All u haters shut ur mouth he was a good rapper and deserves more credit fuck queen and their base line he's killin ur brain like a poisonous mushroom bitches
Just happened upon this video. Bunch of assholes have him on the show to make fun of him. They are all so smart and he's there to be ridiculed for entertainment is their premise. Wish he destroyed the set even more so.
stupid idea... having him come in, make fun of his shit and then destroy it? lol... kinda just asking for him to destroy the set. I was hoping he was gonna break more shit tho. Gotta love Jon and Chris tho
If they showed everyone watching the video it would give you a good idea of why Rob exploded. Everyone was just ripping on him. I remember Chris Kattan asking "So did you have that haircut before you got into the business?"
lol I love him and his music. I also see what he means too. Everyone is just into that one song he did which gets extremely overplayed, and then he has to sing it at every concert. I'd get sick of hearing it too. It's almost gets as annoying as watching Barney or Dora. I've listened to some of his other stuff and it's pretty good, and he's right, people should give some of his other music a try
It was rather obvious that Rob was still in control, it was basically a very good act.
The funny part about this video isn't Rob freaking out. The funny part of the video is how nervous the hosts started to get. Apparently they weren't sure if Rob was acting or if he was seriously going to hit them with the bat.
Credit to Rob for taking them out of their comfort zone. You can tell he was still completely in control when you watch it again.
Rob should have accepted that he was part of pop culture and ran with it from a nostalgic approach. I think he eventually was forced to because I saw him on another show years later with Jewel performing Ice Ice Baby on her porch.
I feel like they made it seem like he went crazier, it seemed like a joke now that I seen it again. He even apologizes to Jon Stewart when he gets in his way. Like an honest and funny sounding sorry. Like he wasn't really mad.
Hahaha! Leave it to Vanilla Ice to show the world what punk-ass little bitches Chris Kattan and that groveling skank Jeneane Garraffolo truly are. "Hold it up!!" "No, Vanilla! Vanilla!" Ahahaha these idiots had no idea how in over their heads they were until the Ice-man showed up and nearly bashed their fucking brains in!
Eh... As lame as Ice Ice baby may have been and what it did to white MCs everywhere... This guy seriously needs a break, he's put much effort into stepping away from that one hit wonder and do some real tracks but he never got another one in the charts, nor is it cool to be known for those 4 minutes of a hip POP song you wrote when you were 15 (He did).
If he really regrets being vanilla ice and wants to do something crazy. How about he give back some of the millions he made from the image and all the millions of albums people bought. Then id really believe that this guy was sorry for being vanilla ice. You cant regret doing something but hold on to the rewards and profit from it and truely be sorry.
@EidSeimmoc OK OK Iemme try: I'm surprised you're not... uh... Oh wait, ok you're a fascist and.. probably wear coveralls.. and no shirt... What's left? And drink RC Cola.
Gosh, I feel so clever reciting stereotypes, like I'm accomplishing so much with myself
This is the video I watch when I'm down and out! Hearing Janeane's nervous laughter, Dennis and Jon trying to remain cool, and the classic "No Vanilla!" from Chris, makes me always forget my troubles! The best is when you consider it was completely unexpected (at least, thats what MTV claims...)
Guys...listen to his music and look at his style that he made up. Then you will see that he did this to himself. His music is all fake ass shit so i dont know wtf you people are talking about when you say he sang from the heart and sang about the way his life was. He made a glam/bad-ass life up and in the end, he got shit on! People were just like--ya ok--he went way too far and tried way too hard after he got so famous that people were like, is he for real with those haircuts??
@patriots2185 He didn't make anything up. SBK did release a book that detailed wrong biographical info, but his music was always his. He did a lot of sex oriented rap songs back in his early days, like various other rappers such as the 2 Live Crew. But the main difference was that he didn't say anything too dirty or offensive which is why Koppelman liked him. His style developed with him after hard drugs and suicide. He still does party songs but every now and then he sings from the heart.
I watched this just to rehear someone (Kattan?) say 'No, Vanilla!" But this guy is very much in control. He knew exactly what he was going to hit. He even says 'Sorry John' in the middle of his 'rampage.' If anything it seems a little contrived on his part.
At any rate it was well deserved. It's like if anytime you walked into a room everyone brought up the fact you shit your pants in the second grade.
Little fake punk thinks he's entitled to threaten people with a bat, bringing it down right next to them. Little jerk playing Big Man, in the real world he'd get his ass kicked.
even though em is great it was obvious eminem was gna make platinums kuz if vanila ice kud do it y kudnt em?i think if em was blak he wud get half as much rep as he duz now.most of america is white hence if their own does good in a blak mans industry he wud get double the fans nd reps.em is 1 ov my fav rappers but overrated at tyms.
@TheMrMuzzle What the fuck are you even trying to say? what is a "kud" and what does "y kudnt em?" mean? and what is "ov" and "wud" and what the fuck is "tyms" and "kuz"
@TheMrMuzzle Dude, are you kidding me? It's more fucking difficult to purposefully write shit stupidly than it is to just do it, you know, the way people can fucking understand you.
The same year that this happened, I was working for a TV show that reviewed music and we were sent a copy of Vanilla Ice's latest record for a review. It was some kind of atrocious Nu-Metal Rap-Rock, in the vein of Limp Bizkit (who were unfortunately popular at the time). We listened to it for all of a minute before shutting it off and tossing it in the trash.
