In TNG, STV you get used to the starship going boom because you know a temporal rift something is involved or but when I saw the Defiant go it was "holy fuck, they BLEW UP THE DEFIANT!"
Wow that makes me sick and I've barely seen the Defiant in action. I've watched to about halfway through season 3 and I've seen First Contact. Looks like the Breen really are serious business, as it took the Borg several tries to even scratch the Defiant and here the Breen hit it just once and it's all she wrote.
I'm certainly looking forward to seeing the rest of Deep Space Nine!
This is quite possibly tied up there with "oh shit" moments as when Riker ordered worf to fire on the borg cube at the end of Best of Both Worlds Part 1.
If you like Star Trek and you like simming join A Call To Duty where you to can captain or serve aboard a Defiant class cruiser...and I loved DS9 showed the darker side of Star Trek...
@VigilanteJustin Had they switched over to all-CGI at that point? I don't think even Voyager was all CGI yet. It was mostly CGI, but I don't believe DS9 ever went full CGI.
@cubdukat I think DS9 was a mix of CGI and models. They definitely went CGI in season 6--Sacrifice of Angels is all CGI, because no way could you do 600 ships vs 1200 ships with models
You see the problem was that they killed of Jadzia Dax if she'd been flying instead of that annoying Bajoran the origianl Defian would still be there.
convenient how they had enough time to get to the escape pods (even though sisko took his sweet time about it) & then the Dominion let the pods go!!!! idiots!

It always seems that every surface of a star trek ship bridge is made of explodium.

Sad indeed. Of all the Star Trek ships in the Federation, the Defiant was my favourite by far.

@quantum460 They re-named the USS San Palo to the Defiant so they wouldn't have to make new CGI scene for the final episode.

I think the Dominion were more worried about the slightly larger armed vessels than the unarmed non threatening escape pods.

they want them to escape because they should fear the others at home with theire horrible storys from the battle
kcirtap86patrick 2 years ago 3
The reason why they let them escape is to let them tell everyone else about their power and what they are capable of
