth euronymous then messiah, then maniac, then dead, then attila, then maniac, then attila is current.

  • Parabellum (South America) were influential to the European scene as well, along with other South American bands later emerging (Sarcofago,Sepultura, etc.). They have also made a large impact on extreme metal in general.

Face paint has been around in music since the early days of Alice Cooper and KISS, but were not directly influenced. Celtic Frost and King Diamond were the first involving extreme metal with satanic imagery or the like. The term "corpse paint" was coined during second wave

  • Hellhammer (Switzerland) and Bathory (Sweden) started European black metal (sound), Earlier influences included mostly thrash metal, (Venom were also observed) and many other older genres in dealing with same satanic or mystique lyrical content (Coven, Black Sabbath, etc.). Mayhem perfected the "Norwegian sound" and began very early as well but they are not the originators of the black metal movement.

  • I care not when it started I just lay back and let the sound carry me away to a time long before this argument began....

  • @MaYHeM1987666 umm you did say "One of the" by using Band{s} ,

  • "Tribute to the era, hailed upon as... THE TRUE MAYHEM----Originators of Nor...

    Mayhem - Pagan Fears

    Download This Song: eMusic"

better buy used vinyl on ebay or at least bootlegged copy of copied bootleg from stolen session tapes.

  • I wonder how they would've ended up if it weren't for Dead going mentally ill and taking his life... things changed a lot when Maniac et al took over [personally, I think that Attila is THE best Mayhem vocalist/frontman]

  • bathory started the black metal scene

  • the best Mayhem´s line up was Attila Csihar - Vocals, Euronymous - Guitar, Varg - Bass, Hellhammer - Drumms

  • i see alot of comments sayin mayhem started the whole norwegian bm movment...but wasnt it emperor? i thought emperor formed before mayhem...not saying you should take my word for it....maybe emperor was just the first internatial signed bm band. anyone care to tell me if im wrong? everythingi look up about mayhem says they formed around 1994 and im sure emperor has been around since 91. well if anyone knows let me know!

stay heavy to all you brutal mother fuckers!!!!!!

  • @aliknott123 Mayhem formed before 1986. You can see some liveclips with them from 1986 here on You Tube!

  • @Djasper321 thanks for the info!!!

  • @aliknott123 Mayhem can be traced back as early as 1983, whereas Emperor started in 1991 and killed the true black metal sound which Mayhem forged and perfected in the late 1980's and early 1990's!

  • @aliknott123 i think you misread 1984 being '1994', as Mayhem offically formed in 1984.

  • @aliknott123 Emperor? Mayhem formed in 1984 child!!!

  • @ThePENON im sorry!!! lol, i didnt know they were around for that long....i guess my friend lied to me....stupid fucker lol. man i cant belive they've been around for so long...thats crazy

  • Bathory came around the same time Mayhem did. Bathory did not wear corpse paint. Dead started that. Mayhem also was before Darkthrone, and Burzum (varq) was around the same time as Mayhem obviously because played for them in 1993. But Mayhem IS the original black metal band even above Burzum. The so called black metal market today, by no fault of it's own is watered down crap, it will never have the mistique that came with Mayhem and the whole dead, Euronymous varq thing, never again.

  • @bloodmachine9 thats true! but Darkthrone was before Burzum by 4 years...varg started his band in '91.

    mayhem formed - 1984

    darkthrone - 1987

    burzum - 1991

varg was in mayhem in 1993 but was not around before 1991.

  • The rise and fall of norwegian black metal...

  • mayhem is the true black metal

  • Idz pan w chuj z tymi psychopatami.

  • But what about Bathory ?!! That had a black metal sound and came before Mayhem?

  • @sgtzero1337 they were the first ones to produce black Metal overall xD

     gotta love sweden :D

  • @sgtzero1337 Read better, Mayhem rised the NORWEGIAN Black Metal!! And Venom was the first, before Bathory!!!