Vanilla Ice hated MTV for laughing at him, but he and his music sucked in every incarnation, and there's no one else to blame for that.
@Down10 The CD was not in the vein of Limp Bizkit. It was produced by Ross Robinson, so if anything it was in the vein of KoRn. Limp Bizkit however is in the vein of Vanilla Ice as Fred Durst has often noted that he was heavily inspired by Ice.
Too bad you didn't give Hard to Swallow more then a minute. It's actually a pretty good CD. It's his second best selling album, it even went Gold.
@knickknack07 actually it was 90' and ya he is the lamest fakest weakest foniest of all time he earned that title and he shows us why he is the wackest human being breathing on the planet each time he comes on tv pathetic piece of crap
@thekingofoakland That is impressive. We just don't hear about him that much over here in the UK anymore. It's like he keeps a low profile without any controversy nowadays. 10 years ago I heard about him all the time.
@IrishNickO it's the funniest part of the video! I bust out in laughter every time that part is approaching...I'm pretty sure the one saying it was Chris Kattan, I feel like it's even more funnier just because of that reason. He's such a weird, funny little man.
i would have acted like that also, he worked his butt off, had a #1 hit and it was taken from him. than the media tried to make this guy into a joke, mainly the black media. eminem knew what to do and not to do but ice was in unchartered waters. im sorry but aside from niggers who are the real racist people, most agree that he was pretty bad ass in the day.
@jasartrip9598 Aside from the fact that all the comedians on the show trashing Vanilla are white, you are a fucking moron. Please kill yourself. Thanks.
If I were Rob, it would have been really tough not to repeatedly smack that little weasle Chris Kattan in the face with the bat. Sucks to be called on to show to be made fun of, years after the joke died. What's funny is MTV is a bigger joke than Vanilla Ice now. Ironic.
I watched this when it aired and thought he'd gotten pissed off that they had given him a hammer to smash the tape and that he hadn't realized the significance of using a hammer until one of those comedians pointed it out, and I remember him being more violent than this. Weird.
I remember watching this when it aired, and was thinking how cool it was. I was never a big Vanilla Ice fan, but the "burn the video" show (at least I think that's what it was called) had a real snide, smug tone to it, and the panel were there to trash Vanilla, his video, and humiliate him. Vanilla didn't like being publicly humilated by that, so he did something about it. I admire him for that.
@GoblinGirl He also thrashed the set of that reality show he was on, looks like thrashing sets is his thing. He beat up his wife too, he needs anger management. Search "Vanilla Ice gets back stabbed".
@dialmanfilms who the f cares??? wtf kind of shitty world do we live in now where fame & fortune is more important than being authentic? Your generation is so, so pathetic.
@MiamiPush2theLimit That shitty world is Earth, it's not only my generation either. There have been posers forever, even the Wright brothers werent the first to fly an airplane, they were only the first with witnesses. I'd rather be rich in a real house than in a box barely surviving and being original. Money makes the world go 'round, if you have it you're in control, without it you're shit. Money talks, bullshit walks.
@MiamiPush2theLimit Your so right everybody wants the high life nowadays its ridiculous and some people will say and do anything to try and get what they want. Its true without it (money) we cant survive, but people have to realize fame and fortune isnt the prime asset in life *Time* is.And another thing when where up in life its not as good as it seems and when where down we dont think where gonna get back up again but life goes on, it least for most of us i assume.
Crazy? More like he went 'bad-acting, drama-queen DOUCHEBAG! Dude... no sympathy anyway because this was guy was and still is the essence of whoring out your identity. He doesn't knoe who or what he is and never will. One word tho... douchebag.
Give the guy a break, he thought half way during the show, he thought to himself "why am i going to destroy my video, i worked fuckin hard on that video, im not going to destroy this" i watched his biography, that is what he said. He was a legend in the 90's, fuck the mainstream media screwing up peoples lives. Vanilla tried to take his life back in 95 because the mainstream media spat him out of his long earn't fame. This guy is a legend. Long Live the ICE!!!!!
A legend to whom, the few hundred people that ignored the fact that he lied about growing up in the ghetto and that he denied sampling from David Bowie and Queen's "Under Pressure?" A true legend does not wreck havoc in a studio just to draw attention to himself. He also does not go on a VH1 Reality Show and go ballistic on one of his team mates for voting against him. A man who has no regrets about his repeated outbursts does not deserve my respect.
@ZeJubjub Dude really?? he is no fucking legend. it was a lame artist who ripped off the beat from queen. there are real artists out there that should be noticed not someone like him. get real
@morbidchid Don't know if you were born at this time and quit frankly, i don't care, but i do remember that he got his ass sued by David bowie and freddy mercury and won. that is why you have to get the artist's permission to do that. hip hop and rap sucks ass anyway's.
I'm fully aware that he got sued. He didn't create the beat and he didn't sample it either. It was his DJ. It was his executives that didn't file the right papers. Ice just did the rap and there for did NOT rip off Queen or David Bowie.
And 90% of hip hop, pop, techno and other genres is nothing moure then sampling.
@ZeJubjub dude vanilla ice is a bitch!!he sold out and became a pop sensation.he aint no legend!!he only made like 2 songs and they sucked..i dont even consider him a rapper
Vanilla ice is a fag.

