Why can't Pearl Jam put this little gem on CD?. Hopefully there will be a Lost Dogs volume 2 with this, Sonic Reducer, Brother, Just a Girl, I've Got a Feeling, State of Love and Trust, Crazy Mary, I Got I.D. etc, etc, ....................
I cannot tell you how long I have been looking for this song. Its so crazy! Man, I love it. Can anyone please tell me where I can buy this album? I have looked and looked with no luck. Thank you so much for this video!!!
This song got me through my hardest teenage years... it's so calm the lyrics are magic... Eddie Vedder has love in his voice (yes this is the very recording I listened to when I was 14!)
In my opinion, one of the few great things Dave did for the band. This, and the drums on "Last Exit." He needed to go. Jack Irons and Matt Cameron forever.
@PinkFloyd47 Dave's intensity made pearl jam such a great live act. Look at their live performances after Dave was fired and it is seriously lacking energy. Dave did alot more for pearl jam than just a few songs. Listen to rerecorded Even Flow with Dave that was released to radio in 92. Dave was a serious part of pearl jams sound and they screwed up by letting him go.
@TXJ471 I don't think they screwed up. I think they moved in a different direction that was right for them, that made them even more unique than before. I personally did not like Arbruzzese's era in the band. I think Vs. and Vitalogy are Pearl Jam's two weakest records, during which they seemed to be more focused on producing an angsty, heavy-hitting fast sound than bothering to experiment with different percussion sounds that may be slower and more solid.
@itaintlikethat90 I suppose that's a matter of opinion, but I have to say, I know my Pearl Jam history from Stone Gossard's Demo Tape to Backspacer. And what I'm most impressed with is Yield and No Code. They're two of the most creative albums I've ever heard, in no small way because of the drumming. Whether it's the chillout quasi-bossa beat of "Sometimes" or the wind-tunnel-esque "No Way," Jack Irons never failed to disappoint me.
@mikehowton707 Hiya... I'm not exactly sure why I left that comment, because the "sweat-covered beast" thing is actually from the first Self-Pollution/Monkeywrench radio thing, April 4 or 5, 1994 (Kurt Cobain was missing, wouldn't be found for a couple more days, Eddie dedicated a song in the set to Kurt.) Those were the days, the heydays of grunge, if you will. I sat by the radio and taped as much of the show as I could, before it was way past my bed time.
@montelimat wow lol. I do remember that right before he said that they played betterman. And Ya grunge lasted only a good 5 years on my book. It died with kurt.
I don't know why they quit playing this song in their shows...it's just so very awesome, very relaxing...I love it, really identify myself with its lyrics...as several many others may also do...
dude.............actually the song is whatever i interpret it to be.....and its funny i got so many minuses, your probably one of them, cus everything i said is true....but i guess people like you are too busy living inside the box and telling others, that is the only way to go........well sorry bro.....especially with music.....music should mean what it means to YOU...and last time i checked EVERYBODY has different feelings and emotions...
I was at this show...sitting in the lawn section, watching from the lawn...damn, from the lawn, from you tube, from a decade+ later, who cares, this cat could be enjoyed from the fuckin'moon!
He can be considered as their 3th or 4th drummer. Together with Matt Cameron they made some early demo's; Dave Krusen was the drummer on Ten. Matt Chamberlain drummed in the video of Alive (he did some early live shows) and then Dave joined. Jack Irons replaced Dave. And nowdays the cercle is closed. Matt is with them again.
I think the original is better with Ed on harmony and melody. I do think though that Abbruzzese was their best drummer overall. Or I like more of the songs that they did when he was in the band. So whatever that means
check out Green Romance Orchestra... Dave Abruzzee played in this band and they released a CD sometime after he left PJ... other then that I dont know what ever happened to him... the CD is a few years old...
Can't breath......Always dreamed about Watching them playing this one live...Now knowing why they don't....Never knew Dave A. played the guitar....WOW - so beautifull watching him sing it - just as I pictured it - THANK YOU!
I had this on a bootleg in 1995 and it is amazing to see it. It is one of THE most beautiful performances. Does any one who if Ed wrote this song? Gosh I hope so. I had no idea that Dave A. played guitar on this or any time else.
Is it me or did Eddie seem to almost rudely yank the guitar from Dave, as if to say...you don't deserve this recognition. This seems to coincide with bangslam's story about the bad blood. Miss Dave.
Yup, same video where Dave almost stumbles cause his arm isn't out of the guitar strap while Ed is taking it from him, then Ed doesn't even use the guitar, switches out to his electric. The boys never showed bad blood on stage...alot of tension behind the scenes, though (even the fan sites admit to this!).
did you know the reason this song isn't included in the Lost Dogs album is because Dave Abbruzzese wrote the music and thus they would have to pay him royalties, which the band refused to do?
Damn, that gives a little inside to how much bad blood there is between Dave and Pearl Jam
um....they would have to pay him royalties either way, there are outtakes from vs. on lost dogs which he played in and his name is listed as a writer for some of the songs on lost dogs, so your theory is disproved
I love the emotion Edd puts into his songs! GOD I love this song, when he says "I'm...I'm by your side!" He was so emotional he couldn't even say it haha! Brilliant.