  • @ThePENON don't you mean rose? And sorry I just can't understand your grammar at all. Venom is more in the lines of thrash metal anyways.. Bathory had more of the sound of what black metal really is. Mayhem's the first norweigan black metal band

  • @sgtzero1337 Venom start it all dude!! No doubt!!

  • @ThePENON Venom's not even from norway so they can't be called 'norweigan black metal'

  • @ThePENON no way ,man! venom is not black metal at all!

  • @josapology VENOM IS BLACK METAL HIMSELF DUDE!! C'MON!!!

  • @ThePENON dude, we're talking about the music! there's an entire abyss of difference between bathory and mayhem against venom! venom is trash/speed metal! we're talking 'bout the music not he lyrics!

listen to deathcrush and under the sign of the black mark and then listen to welcome to hell, you'll se what i'm talking about!

  • @josapology All my life listening to Bathory, Venom, Slayer, Sarcófago, Sodom, Possessed, Mayhem, Darkthrone etc. and I i don't see Venom so diferent from Bathory and Mayhem, they are the same Balck Metal Family dude!! Don't joke!! What music? FUKKK OFFF!!!!!!! and die

  • @josapology WITHOUT VENOM THERE'S NO BLACK METAL!!!

  • @ThePENON thats not even true.!BATHORY was actually earlier black metal before VENOM even if VENOM came out with the album "black metal" but BATHORY had already satanic lyrics in there songs before VENOM...

  • @666theskaters Are you stupid? Venom born in 1980 and they had satanic lyrics and Bathory in 1984, what you are talking about?

  • @ThePENON no dude bathory had satanic lyrics before venom's BLACK METAL album...

  • @666theskaters Dude the álbum "Black Metal" was the most influential to Thrash, Black and Death Metal and it's recorded in 1982 one year before Bathory. Bathory was founded in 1983.

  • @josapology WHAT KIND OF BLACKER ARE YOU?

  • @sgtzero1337 finally ,someone who knows !

  • RIP Euronymous. 8/10/1993

  • should put the song lineups like wats the first song, seconds song ect.

  • @ThePurefuckingMayhem if you look closely, you wil see there actually IS the song titles appearing before each song on the video!!!

  • Fukking Hail \m/

  • the masterssssss !!!!!!true mayhem fuckerssssssss

  • Everyone knows that Euronymous wanted to be underground in the beginning, but he soon realised that if you want to spread your evil you have to come out from the underground. He had ambitions of spreading the plaugue to as many people as possible, not hidden in his basement. And if you didnt know, wake up, its 2010, not 1991

  • @Deathwitchbitchfinda Totally agree. Euronymous wouldn't have begun signing more bands to Deathlike Silence if he didn't realize it was time to expand. If Euronymous was still alive, I think Deathlike Silence would still be a powerhouse of black metal.

  • @Deathwitchbitchfinda Exactly. It's pretty hard to wage a "war" from your basement with only a handful of people even aware of your existence. At this point, the whole "keep this as underground as possible for the sake of it" is little more than an "exclusive" social club for elitist snobbery at best, a soapbox from which arrogant blowhards can pontificate at worst.

  • You have to stick to the early Mayhem if you are a true fan! The music was intense and original without any hype! They put out their music like the early 80's hardcore punk bands. Totally Do It Yourslef!

  • i think Euronymous and Pelle would be turning in their graves, knowing what a hype the 2nd wave of BlackMetal has become now! MayheM to this day aren't even close to representing Mayhem of the old.

  • @Lord6of9Uk agree

  • @Lord6of9Uk haha thats funny, pretty true

  • The TRUE Mayhem is Dead... and Euronymous... NOT this GAYHEM of 1994 and beyond

  • I like the old mayhem. From the very beginning.

  • the song at the begining is called Ghoul from their first demo named Pure Fucking Armageddon

  • wich song is it in the begining?

  • ]v[ A Y H E ]v[

  • Hail Satan

  • it really doesn't get more metal than that

  • mayhem is my favorite band...without them BM wouldn t exist...hail dead and euronymous!!!

