im thinking of buying a desktop and doing this but would i need a pc monutor first to set it up or can i plug it in to my tv straight away, fresh outta the box
I use a VGA CABLE, and for sound you need a 3.5mm Stereo Plug to Stereo Plug 5 Mtrs Gold. i would prefere the vga cable than the hdmi lead, vga is a clearer screen, well on my tv anyway.
How to create an unhelpful youtube video: You need: 1) Cheap camera with very very low resolution. 2) Annoying mp3 for background music 3) Shaky hands 4) Incorrect information 5) No brain.
@sciberras89 well if you got fucking cables then use thos to connect from your pc earphones thus get a adapter and idk dude ill make a video soon hear then pug emm in to your speakers///tv then you can use this for the video?
I am not experience in computer too.but may i know the name of the wire/cable that have the blue thingys on both sides of the wire and has screws on it. It is found on 0:34
@gogetatr because VGA doesn't transmit sound, only display, see if your player or pc has an HDMI out, or if not, go get a 3.5mm double ended cable for about like 4 bucks from radio shack.
I'm using a vga connection on a sony bravia, I can't get my games to show up on the tv, is there something special that i have to do? I'm trying to play the orange box in particular, it keeps popping up with an invalid format screen, i get the audio for the valve logo, and then nothing
yeah this isn't as easy as it looks well at least in my case....I have 2 32" flat screen tv's and hooked up the vga connectors to them and they don't work. I was told by tech support from HP that I needed to change the settings on the computer to make the screen larger but it didn't work. I did recieve a cd for monitors with my computer so I may try to see if it will help me set it up
@ryanb788 I bet its because the TV is old or ur using VGA in most cases you shouldn't have to change settings other then changing the input to the computer input. I have LOTS of experience in this region of setup. NOW since this is a recent post I take it you dont have a old tv, so if you have a open HDMI spot use that to your computer if the computer has it or digital.

@mightywarriorx step 1, go to radio shack step 2. buy a double ended 3.5mm plug cord, one with a plug on both ends, and plug one end into the output hole, and one into the input on the tv, OH MY GOD THAT WAS EASY!
not all tv's have HDMI connections, FYI, most do, but some don't

This was just discovered/learned in 2008? Sad..... And also what Zenniz1992 said, The output on the pc and the input on the lcd are not "holes" They are called VGA ports. And its not just a "wire with blue on the ends" Its a VGA cable. Last thing, to Jerzyboy94, You CAN connect your Pc's sound card (or onboard sound) to a LCD IF your LCD supports it, (the PC Analog Audio Input)
@erikblazer13 Hey DICK are you really serious? is that something to talk about. Besides the uploader said that he/she MADE the video/ DIDN'T say that it was his/her hands in it.
@XGAMERall take a 3.5 mm headphone jack cable (male to male), connect it to the port on the back of the tv next to the vga port, and to the green headphone jack on the back of the computer

Basically your not turning your T.V. into a monitor, your just using a monitor that has VGA which is what your using with your computer, and HD Component or AV inputs which is what your average T.V. would have. Today just about every flat screen or HD T.V. you go out and buy will have a VGA input for those people who want to use it as a large computer monitor, or my favorite Duel Display.
just so ppl know, i'm not exactly a pro at hardware and cables and stuff. i just found out how to turn a TV into a monitor when i was playing around. so im sorry, but i cant help
