  • Why can't Pearl Jam put this little gem on CD?. Hopefully there will be a Lost Dogs volume 2 with this, Sonic Reducer, Brother, Just a Girl, I've Got a Feeling, State of Love and Trust, Crazy Mary, I Got I.D. etc, etc, ....................

  • 1:33

    Muito bom.

  • I cannot tell you how long I have been looking for this song. Its so crazy! Man, I love it. Can anyone please tell me where I can buy this album? I have looked and looked with no luck. Thank you so much for this video!!!

  • Inspired by the "Eloping Angels" by William Watson.

  • "just like in the living room..."

  • This song got me through my hardest teenage years... it's so calm the lyrics are magic... Eddie Vedder has love in his voice (yes this is the very recording I listened to when I was 14!)

  • holy shit. a masterpiece.

  • Recordando a una persona a cientos de km.....tqm

  • @MonicaHdezC yo tambien te quiero mucho! jaja... me alegro que el tema te produzca alguna sensacion

  • In my opinion, one of the few great things Dave did for the band. This, and the drums on "Last Exit." He needed to go. Jack Irons and Matt Cameron forever.

  • @PinkFloyd47 Dave's intensity made pearl jam such a great live act. Look at their live performances after Dave was fired and it is seriously lacking energy. Dave did alot more for pearl jam than just a few songs. Listen to rerecorded Even Flow with Dave that was released to radio in 92. Dave was a serious part of pearl jams sound and they screwed up by letting him go.

  • @TXJ471 I don't think they screwed up. I think they moved in a different direction that was right for them, that made them even more unique than before. I personally did not like Arbruzzese's era in the band. I think Vs. and Vitalogy are Pearl Jam's two weakest records, during which they seemed to be more focused on producing an angsty, heavy-hitting fast sound than bothering to experiment with different percussion sounds that may be slower and more solid.

  • @PinkFloyd47 HAHA! jack irons fucking blows!

  • @itaintlikethat90 I suppose that's a matter of opinion, but I have to say, I know my Pearl Jam history from Stone Gossard's Demo Tape to Backspacer. And what I'm most impressed with is Yield and No Code. They're two of the most creative albums I've ever heard, in no small way because of the drumming. Whether it's the chillout quasi-bossa beat of "Sometimes" or the wind-tunnel-esque "No Way," Jack Irons never failed to disappoint me.

  • @itaintlikethat90 *never failed to impress me.

  • @PinkFloyd47 yes, but as everybody says, it's the energy dave brought, they looked dead after 94

  • the sweat-covered beast in the back...

  • @montelimat was that this show?

  • @mikehowton707 Hiya... I'm not exactly sure why I left that comment, because the "sweat-covered beast" thing is actually from the first Self-Pollution/Monkeywrench radio thing, April 4 or 5, 1994 (Kurt Cobain was missing, wouldn't be found for a couple more days, Eddie dedicated a song in the set to Kurt.) Those were the days, the heydays of grunge, if you will. I sat by the radio and taped as much of the show as I could, before it was way past my bed time.

  • @montelimat wow lol. I do remember that right before he said that they played betterman. And Ya grunge lasted only a good 5 years on my book. It died with kurt.

  • Oh My! What This?!? Dave Abruzs playin chords an angel?!? Could never figure it out!!! What a f*cka!!!

  • Dave - best drummer of Pearl Jam.

  • like an angel

  • That´s simply great. Beauty, I miss that Dave´s way of phrasin´, that music with him was sooo

    soo thrillin´

Dave again with Pearl jam, please, only for one tour - it would be greatest thing and everyone would start to cryyy and yell

  • Dave with guitar????

    I am really surprised...

  • We had to make a deal with the Governor...

Come to NC and make a deal with us at Escape the Daily Grind, we're easy to deal with....you'll love it in our living room...

  • I don't know why they quit playing this song in their shows...it's just so very awesome, very relaxing...I love it, really identify myself with its lyrics...as several many others may also do...

  • I totally agree - they NEVER play this. I first heard this version on a bootleg tape in college in 1995 and seeing it on video is awesome.

  • I love this song...

  • its about been able to get outside of your...what???

  • Body... I guess :/ though it doesn't make any sens to me too ;)

  • Dude, the song is simply about beeing near somebody you love after death: 'like an angel'.

  • dude.............actually the song is whatever i interpret it to be.....and its funny i got so many minuses, your probably one of them, cus everything i said is true....but i guess people like you are too busy living inside the box and telling others, that is the only way to go........well sorry bro.....especially with music.....music should mean what it means to YOU...and last time i checked EVERYBODY has different feelings and emotions...

