Your are right in what you said in your comments chris,there were some dam good singers out there before elvis and [at the same time as elvis],not knocking elvis though,we still have serious racism in the uk.

The reason why this classsic early rock "n" roll track did not make it big time is almost certainly down to racism, early famous rockers were white americans,(with rare exceptions only) eg,bill haley,elvis,racism is still serious in parts of usa today,much worse than in UK.IF YOU LIKE THIS TRACK,TRY ROY BROWN,HE WROTE GOOD ROCKIN' TONIGHT,he remained close to pennyless,elvis got richer by it,there is plenty of info on the net,try googling,CB