If I were Rob, it would have been really tough not to repeatedly smack that little weasle Chris Kattan in the face with the bat. Sucks to be called on to show to be made fun of, years after the joke died. What's funny is MTV is a bigger joke than Vanilla Ice now. Ironic.

He just had a premonition of Eminem's success.

I watched this when it aired and thought he'd gotten pissed off that they had given him a hammer to smash the tape and that he hadn't realized the significance of using a hammer until one of those comedians pointed it out, and I remember him being more violent than this. Weird.
warrkrymez 1 year ago

MiamiPush2theLimit 1 year ago 26
@MiamiPush2theLimit That shitty world is Earth, it's not only my generation either. There have been posers forever, even the Wright brothers werent the first to fly an airplane, they were only the first with witnesses. I'd rather be rich in a real house than in a box barely surviving and being original. Money makes the world go 'round, if you have it you're in control, without it you're shit. Money talks, bullshit walks.

@MiamiPush2theLimit Doing it for the art doesn't pay the bills.

@MiamiPush2theLimit calling the whole generation "pathetic" instead of that one kid "pathetic" is "pathetic" of you.

@ZeJubjub nope he really wanted to burn the thing.
uberari 1 year ago
A legend to whom, the few hundred people that ignored the fact that he lied about growing up in the ghetto and that he denied sampling from David Bowie and Queen's "Under Pressure?" A true legend does not wreck havoc in a studio just to draw attention to himself. He also does not go on a VH1 Reality Show and go ballistic on one of his team mates for voting against him. A man who has no regrets about his repeated outbursts does not deserve my respect.

@ZeJubjub dude he is a white guy who things he's a black guy from a ghetto with no talent no cool and defo no ice

@benhez Just out of curiosity, what's your idea of good Hip hop?
bugstrut 1 year ago
@ZeJubjub Dude really?? he is no fucking legend. it was a lame artist who ripped off the beat from queen. there are real artists out there that should be noticed not someone like him. get real
darksoul915 1 year ago
@darksoul915
Oh, sampling means you're not a real artist?
Sorry BILLIONS OF MUSICIANS WHO HAVE USED THIS TOTALLY NORMAL THING CALLED SAMPLING, YOU ARE NOT REAL ARTISTS. this guy on youtube said so.
morbidchid 1 year ago
@morbidchid Don't know if you were born at this time and quit frankly, i don't care, but i do remember that he got his ass sued by David bowie and freddy mercury and won. that is why you have to get the artist's permission to do that. hip hop and rap sucks ass anyway's.
darksoul915 1 year ago
@darksoul915
So, hate the game, not the player.
morbidchid 1 year ago
@ZeJubjub He's a "legend?" He didn't even DO anything! Can't even sing/ rap! He was a JOKE when he CAME OUT!!