  • glad someone has sense. thats like saying thers only one meaning to yellow ledbedder. (sp )

  • I love Dave Abbruzzese - there is a proove how much his presence influenced the band expression.

  • -.^ 4/5

  • I was at this show...sitting in the lawn section, watching from the lawn...damn, from the lawn, from you tube, from a decade+ later, who cares, this cat could be enjoyed from the fuckin'moon!

  • Dave is playing guitar. There 1st drummer,Its his song.

  • thats actually the 2nd drummer , Dave Abrezze (sp) , their 1st drummer was named Dave Krusen (sp)...cheers

  • He can be considered as their 3th or 4th drummer. Together with Matt Cameron they made some early demo's; Dave Krusen was the drummer on Ten. Matt Chamberlain drummed in the video of Alive (he did some early live shows) and then Dave joined. Jack Irons replaced Dave. And nowdays the cercle is closed. Matt is with them again.

  • ..they are like the angels..oohh!! we love you!!

  • what is the next song after this in that show????

  • patriot

  • aguante pearl jam!!

    pupe

    ARG

  • Wow. I had no idea there was a video of this song. Beautiful.

  • Oh this is so cool I got this on vinyl it was their Christmas single in '95 I was a member of the ten club and they me this for x-mas.

    Thanx for posting!!!

  • I think the original is better with Ed on harmony and melody. I do think though that Abbruzzese was their best drummer overall. Or I like more of the songs that they did when he was in the band. So whatever that means

  • check out Green Romance Orchestra... Dave Abruzzee played in this band and they released a CD sometime after he left PJ... other then that I dont know what ever happened to him... the CD is a few years old...

  • Thanks I'll try to check it out.

  • just pure magic... i miss them so much... no other band has ever touched me so often... play on, sing on, speak on!

  • Can't breath......Always dreamed about Watching them playing this one live...Now knowing why they don't....Never knew Dave A. played the guitar....WOW - so beautifull watching him sing it - just as I pictured it - THANK YOU!

  • they played it for the last time in Chicago at the New Regal Theater on 3-13-94. "i wish i knew then what i know now"

  • I wish wish Dave and Eddie could have buried the dispute before Dave was kicked out. Dave was a phenominal drummer for pearl jam!

  • I had this on a bootleg in 1995 and it is amazing to see it. It is one of THE most beautiful performances. Does any one who if Ed wrote this song? Gosh I hope so. I had no idea that Dave A. played guitar on this or any time else.

  • Oop, I just heard the beginning, Ed wrote this with Dave...

  • "Damn, that gives a little inside to how much bad blood there is between Dave and Pearl Jam"

..blah blah pubic gossiping. You see only the bad part of the situation, that says more about you then about Pj en his former member Dave.

  • I didn't see any bad blood... what are you talking about?

  • Is it me or did Eddie seem to almost rudely yank the guitar from Dave, as if to say...you don't deserve this recognition. This seems to coincide with bangslam's story about the bad blood. Miss Dave.

  • He didn't rudely yank anything... are you watching the same video?

  • Yup, same video where Dave almost stumbles cause his arm isn't out of the guitar strap while Ed is taking it from him, then Ed doesn't even use the guitar, switches out to his electric. The boys never showed bad blood on stage...alot of tension behind the scenes, though (even the fan sites admit to this!).

  • its sad, because it would be really cool to hear this song in concerts

  • i always liked dave, too bad it didn't work out....i always wondered why

  • What a beautiful song-Id never seen it before ,thank you!

  • Dave will always be PEARL JAm.. he still remains an integrap part of the band's legend... we miss you, Dave..

  • well said...

  • did you know the reason this song isn't included in the Lost Dogs album is because Dave Abbruzzese wrote the music and thus they would have to pay him royalties, which the band refused to do?

Damn, that gives a little inside to how much bad blood there is between Dave and Pearl Jam

  • Thank you! I've been wanting to know that bangslamwham.

  • um....they would have to pay him royalties either way, there are outtakes from vs. on lost dogs which he played in and his name is listed as a writer for some of the songs on lost dogs, so your theory is disproved

  • Not entirely is his theory disproved. Dave wrote this song in its entirety, I could be wrong, but he didn't write any other songs in their entirety.

  • better than anyone is pearl jam. what a song. what a song.

  • I love the emotion Edd puts into his songs! GOD I love this song, when he says "I'm...I'm by your side!" He was so emotional he couldn't even say it haha! Brilliant.

  • wow dude, this is awesome...never seen dave on guitars!!

i didn't know angel was from the early years of pearl jam
