  • The Catholic Church doesn't teach evil but men and women have free will to choose to do evil or good. A great many call themselves Catholic but are only so in name only.

  • What a wonderful movie.

  • this is the first time i will see this movie thanks so much for putting it here i tried to find it online months ago

  • You know it's interesting. This is one of my favorite films. There is no need to be hateful. Everybody makes choices and this is a choice.

  • the nun taking the dowry is played by Italian actress Ave Ninchi, who was best known as actress in Italian film comedies, most of them with Totò, on televison and in the theatre. She was from Ancona in the Marches'

  • the church where they enter is in Bruges, its name is "Onze Lieve Vrouw van de Potterie" - Our Lady of the Pottery - and is actually a mother house of a congregation of nuns: the Augustinian nuns of Our Lady of the Pottery, an hospital founded in the Middle Ages

  • @GG2873

I am lucky enough to have visited Bruges and found it to be an amazing place, not a great deal changed from the images in the film!

  • Whatever your beliefs, this is a captivating story. Thank you for posting the film.

  • Thank you for the upload. :)

  • Thank You for posting this movie.

  • This is what families use to do with women that they couldn't "Give Away" in Marriage, or they were too poor to come up with a "Bride Price". All this Rhetoric about a woman going into a Convent of her own free will, is utter nonsense. That is why Convents are very few a far between today (They are bloody empty). Who ever Romanticized the idea of entering a Convent is a Bloody Fool. Funny thing when Women have choices, very few of them will choose Religion as a lifetime occupation.

  • Yes, in today's world, women have countless choices regarding a career, yet that does not prohibit one entering a religious vocation. There are countless examples found of women partaking in a religious vocation on youtube.

  • It comes down to Nurture, as apposed to "human nature". If you bring up an individual to believe they are worthless and non productive, it is not hard to conceive that they will choose a "likewise" occupation. It's easy to offer a Female an occupation that offers no renumeration for services rendered. We teach her that she has nothing to give and nothing to offer, apart for being a baby factory. I would rather live in a Vacuum personally.

  • @starquant lol...oh how you have no idea of what you speak.Having been in religious life I can tell you that a religous has a great deal to give and recives so much more. Of course you could not understand this. To quote Bishop Sheen, an athiesit has no inner means of support...think about it!

  • @starquant you keep posting hatful things about nuns and the Church...or at least uniformed. Have you thought of seeing a therapist? This issue is not the church but you....

  • @starquant ""All this Rhetoric about a woman going into a Convent of her own free will, is utter nonsense. "" Unless you can offer some actual proof or evidence of this, may I politely ask you to put a cork in it? And sorry, but your own perceptions (or biases) do not constitute proof or evidence.

  • @SilenceIKissYou nah, I can't offer any proof. I suggest you step out into the REAL world and witness it for yourself. It's called the "Madonna Complex". I hope to crap you NEVER raise any daughters, I suspect they will be Dependant, comber sum and in adequate (just as you want them to be)... more easy to control when they are that way.

  • @starquant And this is exactly why one of your daughters or their childern will not only be a catholic but a religious. People so filled with hate for the church are its best source of vocations. The toung see you and then understand Chrit's church and its message. Thank you!

  • @SilenceIKissYou and @starquant Obviously neither one of you understand religous life. It is ALWAYS of thier own free will There are several times, public and prvate the cadidate is asked this question and can leave at any time. In fact Cannon law states taht if it is not of thier free will tier vows are invalid! I suggest you put a cork in it until you read and learn of what you real against...

  • @Randy02116 the reason a man enters a religious life, is so that he can FUCK little boys and no go to Jail for it. The reason a woman enters a religious life, is because she doesn't want to be a mans slave for the rest of her life, get beaten, work for no pay, and raise his brats while he goes out and fucks her sister. On second thought, I might want to be a NUN myself.

  • @starquant Nuns live longer on average than married women and they have less dementia. Probably because they don't have the stress of dealing with men.

  • @Prancer1231 Actually all unmarried women, whether they are nuns are not, live longer and are more mentally stable than married women. However, the opposite is true for men - married men live longer and are more stable than their single counterparts. Men need women more than women need men which is why Western society is set up to force the economic dependency of women on men. Women rule and men know it!

  • @starquant OR because she's afraid of living a life out in the ordinary world?

  • @Chocolateluvr1987 There's many people who hide out in ordinary life. I would imagine a person wouldn't last long in religious life if they are there for anything but faith and vocation. Living with people for life you don't necessarily like or will clash with is probably more of challenging experience. Most religious, esp Catholics, are not all hidden in buildings living on a cloud.

  • @starquant You think it is only priests who abuse children? Think again. bishop-accountability . org / news2006/05_06 / 2006_06_24_Miller_ComplaintsOf . htm

  • @YouAreHereIAmNot really... sexually... show me some case law please.

  • @starquant wisn . com / news / 15193608 / detail . html

  • @starquant saw it and thank you for showing it to me. It makes me wonder, why people seek solace in religion tho. Is it just a modern day place, where folks ( Men AND Women, thanks for your reference) , can do these things in private under the guise of religion?.

  • @starquant See my previous post and learn something

  • Great movie. Love Audrey Hepburn. Thanks for posting. Peace, George.

  • And i almost forgot Franz Waxman wonderful Score....