  • you should check out Parabellum from Colombia, south america

now, without them or at least their influence mayhem would not have made BM

  • hi darkknightcol

yes, euronimous said their most important influences are south america metal : sarcofago has influenced to Euronimous and the true mayhem, war paint of mayhem has been influenced by sarcofago. Yes, Parabellum too. Euronimous loved south american death/black/trash metal. He liked Hadez of Peru a lot, sepultura a lot (old sepultura ) south american is the most important influence

  • But there's an interview on the Lords Of Chaos book where Euro criticizes Sepultura... *shrugs*

  • yes, for the comercial Sepultura , but Euronimous loved "The Bestial Devastation" and "The Morbid Visions"(LP)

  • Oh, OK then! ;D

  • are you kidding me? it's an unknown band which mayhem probably haven't heard of now nor had back then they had influences like Slayer, venom and bathory

  • no im not kidding , its that most people dont know that. If you investigate enough you will find that Euronymous had a lot of contact with people in South America (band members, record label owners) like for example the Colombian Mauricio "Bull Metal" Montoya, owner of Warmaster records...yeah the same one that released in ¨Dawn Of The Black Hearts¨ ...

also those contacts he made helped him to get more diverse material later when he had Helvete

  • 200% true. But todays kids know nothing about the real Mayhem. Parabellum (Colombia and belonged to the first wave) and Sarcofago (Brazil), Masacre (Colombia, Bull Metal was the baterist of this band before make his own Thypon) were among the fave bands of Dead. Bull Metal ironically committed suicide in December of 2003 i think.

  • @Risyros was Typhon, from Colombia.

  • @Risyros hello i'm from brazil i'm 12 years old and i almost know everything about mayhem and the norwegian black metal scene i bought pure fucking mayhem ,until the light takes us and my fav brazilian bands are sarcofago and sepultura and i'm doing a black metal band so not everything is lost like u said cuz here in brazil kids luv black death heavy metal

  • @Risyros

i'm sorry, but i'm 15 and i know pretty much every thing about the european black metal and no other metal genres ofcourse is so mystic and athmospheric like black metal, it's more then just music !

  • @Risyros

I would like to resent that statement. The only Mayhem I listen to is the stuff with Maniac and Dead.

  • @XW1n5t0nX i agree my friend. dead has the creepy story that everyone knows about, but in my opinion, maniac has that great sound to his voice, when he is just speaking and not even singing. that cool accent.

  • @Risyros Hey im 12 yrs old and i love black metal any metal (except deathcore)

my favorites bands are sodom holocausto sarcofago sepultura etc

and i hav a band called crucifixion so not evry thing is lost

  • dude without VENOM black metal wouldnt exist. nice try though

  • watch?v=A9mlKu_UrN4&feature=related

  • yes, Euronimous gave a piece of Dead´sbrain to Mauricio "Bull metal" and had a lot of contact with south america. The principal influence of Mayhem is south america, the extreme sound. now norway black metal is fashion, pure posers,Satyricon posers

  • Satyricon are posers?Ive heard it all.Listen to The Shadowthrone simple human.

  • @darthghozt666 Satire-con imo.

  • Ah yes and by the way,Satyricon have pieces of his skull as well.

  • Satyricon made 3 dark feelings LP´s, Dark medival times, Shadowthrone, Nemesis divina in the past.

Now, Satyricon have a comercial sound and have a image of rock star, thanks.

  • There great so what, there Metallica of BM not a bad rap

  • @darthghozt666 im sure marduk and thorns have peices of it too. not sure bout any others

  • great band. Mayhem from 87-94 were THE black metal band that influenced the rest. sure Darkthrone & Burzum went on to better things, but it all started with 2 bands: Bathory & Mayhem. hail Dead. hail Euronymous.

  • Venom Dumb ass

  • fuck yes MayheM are the shit! all Hail Euronymous + Per Yngve Ohlin \m/\m/\m/

  • 5/5*****

  • I like it, very original !!!!! ******
